One of my favorite events of the year is Attune, a thoughtfully curated four-day event at Serenbe filled with opportunities to connect socially, attune inwardly, and get inspired through immersive experiences. I got to record episodes with some of the smartest and most inspiring spiritual leaders around today while I was there in 2019, but few manage to make that wisdom more accessible than today’s guest. Whether it’s in her bestselling books, the Highest Self Podcast, or Rose Gold Goddesses, Sahara Rose just has a knack for making spiritual and Ayurvedic wisdom fun and relatable so it can serve the needs of today's people. When you first hear about Ayurveda, a holistic healing system created in India thousands of years ago, it can seem like this mystical, unapproachable thing. But the beauty of Ayurveda is its simplicity, and how easily it can be integrated into our lives. So, today, Sahara shares how she applies Ayurveda to improve her own life — and how you can, too. I’ll also be back at Attune later this year if you want to meet me and hear from incredible attendees like Sahara Rose, Joe Dispenza, and John Wineland. Head over to attuneexperience.com to learn more and reserve your tickets. 09:30 — The biohacking devices that are slowly making their way into Sahara’s household (by way of her husband) BLUblox Blue Blocking Glasses Ampcoil Chilipad & Ooler Sleep Systems 12:00 — An Ayurvedic approach to marriage and relationships The key to a relationship is living your dharmas, or living your soul purpose In relationships, some people are like waves and some people are like islands How the three doshas show up differently in relationships 17:30 — The three doshas and why it matters to know yours Dosha means energy; it’s essentially an archetype Vāta = air Pitta = fire Kapha = earth What happens, mentally and physically, when your dosha are out of balance The relationship between your dosha and your dharma Using nootropics and other biohacks to balance your dosha How dosha imbalances lead to disease How to bring your dosha back into balance, mentally and physically Want to know your Dosha? When did she know? We all have one dharma, one soul’s purpose We’re all here to raise consciousness There are no accidents, no extras — we’re all here for a purpose So how does this purpose actually manifest in our lives? He has a captivating story and you can feel it in his voice (www.thomasgabriel.com). Finally, meet author Sahara Rose Ketabi. You’ve heard about chakras but what do they really mean and how do we bring them back into balance? In this episode I discuss the chakras from an ancient Vedic perspective, how they can be both depleted or in excess and how they connect to the Doshas (mind-body types) and Koshas (layers outside of our body). Two-hundred episodes of this podcast seems like a huge milestone I'm pretty proud of. We've discussed so much on this podcast including sex and using vaginal jade eggs, our periods, birth control and it's impacts on the body. We've discussed relationships including everything from dating, to friendship to parenting, to motherhood to divorce. We've talked about wellness all over the spectrum including, aging, beauty, fitness, meditation, yoga as well as cooking. We've covered body image at length including intuitive eating and emotional eating. We've discussed mental wellness including the importance of community. We've also spoken about creativity with actors, actresses, writers, directors, musicians, and comedians. This episode covers a little bit of all of those topics. This week's conversation with guest Sahara Rose is a long one, yet I never wanted it to end (we even had to take a bathroom break in the middle). We take a deep dive intro her wellness speciality: Ayurveda (she literally wrote the Idiot's Guide to Ayurveda), food as healing medicine, eating disorders and control related to them, the connection with bodies, creativity, writing a book, and the publishing process. She fully breaks down Ayurveda is, including what doshas are, her top Ayurveda tips utilizing it in daily life, dharma, how chakras connect to it, shamanic shaking, tongue-scraping and more. This episode is robust and packed with ancient wisdom that Sarah has modernized brilliantly. Her advice on family is one of the best answers I've gotten on that subject and she tells a magical story of a meaningful coincidence that changed her life and mine once I heard her tell it. I love this episode and the two-hundred that have preceded it. Thank you so much for listening. What is the smallest thing we can do to start shifting and noticing the ways in which we feel better? How did eating for your mind body type affect your mentally? What opened up for you?
