Kaslin Fields and Mark Mirchandani learn how GKE manages their releases and how customers can take advantage of the GKE release channels for smooth transitions. Guests Abdelfettah Sghiouar and Kobi Magnezi of the Google Cloud GKE team are here to explain. With releases every four months or so, Kobi tells us that Kubernetes requires two pieces to be managed with each release: the control plane and the nodes. Both are managed for the customer in GKE. The new addition of release channels allows flexibility with release updating so customers can adjust to their specific project needs. Each channel offers a different updating mix and speed, and clients choose the channel that's right for their project. The idea for release channels isn't a new one, Kobi explains. In fact, Google's frequent project releases, while keeping things secure and running well, also can be customized by choosing from an assortment of channels in other Google offerings like Chrome. Our guests talk us through the process of releasing through channels and how each release marinates in the Rapid channel to be sure the version is supported and secure before being pushed to customers through other channels. We hear how release channels differ from no-channel releases, the benefits of specialized channels, and recommendations for customers as far as which channels to use with different development environments. Abdel describes real-world use cases for the Rapid, Regular, and Stable channels, the Surge Upgrade feature, and how GKE notifications with Pub/Sub helps in the updating process. Kobi talks about maintenance and exclusion windows to help customers further customize when and how their projects will update. Kobi and Abdel wrap up with a discussion of the future of GKE release channels. Kobi Magnezi Kobi is the Product Manager for GKE at Google Cloud. Abdelfettah Sghiouar Abdel is a Cloud Dev Advocate with a focus on Cloud native, GKE, and Service Mesh technologies. Your genes show you so many interesting things about yourself and your health, but they don't have to define you. I'm sharing with you how some of my specific gene markers show me where I am predisposed to certain responses and how knowing this can help me create a better health and wellness strategy. How to Use Your Genes for Optimal Health Figure out your stress response Optimize your stress management Understand how you're predisposed Create a smarter strategy based on your predispositions Gene Analysis and Your Health It was really interesting for me to discover, through my gene analysis, that my body is actually predisposed to have a heightened response to stress. This means that when I approach a stressful situation, my heart beats faster, my breathing shallows, and the cortisol rushes through my body. This also means that hard and fast exercises, like HIIT or daily strenuous workouts, don't work for me. My body ends up surging cortisol and adrenaline, which in turn means that I end up feeling in fight or flight mode - and holding onto the fat that I'm actually trying to lose. Knowing this about my genes helps me curate my workouts to not trigger my body's stress response. Another great example from my genes is understanding that I'm actually predisposed to binge eating! I also have the gene which means my hunger and full cues aren't as noticeable. You can see how this could cause weight gain! Redefining Your Predisposed Genes However, knowing what I know now about these genes has actually helped me develop a smarter strategy when it comes to my health, fitness, and wellness routine. I can't change my genes, but I can change my lifestyle. And that's exactly what I did. I developed strategies and methods to help me rely on them, such as knowing what a normal meal for my body size and type should look like, instead of my non-existent hunger cues. My genes don't define me - and yours don't define you. It's about understanding what you're predisposed to and figuring out a strategy that helps you work smarter for your body. If you're interested in learning more about how to use your genes to better support your health and wellness routine, I'd love to have you on my upcoming course. It's currently in development, so please register your interest and I'll be in touch when I have more details! Genetic Health Analysis Group - Interest List In This Episode How your genes might predispose you to heightened stress response [8:00] What happens to your exercise routine when you understand your body's response to stress [10:00] How your genes might predispose you to impulse and binge eating [19:00] Why knowing your genes can help you redefine your health goals [24:15] How to use your genes to create a smarter strategy [24:30] Quotes “Our genes, whatever they tell us, are not a good or bad thing. It's a thing. With the information we have from our genes, we can move forward in a way where we can work smarter, not harder, and have a lot more self-compassion.” [5:14] “I can't change my genes, but I can change my lifestyle.” [12:00] “This did feel hard because that was my predisposition, but I did it anyway. If I can do that, imagine the other things I can do. And if I can do this, knowing that I have this gene, imagine all the other genes that can give me information that I can then go ahead and optimize how I can care for myself and my health.” [21:02] “Having the knowledge is power, but we still get to decide how we pursue the lifestyle. These genes do not define us at all.” [24:18] Resources Mentioned Check out the full episode page here Find Life Coaching for Women Physicians Online Follow Dr. Ali Novitsky on Facebook | Instagram Subscribe to Life Coaching for Women Physicians on Apple Podcasts Podcast production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 103: You Did Not Fail Episode 106: Honoring Your Authentic Body Episode 105: Go All-In On You

Is it possible to net the same amount and make our customers happy when everything costs more? On today's episode, host Roland Frasier tackles inflation head-on. You can't just sit back and wait for inflation to ease up, he says, because there are just no guarantees right now. Everything we want—from simple things to big things—costs more. A lot more. Our buying is down $84k per $1M at the moment. That's a pretty big deal. So what are we going to do about it? How will we adjust our business to find free money? How do we net the same amount after inflation? Are there any opportunities to increase our net? How can we optimize your pricing strategies? There are several ways to counter inflation, Roland says, but pricing is by far the fastest, most effective way to increase profits. It passes everything to the bottom line. Listen in for some simple and not-too-painful ways you can shake up your pricing right now to stay ahead of inflation. IN THIS EPISODE YOU'LL LEARN: What the Great Resignation and subsequent wage increase mean for your business Why you need to calculate your current profit margin and TTM The biggest pricing mistake entrepreneurs make when times are tight Which promotions help your bottom line (and which ones hurt it) LINKS AND RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: Ask Roland and Ryan a question http://businesslunchpodcast.com/ask (HERE). If You Want to Gain More Energy, You Should: Focus on creating a solid circadian rhythm foundation Optimize your body composition through blood sugar regulation techniques Remember to use healthy foods as your fuel instead of focusing on a strict diet Has burnout or chronic fatigue become so normal in your life that you are just used to living with it? We are facing an energy epidemic in this country due to our modern lifestyles, but it doesn't have to be this way. The good news is there are simple solutions that you can add to your daily routine that will restore your energy levels and give you the resilience to move past burnout. Eat for Energy with Ari Whitten Ari Whitten is the founder of The Energy Blueprint system, a comprehensive lifestyle and supplement program which has helped more than two million people (and counting) experience optimal health, better performance, and more energy. His new book, Eat for Energy, combines his 25+ years of experience in the study of human health science to help others supercharge their mitochondria, beat fatigue, and unlock all-day energy. Mitochondria is King Ari believes that there are two fundamental causes to our society's overwhelming lack of energy. The overall stress on our bodies from our environment and lifestyle, and what is going on with our mitochondria. We all know that challenging our mitochondria is the key to optimizing our bodies' hormonal production throughout the day and getting the energy that we require. But how do we challenge our mitochondria properly? Through simple lifestyle changes and changing the way we look at our food supply. How to Create More Energy Ari isn't interested in giving you another extreme elimination diet. Instead, he focuses on giving people simple, effective tools using whole foods to help optimize their body's composition, regulate their blood sugar, provide them with a strong circadian rhythm, and ultimately have more energy and feel better. Instead of focusing on all of the things you have to remove from your diet, Ari challenges you to add foods into your life that reverse the issues that have to do with mitochondrial health. When you can implement these few simple solutions, your energy production will come back in a whole new light. Are you ready to overcome your chronic fatigue? Share what lifestyle and food shifts have been a game-changer for you with me in the comments section of the episode page. Quotes: "There is a mismatch between our evolutionary design, how we have been designed by millions of years of evolution, and the modern environment that we are now living in and the modern lifestyle we now have." (7:43) "I think that in 5 or 10 years, that story is not only going to be known, but it is going to be recognized as one of the most important aspects to mitochondrial health, and overall health and disease prevention and longevity." (25:37) “I am not claiming this is the one true best way to eat. I am compiling many decades of nutrition science and putting together a whole bunch of flexible nutrition strategies that can be layered with and integrated into basically any dietary pattern you want.” (29:03) “All of those things I just mentioned take virtually zero effort to do. And if you integrate all of those super low effort things I just mentioned into your life, you haven't even changed your diet at all yet, but you have made a massive impact on your blood sugar regulation which is one of the major drivers of your energy levels.” (39:49) “People know that donuts and ice cream and pizza are not good for them. There is no confusion about that. The issue is those foods are tasty and pleasurable and addicting, and so I am putting much more focus on the best foods to eat, and the principles of how to eat and when to eat and the order of how you eat your foods and things of that nature. So much more of a positive focus of what you are adding into your diet than on any sort of extreme removal approach.” (47:09) In This Episode Why we are seeing so many people struggle with low energy in modern life (7:14) How to begin to rebuild robust mitochondria when coming from a place of burnout (12:11) The importance of building a strong circadian rhythm foundation and lifestyle (27:36) Easy tips for utilizing your fat and deregulated sugar as an energy source (33:05) Which kinds of food you should be thinking about for boosting your energy (41:25) Resources Mentioned: Use Promo Code ‘podcast' for 10% Off Your Order at the Essentially Whole Store Here Eat for Energy by Ari Whitten Other Resources: Check out the full show notes page Keep up with everything Dr. Mariza Follow Dr. Mariza on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Youtube Podcast production & marketing support by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Essentially You Episode #125: Secrets to Building a High-Energy Body with Ari Whitten Essentially You Episode #195: How Do You Get More Energy, Like Yesterday? Do needs change for preconception and/or postpartum as well? What's ferritin and how does it factor in with this conversation? How to check for these levels? How to optimize the levels? Why does most iron cause side effects like stomach pain, constipation or nausea? Can you take too much? Why can that be a problem? How to take iron for maximum absorption and effectiveness? Iron in a prenatal vs. iron supplement? We also chat with Dr. Matt about home birth, as he and his wife Ama had 5 of their children at home (with twins included in that count!). In this post, we look at the factors in search personalization and how to do SEO in light of personalized search results. There are five main modes of personalization, each present in modern search but increasing in sophistication. Apps and bookmarks you use on your device can influence the types of results you see. This level of personalization may increase in intensity as search engines have more information to work with. User retention can translate to positive ranking signals, and you'll appear in more searches among your frequenters. Instead, you have to work around this personalization trend by making your company (and website) more appropriate and specific to your audience. Make your local presence known, to a hyper-specific degree. These strategies are somewhat general, but these personalization trends are hard to pinpoint with the precision of older strategies like keyword-based optimization. Return to your target niche and re-optimize. Keep giving your users what they want; be straightforward and accurate with your onsite company descriptions. Kara Nicole Bitar is a Kundalini Yoga teacher and a Performance Coach. She helps her clients become the happiest, healthiest, and most successful versions. She earned her Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Legal and worked at one of the region's largest law firms in high-stakes corporate litigation. She combines the dedication and focuses required to become a successful attorney with extensive research, experience, and training on making the most of our lives. Since she was a little girl, Kara has always wanted to be a lawyer. She received a full scholarship to law school and graduated with honors. She worked for some of the country's largest law firms, managing business litigation and domestic violence cases. On the surface, Kara appears to have everything under control. Her life was one that everyone wished for, as was the renown and respect she garnered from her substantial legal work. Despite all of this, she was unhappy and felt she lacked the strength and motivation to continue living, despite her many pleasures and benefits. We establish higher standards for ourselves in terms of degrees or acquired riches in our job but lesser standards for how we feel. We are continually under the impression that once we earn that promotion, buy that dazzling product, or do anything, we will be pleased. We have unconsciously linked our happiness to these things, and when we obtain them and the emotion is not fulfilled, we are saddened and disappointed. Kara is becoming increasingly miserable as she realizes that being a lawyer is all she ever wanted to do. A part of her believes there is more to life than this. As a result, her body responded to all of the extra stress from her constant adrenaline rush. She devoted her time and energy to genuinely discovering life's meaning. Kara conducted her study and experimented with various physical activities, including saunas, floats, colonics, and cleanses. She experimented with many modalities to figure out why certain practices work. She didn't rule out any possibilities of discovering the genuine meaning, even if they seemed strange. Kara's story is an excellent example of how our expectations of what we want in life may not always be the best place to find pleasure. It's tempting to equate satisfaction with wealth, power, or prestige, but these are fleeting and replaceable things. What happiness means to you depends on your perspective and your fulfillment from making good decisions and serving others. Episode 198 of The Beyond Adversity Podcast is a must-listen for anyone who feels like happiness can have when you acquire something of value. We must remember that joy and contentment aren't gage with how much or how many you have; it's the people's lives and the values you resonate with. "The Beyond Adversity Podcast with Dr. Brad Miller is published weekly with the mission of helping people "Grow Through What They Go Through" as they navigate adversity and discover their promised life of peace, prosperity, and purpose.
