The world tells us that if you have confidence in yourself, you can do just about anything. Although having a good self-image is important, is it enough? When the problems come, when the diagnosis isn't what you wanted to hear, when the relationship falls apart, when you are at the end of your rope...is your belief in yourself enough to get you through? In this message, hear about how to find true confidence that can weather any storm. Sermon Notes available at: http://bible.com/events/7206950

Pastor Bobby shows us how the label "Christian" is only used three times in the New Testament, and how the Christ-follower is described instead.

It is Pentecost. While this morning you will not hear about the tongues of fire and the chaotic cacophony of that first Pentecost, rest assured that the Spirit moves. Whitney Fauntleroy preaches on Pentecost Sunday. The Scripture lesson is Romans 8:14-17.

Who are you really? This Mother's Day, I wanted to take a few minutes to point out some of the lies we hear every day and remind us all of who we are according to God's Word.
We are adopted as children of God. We have every right, power, and priviledge of Jesus. We need to remember that and stand in that position at all times...even when...especially when we feel defeated.
Seven ways in which our Heavenly Father is a perfect daddy (We apologize that due to a power outage the introduction and first two points were not recorded.)
: It is terrible to live in fear. This message tells believers not to fear. The ultimate cure for fear is faith.
We always identify ourselves with what we have, what we do and what do people say about us. But that's not who we really are. The truth is, we are what and who God says we are. Tune in to this message. Soak and believe in the truth of what your real identity in Christ is--the REAL YOU.

Every born again believer has been adopted out of this world into God's family.
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Jesus didn't save us to find safety and refuge inside a church building. He saved us so that we could be the church, so that we could be his family, so that we could be his hands and his feet here on earth in establishing his kingdom...here on earth. You and I have a crucial role to play in God's Big Story...and deep down, we know it.

I belong to the family of God, and I belong to something bigger than myself.
Eric enlightens us on what is meant by adoption in the Roman culture. You might be surprised on how it differs from our current western understanding.

You are a child of God That means God will forever watch over you Many people’s problem is that they don’t know who they are When you know you’re a child of God, you will learn what real freedom is.

Spring Cypress Presbyterian Church is a body of believers, called by the Holy Spirit, transformed by the Gospel to enjoy and glorify God as we proclaim the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ.
So many Christians live below their potential, walking on eggshells through the world around them. We are children of God, with access to the same supernatural power that Jesus did while walking on the earth. We should expect God's favor on us, not because of who we are, but because of whose we are.

The amazing message of Christianity is that we don't have to earn God's favor - we are God's family. Holy Spirit is God's presence leading, teaching, and adopting us as family.

We are like God because He is the source of our life; He fathered us. He identifies us and affirms us. Our responsibility is to have the spirit of a son not the spirit of a slave or an orphan.
