Every week throughout the season, Coach Tortorella will join Flyers Broadcast Network host Jason Myrtetus for the Hockey & Hounds Podcast, discussing not only Flyers hockey but also his passion for animal welfare. Meet this week's Hockey and Hounds pup, Burger. This guy was surrendered to the PSPCA almost two years ago. He was a tough dog when he first got here, but the PSPCA team worked with him so much and now he is the amazingly friendly, happy dog we always knew he should be. He LOVES other dogs and is in our playgroup, and is so super goofy. He doesn't know much (no sit, or other commands), but it doesn't matter, he's just the best.

This week we're finding Diesel a new home. He's the epitome of sweetness, always ready to share a friendly wag or a goofy grin. His energy is contagious, making every day a new adventure. He adores his toys, tossing them in the air and chasing after them with pure joy. Diesel also gets along well with other dogs, making him a perfect addition to a home with existing pets. His adoption would mean a world full of fun, love, and companionship. Diesel is ready to bring joy and laughter into his forever home. If you think you're the future home for Diesel, hurry and visit the PSPCA adoptions desk or email adoptions@pspca.org.

This week we're finding Peanut a new home. Peanut is a super sweet girl. She absolutely loves treats and will politely sit for them. If you're a fit with Peanut, hurry and visit the PSPCA adoptions desk or email adoptions@pspca.org.

Gillian Kocher, Director of Public Relations for the Pennsylvania SPCA checks in with Kristen about a recent rescue of over 100 cats, and an adoption event THIS weekend to help clear the shelters so that these babes can be cared for, and eventually find their furr-ever homes too. It’s kitten season…. during a pandemic. The shelter is already very full, and yet the PSPCA also just rescued over 100 cats from a hoarding situation. There are so many great cats waiting to go home with you, and this weekend is a great opportunity to come meet your new housemate in PURR-son at Philadelphia Brewing Company. The PSPCA has partnered with North Shore Animal League of America who has generously lent their mobile adoption unit for the event. Swiffer has also offered to include this event in their ‘Adoption Sweep’, sponsoring $50 off adoption fees for 50 approved adopters. Head to Philadelphia Brewing Company from 12-5pm Saturday, June 27th, and again from 12-5pm on Sunday, June 28th. PBC has a newly expanded beautiful beer garden set up for social distancing, while serving up their special ‘Working Cat Pale Ale’, an ode to @dukethebrewerycat (who basically runs the place). Gillian Kocher, Director of Public Relations for the Pennsylvania SPCA returns to BEN Around Philly to talk about the PSPCA’s ongoing efforts to save and protect all animals. Their lifesaving mission continues through this pandemic as they also help to distribute pet food and resources to struggling families all over our region. The PSPCA is dependent on donations and grants in order to operate, and while a number of their fundraising events have been cancelled over the past few months, they’ve found a couple of great new ways to adapt and raise funds virtually. One of those new fundraisers is selling puppy and kitten face masks. Now available! For every puppy or kitten mask sold to benefit the PSPCA, an additional mask is donated to a health care provider. Help animals, people, and keep each other safe! They make really cute gifts too. Purchase your PSPCA masks at https://www.bonfire.com/pspca-puppy-face-mask/.
