Do you ever feel like you're drowning in papers?! It seems we moms deal with a constant flow of papers and mail coming into our house. How about we tackle that mountain of papers and get a SIMPLE system for keeping it all straight! That's what we're talking about today in episode 86 of the Practically Speaking MOM Podcast, the place for an intentional mom to build a strong family.Last week, in episode 85, we began a new theme called "Lasso Your Life." The idea is to lasso your life or it will lasso you. That's right, if we don't take control of our life, it will try to pressure us into a life of urgent stress, overwhelm, and honestly a feeling of defeat. In episode 85, we "lasso'd our momlife" by taking control of our To Do List. Now, in episode 86, we are "lasso'ing our life," by taking control of papers and mail."Lasso your Life," will be an on-going theme from time to time as Val Harrison, The Practically Speaking MOM, gives you practical ways to get another area of your life under control. Keep your eye out for this occasional theme! Also, Val would LOVE to hear from you. Let her know what are of the momlife YOU need some help managing. She'll take your feedback into consideration when she is creating future episodes. You can contact her through her website, PracticallySpeakingMOM.com. Or, you can comment or post in her Facebook group Intentional Mom, Strong Family. Or, you can email her at val@practicallyspeakingmom.com. In fact, she's got some Listener Q&A episodes coming up. If you'd like your question included in one of her episodes, she'd love to hear from you about that also.Next Week:Episode 87, "Visionary Parenting"Your Child's Heart is Asking, "Mom, Do You Believe in Me?" You're answering their heart through the words you say, the tone of your voice, the look in your eye. You may be sending messages you didn't even know you were sending! I was. Thankfully, I made some changes, made a course shift in how I was parenting and it improved my relationships with my kids as well as improving their perception of themselves. And, as I've told you many times, "who you believe you are has everything to do with who you become." Your child's belief about themselves affects their decisions about their life which shapes who they become. So, mamas, let's send the right messages! Being a Visionary Parent is one of the four key hats you are wearing as a mom, according to Val's book, Wearing All Your Hats without Wearing Out: Finding Finding Focus for Your Family to be the Masterpiece God IntendedEpisode 88: "Val Answers Your Questions; Hosted by Abby!" WOW… We started this podcast in July as a hobby, without a guest or any plans to bring guests on right away. Fast forward 4 months and we’re at episode 22, we’ve had incredible guests, and today is a very special one for both of us. It’s no coincidence that on episode 22 we brought in a Syracuse legend, and while he never wore 22 he’s certainly harassed a bunch of them in his day, Ric Beardsley.Ric has countless accolades to his name, he was a 4x All-American 2x National Champion at Syracuse, is currently the head coach at CBA (an elite boy’s high school program in upstate New York), a master clinician, and he recently became an assistant coach for ATLAS LC of the PLL.Talking with Coach Ric was one of easiest and most enlightening experiences I’ve had in my lacrosse life, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.Last Week:What is Wayward Trading Post? In short, it’s a collection of carefully curated items created by owners Tina and Justin Skaggs.Justin and Tina have taken their passion for lacrosse and repurposed it into a unique line of products that are not only incredibly useful, they could also save your life?Have you ever been walking through the woods and needed a blanket for warmth, matches for a fire, a knife for protection, or needed to wrap check a wild aggressive animal (not recommended), check out the Wayward Survival Stick.Next Week: Episode 23 is another great one as we talk with Florida Southern Head Coach Marty Ward. Marty is one of the best and most thoughtful coaches in the game, and he speaks with us about growing up off the reservation, having lacrosse be a major link to his heritage and culture. He also talks about how COVID has affected his scheduling and practice planning this year.Make sure to hit us up on Instagram @going_offsides_podcast and twitter @goingoffsides to see what’s going on with the pod, who we're having next, and for some sweet giveaways. Jozi loves eagles and dog farts. We’re thankful to cover a “Thanksgiving” episode together. Jozi’s got 256 Chandler laptops in her pocket, but Brandon’s phone is tiny. Brandon can’t figure out why Jozi likes this show - even though he’s awarded 4 points in a row. Julie is tossed aside. Jozi beats the crap out of an ex boyfriend. Ross is tossed aside. Episode 027 of Berk Reviews Movie Club features the Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro directed film Delicatessen from 1991. Corey really enjoyed this movie on her previous viewings, but Jonathan had never seen it. Considering this podcast had already watched Jeunet's Alien: Resurrection and Amelie it made sense to check this one out as well. Delicatessen stars Marie-Laure Dougnac, Dominique Pinon, and Pascal Benezech. Next Week - Episode 028 - XX (2017) If you've listened to Top Five Movies over the last year, you've probably heard Corey discuss her affinity for anthology movies. XX (2017) has four female directors: Roxanne Benjamin; Karyn Kusama; St. Vincent (Annie Clark); and Jovanka Vuckovic. The film is comprised of four short horror films and is currently available to stream on Netflix. Submit your comments or reviews of the film prior to the recording of episode 028 for your chance to have them read on the podcast. We have our fastest recap of an episode and shortest recording so far. Woof. At least Jozi and Brandon are ready with a whole lot of puns. Jozi flings her partial family history in order to enlighten us on non-pilgrim shoes. Heckles is now dead and Pheebs is divorced - is the world a better place? One of Brandon’s favorite movies ever is So I Married an Axe Murder, but he recommends Jozi watch Overboard instead? What the crap. Evolution. Emotional abuse. Rachel and Ross go extra awful. #RachelandRossSuck #Pheebsisavailable #boobieclock #woof #menaminash #dodoodododo June 29, 2017 SCORING Hot Garbage. Jonathan picked Rudderless for episode 025 because one of his graduating seniors recommended it as part of the senior farewell challenge. The film is directed by William H. Macy and stars Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Felicity Huffman, Selena Gomez, and Laurence Fishburne. The film has a cast that both Corey and Jonathan are fans of and somehow neither had seen the movie before this episode. Next Week - Episode 026 - Funny Games (2007) Corey is a big fan of Funny Games (2007), but Jonathan has never seen it. She picked it for the next episode of Movie Club. It is available on HBO or you can rent / buy it from Amazon. Ain’t no cold open here! We stumble over our seats in anticipation of Season 2! We chat about race! Gasp! Brandon has multiple favorite moments in ep 1!! It must be a point, right?! Brandon wishes he had the Deuce again. Rachel dodges a huge bullet but misses the best joke possible at the airport. There’s cupping and bleeding and breastfeeding. Friends makes all of NYC move backwards. Jozi has a lovely voice. Click To Play Here's a technical episode!!! In this video, the steadycam is built. The instructions to build it are from this great website: http://www.steadycam.orgIf you want to build one yourself, please be VERY CAREFUL, look for professional assistance. I am not a professional, so I had to ask for help to my good friend Joe, who knows about this stuff.Although the Steadycam is supposed to cost $14 dollars. In our case, it was $16.54. And that doesn't include the spray black paint, and the tennis racquet grip. Still, it's a very cheap steadycam. We already used it, and it's wonderful!!!Next Week Episode 07: ?????Oh my God....
