Ken Siders, CMP is ETA's Senior Environmental Consultant. He is the past Vice President of Environmental Services at Housecheck. Ken has over 20 years working as an environmental Consultant doing projects around the world including for the Navy, Air Force and TSA. He is also a Commercial and Residential Building Contractor and an Expert Witness specializing in Structural Environmental Disaster Response and Essential Responder Services. This presentation chronicles a challenging three-year project journey at Word of Life Church, titled 'Word of Life Church The Saga Ends”, stemming from complex moisture intrusion following hurricane damage to a unique multi-layer roof system. Referencing standards such as the IICRC S-500, this case highlights the critical steps and obstacles encountered from initial assessment through legal challenges. The presentation will detail the project's key phases, including the intricate initial moisture intrusion and physical building inspections, the meticulous monitoring and documentation of the drying process, and the significant delays and disputes encountered while seeking necessary funding from the insurance company. The narrative culminates in the critical deposition phase, where the project's technical findings and procedures were rigorously examined. Attendees will gain invaluable insights into the paramount importance of thorough documentation and strict adherence to peer-reviewed industry standards like the IICRCS-500 when managing complex restoration projects, particularly those involving potential insurance litigation. In conclusion, the 'end' of this saga underscores how diligently prepared documentation serves as essential evidence, validating proper restoration processes and navigating legal challenges often faced in large-scale, disputed claims.

It's just Kevin and Andrew this week and they have a tight and shockingly relevant episode. They cover the finale of Gen V, A House of Dynamite, and The Hand That Rocks The Cradle (2025). The guys jump right into it this episode the series finale of Gen V. This season was an improvement over an already solid first season and a great lead in to the final season of The Boys. They discuss the big reveals, as well as listener Mike's great catch early in the season. The season had a ton of great character growth and great twists. It will be very interesting to see who shows up in The Boys (probably everyone, at least for a bit?) and who can actually go toe to toe with Homelander. This season left us very hungry for what comes next! Next up, Kevin talks about the new Netflix movie, A House of Dynamite. This is very strong political thriller starring seemingly everyone. The plot, the story of an unknown missile launched at the US, feels far too gritty and plausible. The guys discuss Kathryn Bigelow's body of work and what she might be saying with this one. That said, this is an absolute must watch. Kevin closes the show with a bit of a stinker in the remake of The Hand That Rocks The Cradle. This one stars two great actresses in Maika Monroe and Mary Elizabeth Winsted. Sadly they are wasted on this film. It's an hour long slog which then does manage to throw in a great twist, but far too late. Then the rest of the film is a predictable snowball to the end. If you're itching for this story, you're better off watching the original. As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week! Design is a problem solving discipline. We research user needs, explore solutions, make things, and ship them. But one important stakeholder is often missing from the conversation: the world we live in. What toll do the products we design impose upon the environment? Sustainability is an essential part of the discipline of design, but not understood by designers. If only we had a manual to get us up to speed. This is a preview of a paid episode. Access the full episode on our Substack: https://designbetterpodcast.com/p/jeremy-faludi Our guest today, Jeremy Faludi, has spent a lot of time researching, writing, and thinking about environmental impact and design. He's a researcher and author of Sustainable Design: From Vision to Action. Jeremy has spent decades helping companies move beyond good intentions to evidence-based decisions—from working with Stanley Black & Decker to pioneering biomaterial 3D printing at Delft University of Technology. How much power do you think large language models use? The answer is surprising. We explore why a hairdryer company wasted nine months of engineering time on plastic reductions, how systems thinking reveals the true environmental impact of our designs, and the materials research going into sustainable 3D printing. Bio Jeremy Faludi is an assistant professor of Design for Sustainability at TU Delft's Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, where he focuses on sustainable design methods and additive manufacturing. He created the Whole System Mapping method and in 2004 designed the Biomimicry Institute's first online database, now known as AskNature.org. His work spans from practical design—including a bicycle featured in the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum's 2007 “Design for the Other 90%” exhibit—to developing tools for life cycle assessment, product reparability, and health hazard assessment. In green 3D printing, he's a leading voice, having written the OECD's policy recommendations and the Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association's first white paper, along with publishing the industry's most comprehensive life cycle assessments. Originally trained as a physicist (he helped improve LIGO's vibration damping system to pay for design school), Jeremy worked as a sustainable designer in industry for fifteen years before returning to academia. He's taught at Stanford, Dartmouth, and Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and has contributed to six books on sustainable design, including Worldchanging: A User's Guide for the 21st Century. He's also created multiple online courses for organizations like VentureWell, the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute, and Autodesk. In 2012, he created StreetNatureScore.com, which used 11 billion satellite imagery datapoints to provide nature scores for any US address. *** Premium Episodes on Design Better This is a premium episode on Design Better. Monsters, rockers, spooky season fun and more this week!
Film critic Dominic Corry shares his picks of the flicks available to see now: Bugonia - the new Yorgos Lanthimos black comedy starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, in theaters next week. The Hand that Rocks the Cradle - the remake of the '90s thriller, which is new on Disney+ this week.
"Regretting You" is a drama about romance, infidelity and grief based on a popular novel by Colleen Hoover. A teenage girl played by McKenna Grace discovers dark secrets after some family members are lost in a tragic accident. She navigates the tragedy while experiencing a big high school crush. Grace is terrific, as is Allison Williams as her troubled mom. The story is very soapy, contrived and manipulative, so many viewers will feel like they've been jerked around. However, fans of Colleen Hoover, known as "Cohorts," will get exactly what they want in “Regretting You.” Everyone else, beware. The Hulu entry "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" is a remake and update of a hit thriller from 1992. Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays a wealthy suburban mom who hires a nanny, played by Maika Monroe, who lies about her past and, as it turns out, has a long-standing grudge against the mom. Slowly but surely, all heck breaks loose. You can't blame the talented cast, but this awkward version is saddled with implausible twists and is just a shadow of the original. The Apple TV+ documentary "Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost" is a comprehensive, warts-and-all look at the late comedy duo directed by their son, Ben Stiller. The duo achieved fame with their appearances on the “Ed Sullivan Show,” and worked their own marital angst into their routines. As it turns out, Jerry Stiller taped and saved everything in both his public and private life, giving Ben a mountain of material to sort through. Ben discovers some uncomfortable parallels between his parents' struggles and his own. It's a thoughtful showbiz time capsule.

"Work-life balance." The phrase alone can trigger a wave of guilt. We're constantly told we need to achieve this perfect, mythical equilibrium—a state where our career, family, fitness, and hobbies all get an equal, harmonious slice of our time. But what if this entire concept is a trap? In a thought-provoking episode of the Personal Mastery Training podcast, the hosts argue that the pursuit of a static work-life balance is a myth. Life isn't a perfectly balanced scale; it's a dynamic teeter-totter, always shifting. The real secret to a fulfilling life isn't found in a 50/50 split, but in something far more powerful: being fully present. Key Highlights from the Discussion The Myth of Perfect Balance: Life is never perfectly balanced. Sometimes work will demand more; other times, your family will. Chasing an impossible standard only leads to feeling like you're constantly failing. The goal is not a static state but a fluid, intentional dance. Presence Over Presents: As the classic song "Cat's in the Cradle" warns, being physically present isn't enough. Your family doesn't need you for eight hours a day if you're distracted and stressed. What they need is one hour of your undivided, intentional, phone-free attention. Make the Ordinary Extraordinary: You don't need a grand vacation to create balance. You can find it by turning everyday moments into something special. As host Dr. Charlie shared, a simple act like warming up his son's car on a cold morning becomes an extraordinary expression of love that will be remembered for years. Leverage Your Time: Stop thinking about how much time you have and start thinking about how to leverage it. Pack a single hour with so much connection, fun, and intention that it feels like an entire day. One hour of leveraged quality time is worth more than a week of distracted quantity. Find Passion, Not Obligation: A huge source of imbalance is job dissatisfaction. If you're one of the 80% of people who are disengaged at work, you'll constantly be trying to "escape" it. The solution is to take personal accountability: either find a way to bring passion and excellence to your current role or have the courage to pursue a career you love. The Takeaway Stop chasing the ghost of work-life balance. It doesn't exist. Instead, focus on what's real: the present moment. Whether you're in a meeting, at the dinner table, or at the gym, be there completely. The richest life isn't the most balanced one; it's the one that is most fully lived, one present moment at a time.

Trade leaders often obsess over cost per lead while ignoring the bigger picture. In this Around the CAMPfire episode, hosted by Katie Donovan (Camp Digital CEO), Neal Zamore, Head of Marketing at Storr Group, reveals a proven system for managing “cradle-to-grave” KPIs across marketing, operations, and leadership. From dissecting cost per advertising to spotting red flags in cancellation rates, Neal equips HVAC, plumbing, and electrical owners with practical tools to scale profitably. His insights blend big-company discipline with the grassroots tactics every trade leader can deploy tomorrow. Additional Resources: Connect with Neal Zamore on LinkedIn Learn more about Storr Group Connect with Katie Donovan on LinkedIn Follow CAMP Digital on LinkedIn Learn more about CAMP Digital Join The ARENA - a CSTG Community (powered by our media partner, PeopleForward Network) Chad on LinkedIn Chad Peterman | CEO | Author Peterman Brothers Website Follow PeopleForward Network on LinkedIn Learn more about PeopleForward Network Key Takeaways: CPL is not cash: Pair cost per lead with cost of advertising to see real efficiency. Cradle-to-grave funnel: Track spend, calls, set rate, dispatch, turnover, and tickets weekly to catch red flags fast. Smoking gun metrics: When revenue dips, use funnel data to pinpoint cancel spikes, staffing gaps, or scheduling issues. Seasonality matters: HVAC CPLs vary heavily by season, while plumbing CPLs trend lower year-round. Grassroots still wins: Stickers, yard signs, and everyday branding deliver more leads than just spending more. Freedom with fences: Inspire creativity by setting conditions of satisfaction, not micromanaging.
