Gloria Allred steps Behind The Rope. No, you are not seeing things. Living Legend! Icon in the flesh! Trailblazer! The most well known, bad a** Civil Rights attorney to ever exist in the world was kind enough to grace us with her presence. We are not worthy!! If you ask Gloria, and we did, it isn't about any of those titles or accolades or record breaking dollar amount judgements she, and her partners at Allred, Maroko & Goldberg, have won. It is about giving a voice to those who would otherwise not have a voice and fighting for those whose rights have been presumably violated, often by the Hollywood elite. Some of these Hollywood elite that Gloria has pursued and or been involved in cases against include, but are not limited to, Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson, Rob Lowe, Roman Polanski, Donald Trump, Harvey Weinstein, Aaron Spelling and so on, and on, and on. Gloria has done more for Civil, Human, Women's, Gay, Transgender, and everything else rights than any other Attorney we can think of. Gloria opens up about the woman behind the public figure as seen on every major news outlet around the world answering questions on the biggest misconceptions she has heard about herself, moments of insecurity and fear, if any (we don't see any), what she does for fun, and can she step outside of herself, look back, reflect and realize that she has had one of the most brilliant legal carers of all time. While we have one of the most brilliant legal minds to ever exist in our presence, we get Gloria's thoughts on current cases such as the Britney Spears conservatorship, The Erika Jayne / Tom Girardi Divorce, Armie Hammer's disappearance, and Sharon Osbourne's “cancellation” from The Talk, to name a few. Gloria also chats about the brilliant Netflix documentary “Seeing Allred” discussing what it is like to have your own Netflix Documentary, but, then again, with a career as brilliant as hers, of course Gloria has her own Netflix Documentary. What an honor. Thank you Miss Allred. here have been many adaptations of the Team Foxcatcher story and the erratic John Du Pont and in today's episode we recap the Netflix documentary which is more reality than Hollywood. The story of John Du Pont, his estate compound, and what went on there behind the closed gates is both parts fascinating and bizarre. It's a story of a steady decline into mental illness and what it can take down in its wake. Unfortunately the climactic event this all led to was the murder of world class wrestler Dave Schultz on the grounds of the estate at the hand of Du Pont. In this episode we discuss: The history of the Du Pont family John's relationship w/ local law enforcement and how that impacted things The relationship between John and the wrestling athletes that lived on the compound The behind the scenes home video footage that captures what life was like for members of Team Foxcatcher and their families The events that led up to the murder of Dave Schultz Creating your own wrestling league so you can always win sounds fun The good and bad of the documentary Much more… For more, visit us online at http://distantreplaypodcast.com
As we get prepared for the Olympics this summer, we've been dedicating more episodes to events and stories around the games. Today we're talking about the Netflix documentary called Athlete A, which is about the USA Gymnastics abuse scandal that came to light in 2016 thanks to survivors speaking out and the Indianapolis Star investigation. It's a documentary that won't be comfortable to watch but it's a story that needs to be told. Details on Larry Nassar, the Karolyis, Steve Penny and other people in power at USA Gymnastics are very disturbing and you hear a lot of it first-hand from survivors. In this episode we explore some theories for what happens after death. This is not a discussion about ghosts or heaven, but simply a conversation about whether consciousness dies with the body or if it is instead able to somehow transcend death. We discuss mediums, near death experience, and reincarnation using Leslie Kean's book Surviving Death: A Journalist Investigates the afterlife and its companion Netflix Documentary called Surviving Death. Today on The Rich Zeoli Show, Philadelphia Mayor Kenney announced that on June 11th, they’ll be fully reopening the city, with a mask requirement still in place. Something most of us have already been doing for some time now. The lifting of restrictions feels more like a way for employers to get employees back into the city to work, resurging the city wage tax income for the city. Colorado Baker and attorney Ryan Banger, of the Alliance Defending Freedom, joined Rich discussing his latest court case involving his refusal to bake a cake with a message celebrating a gender transition. He also has his upcoming book, "The Cost of My Faith: How a Decision in My Cake Shop Took me to the Supreme Court." 00:00-Restrictions lifted in Philadelphia 5:35- NEWS 10:45-NYT A Misleading CDC Number 20:25- Mayor Kenney and Tom Farley on keeping masks possibly indefinitely 34:05-Gov Phil Murphy talks SHOT and a BEER program on TMZ 50:35-Good thing for Breweries to participate in shot and a beer 53:00-Gas Shortage/Gas Prices 56:40- Netflix Documentary on SON OF SAM suggests he didn't work alone 1:00:50- CALLS ON GAS SHORTAGE 1:08:15- DA RACE IN PHILLY 1:21:05-Whats on the Cut sheet MOM at Six Flags gets asked to leave because of SHORT Shorts, OJ Simpson is a big fan of Liz Cheney, Biden Administration says Pipelines are the best way to transport fuel, Biden didn't realize he was live streaming, 1:40:05 Senators question CDC Director 1:44:05- FAUCI V RAND PAUL on Gain of Function 1:51:10-Is the Media Fueling the gasoline shortage? 2:06:30- Guest - Jack Phillips Masterpiece Cake Shop 2:14:10- Kentucky Derby Doping Horse, Airlines add fuel stops 2:21:30- Bob Dylan walks off Ed Sullivan Show in 1963 2:24:35-Who won Twitter Photo by: Bryan Bedder / Stringer See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
