We want to welcome you to our 5th Annual Midcoast Lyme Disease Support & Education conference. When we first created MLDSE, we thought it would be a place for people to gather, to listen to others, share their own personal journeys and validate their struggles. It quickly became apparent that support has many layers beyond just listening. For us, this has been a journey of not only listening but sharing, educating and connecting, nurturing and networking, encouraging, laughing, crying and celebrating. From the trenches, we take our own personal experiences, the good and the bad, and use them to empower others. Five year later, MLDSE is busier than ever 24/7/365 and we are growing in ways that we never imagined. We are thrilled with all the partnerships and relationships that we’ve worked hard to build and for the supports and resources that we can freely offer to Maine’s Lyme community. This year’s conference is a culmination of five years of hard work and steadfast determination to bring all our resources under one roof, on one day, with free admission to all who attend. Bring your questions, find some answers, connect with resources and leave with hope. Paula & Angele Co-Founders, MLDSE

In this episode you will learn: • Why you won’t want to miss the Midcoast Maine Lyme Disease Conference • How this conference is perfect for patients as well Lyme Literate Health Care providers • How the conference is designed to take care of people with Lyme including a quiet room and quality food. Paula was bit by a tick in October 2009 going undiagnosed for almost 18 months. In April 2011, Paula had Neurological Lyme Disease and numerous co-infections and began her three year journey back to health with a team of lyme literate doctors. Angele Rice was bitten as a child - after growing up with numerous complex chronic health conditions - her state of health after the birth of her first child galvinized her to look for answers for why she was so sick - she was finally diagnosed with lyme at age thirty. These women first created the Midcoast Lyme Disease Support group - and later the conference as a way to empower and educate their local community about lyme disease - and as a way to bring national expertise to their local community.
