Vanuit Hotel De Wereld in Wageningen praten we met Emma van Proosdij, directeur van Museum Sophiahof in Den Haag. Het museum is de pleisterplaats voor de Indische, Molukse, Papoea, en Chinees-Indonesische gemeenschap en een levendige en dynamische plek, waar culturen worden gevierd, waar geschiedenis levend wordt gehouden en waar de kennis over het verleden en de doorwerking ervan nu en in de toekomst met steeds meer mensen wordt gedeeld. De missie is het actief bijdragen aan de betekenis van het materiële en immateriële erfgoed dat samenhangt met het koloniale verleden in Nederlands- Indië/Indonesië en het levend houden daarvan in het collectieve bewustzijn van alle Nederlanders. We praten eerst over het museum en daarna zoomen we in op Nederlands laatste oorlog, die tussen 1950 en 1962, in het westelijk deel van Nieuw-Guinea. The Town of Mahone Bay has completed a two year pilot project which saw a natural flood mitigation 'living shoreline' installed in front of its iconic three churches. Jeff Douglas spoke to Samantha Battaglia, the climate change team lead at Coastal Action in Mahone Bay and Danika van Proosdij, the director of the TransCoastal Adaptations Centre for Nature-based Solutions to find out what a 'living shoreline' entails.

Een verbeelding van Jezus aan het kruis, alleen dan zonder Jezus, maar mét Afrikaanse maskers. Hoe langer je naar het werk kijkt, hoe harder je aan het denken wordt zet over kansen en ongelijkheid. Duizenden huisartsen gingen vrijdag het Malieveld in Den Haag op om te protesteren. Dat doen ze vanwege de hoge werkdruk. Rita Schouten en Naomi Weijer zijn moeder en dochter en allebei huisarts in Oss. Ze leggen uit hoe de situatie eruit ziet voor huisartsen. Voor haar romandebuut 'Confrontaties' werd schrijver Simone Atangana Bekono genomineerd voor vijf verschillende prijzen. Ze won deze week de Anton Wachterprijs, de prijs voor het beste schrijversdebuut. Ze vertelt wat dit jaar vol nominaties en prijzen met haar deed. Deze week stonden de regionale talen in Nederland in de spotlights. Een Comité van Experts van de Raad van Europa kwam namelijk kijken wat hier door de overheid wordt gedaan om talen van minderheden in stand te houden en beschermen. Hoe staat het met het Nedersaksisch in Nederland? Muzikant Hendrik-Jan Bökkers ziet de taal langzaam verdwijnen, maar toch is er hoop. Bij veilinghuis Christie's in Parijs werd het wereldberoemde beeld De Denker van Rodin geveild. Dat klinkt een beetje alsof De Nachtwacht of de Mona Lisa te koop worden aangeboden, maar dat is niet zo. Emma van Proosdij, hoofd artistiek van het museum Beelden Aan Zee, legt het uit.

Oud atelier in een nieuwbouwwijk Toen beeldhouwer André Volten (1925-2002) in 1950 zijn atelier kraakte was Amsterdam Noord een ruig gebied waar werd gewerkt in de scheepsbouw. Het Asterdorp was vanwege de beladen geschiedenis, op het poortgebouw na, afgebroken. Hoe anders is dat in 2022 nu er een heel nieuw woongebied uit de grond wordt gestampt. Het atelier staat er nog altijd en wordt beheerd door Stichting André Volten. Emma van Proosdij, Volten kenner, neemt Hester Wandel mee naar het atelier, waar van bijna alle beelden die Volten in de buitenruimte maakte een model in het klein aanwezig is. Met René Kops, die met Volten heeft gewerkt, loopt Hester door de voormalige werkruimtes, nu een strakke expositieruimte. Na een rondje langs enkele beelden in de stad heeft het werk van Volten definitief een plek gekregen in Hesters geheugen. Er zomaar aan voorbij lopen is er niet meer bij.
