The Academy of Management has just moved the next AOM conferences outside of the United States. The Association for Information Systems has been rotating the International Conference for Information Systems between three different regions for many years. Picking conference locations seems to be hard, and pretty political—or not? What are the criteria by which academic conferences are selected and what are those by which they should be selected? We discuss a few different ways how conferences and academic programs could be organized. References Alvesson, M., & Sandberg, J. (2024). Late in director Alexandria Stapleton's 4-part Netflix series “Sean Combs: The Reckoning”, one of her subjects lays out what may be the documentary's thesis: While it may seem like Combs “went bad” well into middle-age, the signs were there well before–”it was a slow build.” Stapleton deftly tracks Comb's rise: The son of a murdered father, brought up with music, clothes, and fantasy. Starting out in the music business as a runner, dancer, and promoter. Then becoming “Puff Daddy” in the fallout of a tragically over-promoted show, he would go on to make a fortune as a promoter and producer, understanding the growing importance of both music as a visual medium, as well as the opportunities provided by corporate sponsorship. But Stapleton is as interested in the other side of Combs, the one that ended up with a Federal indictment for racketeering and more; charges that he may have ultimately eluded, but which still resulted in 40 months in Federal Prison. Stapleton presents those who say that were hurt by Combs–psychically, physically, financially, and sexually–with sensitivity, but allows them to tell their own stories with a specificity that at times can be harrowing. Erin Stapleton researchs destruction, archival imperfection, material volatility, resistance and ambiguity in digital and visual cultures, identity and media. Her current project, Catastrophic Loss, investigates how colonial logics continue to inform everyday digital media cultures and practices, the fragility of these systems, and the losses they threaten and produce. We discuss her book, The Intoxication of Destruction in Theory, Culture and Media: A Philosophy of Expenditure After Georges Bataille, which was published in 2022 by Amsterdam University Press (and published in paperback by Routledge in 2025). In it, she takes destruction as the founding operation of culture and trace it through philosophy, the media of September 11 and disaster films, end-of-the-world narratives, execution and eroticism, before addressing the effects of the displacement of linear destruction on the culture and media produced in digital systems. In other words, it's got sex, death, explosions… and computers. And an unexpected amount of Walter Benjamin for some reason. And a joke that will only be funny to people who are intimately familiar with Australian slang and Georges Bataille. She completed her PhD with the London Graduate School at Kingston University, and my other qualifications at the University of Melbourne, where she now teaches in Media and Communications.Stapleton's site: https://drerinkstapleton.wordpress.com/Book link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intoxication-Destruction-Theory-Culture-Media/dp/9463724532--- Become part of the Hermitix community: Hermitix Twitter - https://twitter.com/Hermitixpodcast Support Hermitix: Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/hermitix Donations: - https://www.paypal.me/hermitixpod Hermitix Merchandise - http://teespring.com/stores/hermitix-2 Bitcoin Donation Address: 3LAGEKBXEuE2pgc4oubExGTWtrKPuXDDLK Ethereum Donation Address: 0x31e2a4a31B8563B8d238eC086daE9B75a00D9E74
From the Patriot Mobile studio powered by E|Spaces, the guys dive into a packed episode of Try That In A Small Town. They kick things off by reacting to the latest ACM Award nominations: who belongs, who doesn't, and why politics still run the game. Entertainer, Group, Duo, New Artist, Album, Song, Single, and Musical Event of the Year all get the TTIAST treatment, with plenty of opinions on names like Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, Alabama, Zac Brown Band, Parmalee, and more. Kelly shares a huge personal milestone: after interning for Reba's company back in the 90s, he finally lands his first Reba cut on a song written in 2005. That opens up a conversation about prayer, persistence, and whether Christians should pray about career and business. The guys revisit the backstory of “If I Didn't Love You” (Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood), from losing a duet slot to writing something ultra-specific on a deadline and watching it connect. In the fan-favorite Dip Shitty-its segment, they unload on Masters “pond jumpers,” public bathroom pee etiquette, clapping when servers drop dishes, trash in urinals, rental car abuse, and more everyday behaviors that drive them crazy. They close with a powerful Small Town Hero story from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, where a principal charged an armed student, took a bullet, and likely saved lives. It's exactly the kind of “try that in a small town” courage the show was built to highlight. If you like country music, songwriting war stories, small town grit, and unfiltered opinions, this one delivers from front to back. In this episode, Niki Tudge & Louise Stapleton-Frappell Join Us to Discuss Their New Book, Beyond Belly Rubs: The Compassionate Pet GuardianHosted by: Don HansonPanelists: Dayle Pierce and Tasha AttwoodAbout Beyond Belly RubsThis book was written because love, while essential, is often asked to do too much work on its own.· Love does not automatically teach us how fear works in the brain.· Love does not explain why a dog can know a cue at home and seem to forget it outside.· Love does not tell us how to respond when kindness alone doesn't seem to help. That isn't a failure of love. It's a gap in guidance. This book exists to help bridge that gap.You don't need to be a trainer, behaviorist, or expert in learning theory. You don't need to memorize terminology or follow rigid rules. What you do need is a way to understand what your dog is communicating, how learning actually happens, and how to make choices that protect both emotional and physical well-being - without fear, force, or guilt. At its heart, this book is about turning care into clarity. It offers a calm, science-based framework to help you make sense of your dog's behavior, respond with confidence rather than frustration, and build a relationship rooted not just in love, but in understanding, safety, and trust. · You are not behind. · You are not failing. You are here - and that already tells us a great deal about the kind of guardian you are.

In this thoughtful episode, Sr. Brenda gathers Sr. Julie, Sr. Nancy and Arizona Companion, Mary Novotny, for a heartfelt conversation about courage rooted in faith. Together, they explore how faith steadies us in uncertain times and gives us bravery to step beyond comfort into purpose. Through personal stories of responding to a deeper call – sometimes trembling but always trusting – they reflect on what it means to show up for justice, for immigrants, for the Earth, and for one another. Their experiences reveal how seemingly small, faithful choices, can ripple outward into meaningful change. With honesty, warmth and a touch of humor, they share how prayer, community, and support help them weather life's storm. Courage, we learn, is rarely loud but always powerful!
The crew's back after a two-week break with stories from the Houston rodeo, golf trips, and life updates. Maxx breaks down his failed attempt to score Metallica tickets at the Sphere (400,000 people in queue), while Joe recounts the Chris Stapleton concert experience and shares the touching backstory about why Stapleton always performs with his wife. The conversation bounces from rodeo fashion and controversies to Christian's upcoming move into his new house, complete with tales of gas leaks, property taxes, and the chaos of packing up. Things take a turn when the guys dive into deeper territory—discussing Houston's spring break madness, the rodeo brawl that shut everything down, and the broader cultural questions about public behavior and safety. Joe breaks down the Iran situation (with the guys admitting they're probably out of their depth), they debate property taxes and government spending, and Maxx reveals he finally finished his first book in 15 years. Between talk of paid household help, deep sea fishing plans, and Shawley's upcoming run club event, it's a classic rambling session that covers everything from Mormon Housewives to shark cage diving.

Continuing the publication of interviews from DevConnect in Buenos Aires, I sat down with Kate Stapleton, a former member of Anonymous and privacy advocate, now able to speak publicly after the statute of limitations expired. In this interview, Kate recounts the origins of Anonymous in early internet culture, IRC, and the Church of Scientology protests, while challenging the myth of Anonymous as a single unified movement. For safety and clarity, she does not reveal her former online handles, some of which are now controlled by other entities that are best left unnamed. We discuss why Anonymous ultimately lost momentum and the public apathy toward mass surveillance. We connect the history of hacker culture and cypherpunk activism to today's crypto ecosystem, including Mr. Robot and the persistence of burnout and nihilism in the space. The episode asks a central question: did we learn anything from Anonymous, and what lessons still matter today for privacy, activism, and building alternative systems. If you liked the podcast be sure to give it a review on your preferred podcast platform. Sean "Diddy" Combs, the hip-hop mogul also known as Puff Daddy or P. Diddy, remains behind bars at a New Jersey prison serving a 50-month sentence after his October 2025 conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, following his acquittal on racketeering and sex-trafficking charges, as reported by OK! Magazine and A&E. Now 56, Combs works as a chaplain's assistant in the prison chapel and is enrolled in an intensive drug program, with recent photos showing him smiling in the courtyard alongside former NBA player Sebastian Telfair, according to A&E.His family stays resilient amid the fallout. On January 19, Combs' 18-year-old twin daughters Jessie and D'Lila shared a heartwarming TikTok video of them dancing in stilettos with their 3-year-old half-sister Love, captioning it "Had to bring the big girls for the vid," delighting fans including Kimora Lee Simmons' daughter Ming Lee, per OK! Magazine. The siblings, along with brothers Quincy, Justin, Christian "King," and Chance, issued a unified statement post-arrest supporting their father, and Combs apologized to his seven children and mother Janice during sentencing, saying via NBC News, "I want to apologize to my seven children... I am truly sorry for it all."Rivalries heat up outside. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson continues relentless trolling of Combs, producing the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released December 2025 and directed by Alexandria Stapleton, which explores his music empire from Bad Boy Records—home to hits like "I'll Be Missing You"—and allegations, as detailed by CinemaBlend. Combs accused the production of using stolen footage, a claim denied by Jackson and Stapleton. His ex Chelsea Handler praised 50 Cent on the We Might Be Drunk Podcast, declaring, "I love what Fiddy's doing to Diddy... He's relentless," even joking about revisiting their romance, according to OK! Magazine.President Trump confirmed Combs requested a presidential pardon, per AOL, amid his estimated $800 million net worth from ventures like Cîroc vodka—now fully owned by Diageo after their 2026 dispute settlement—and DeLeón tequila, as noted by Urban Splatter and AOL. Netflix highlighted the docuseries in its strong 2025 lineup alongside Stranger Things.Thank you for tuning in, listeners. Come back next week for more. Phil Hellmuth has provided more than his fair share of entertainment over the past few decades on poker live streams, and that trend continues during a cash game on PokerGO's No Gamble, No Future. In a multi way bomb pot, Hellmuth and DrDad both make the same full house on the river, and a chopped pot seems inevitable. However, is this the moment Phil Hellmuth makes a huge mistake and lays down his boat after DrDad overbets? When playing cash games or poker tournaments, you generally want to use larger bet sizes when you have a nut advantage. This means your range contains more premium hands than your opponent's. However, this approach changes in multi way pots. When betting into multiple opponents on the flop, turn, or river, it is usually best to use smaller bet sizes, as the equity in the pot is spread out and players are less likely to fold. No Gamble, No Future is an American poker television program that airs on PokerGO, and premiered on August 1, 2022. It has featured players such as Phil Hellmuth ‘The Poker Brat', Andrew Robl ‘good2cu', Eric Persson, Patrick Antonius ‘The Finn', Matt Berkey, Nik Airball, Rampage Poker, Wolfgang Poker, and Daniel Negreanu ‘DNegs' ‘KidPoker'. This episode from season 7 featured Phil Hellmuth, Joe Stapleton, Nick Wright & Jennifer Tilly. Preflop:Phil Hellmuth in the small blind, Jennifer Tilly in the big blind, Nick Wright from under the gun, Rips out of the lojack, Lightning from the hijack, Joe Stapleton from the cutoff, and DrDad on the button all agree to do a $100 bomb pot. Flop – Js Jd 8d:Hellmuth is first to act and checks, having flopped best with A8 of hearts, which is now two pair, jacks and eights. Tilly checks her pair of sixes and Wright decides to check his 94o that only has a backdoor straight possibility. With K7o, Rips also has a backdoor straight draw so he decides to check. Stapleton holds AQ of diamonds and has a flush draw with a backdoor straight draw of his own. Stapleton fires out for the minimum bet of $50. DrDad has the same two pair as Hellmuth but he has the inferior kicker. He chooses to raise to $300, and is met by a cold 3-bet from Hellmuth to $800. The action folds back to the popular poker commentator, Stapleton, who has been covering the European Poker Tour (EPT) for over a decade. Stapleton reluctantly folds his two overcards and ace-high flush draw. DrDad calls, and the two poker players head to the turn. Turn – 4h:Hellmuth slows down and checks the four of hearts on the turn and DrDad checks behind. River – 8s:Both players improve to the same boat, eights full of jacks on the river, and a chop pot looks likely. Hellmuth checks for the last time, and DrDad chooses to overbet for $2,500. Will Hellmuth call this off and take half the pot, or will his white magic fail him and he will incorrectly fold a full house? Stay tuned to the end of this poker video to see what happens! Sasquatch is an American true crime documentary television series that premiered on Hulu on April 20, 2021,[1] with a South by Southwest pre-release screen on March 16, 2021. The show begins with investigative journalist David Holthouse's recalling a story he heard in 1993 on a cannabis farm in Mendocino County, part of the Emerald Triangle in Northern California. Holthouse heard someone say that Bigfoot has killed three people on a nearby cannabis farm.[2] Throughout the show Holthouse talks with marijuana growers and law enforcement in Mendocino County, who tell him about possible connections to the Hells Angels biker gang and Spy Rock Road, a lawless marijuana growing area of Mendocino County near Laytonville. On December 7, 2023, executive producer Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, announced that he was developing a Sean Combs docuseries and that proceeds from the project would go to victims of the sexual misconduct allegations against Combs. Before hiring Alexandra Stapleton to direct the series, Jackson had been working on the project for five months, looking for people close to Combs who were willing to "speak and tell the truth". Cassie Ventura, Combs's former partner, was invited to participate in the series, but declined. However, Jackson stated that he personally spoke with Ventura and her husband, Alex Fine, "to understand how things transpired" with Combs. Netflix announced production of the series on September 25, 2024, one week after Combs was arrested on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Jackson and Stapleton said: This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far. We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives. While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs' story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture's broader contributions. The series features clips of Combs in the days before his 2024 arrest, prompting questions over how Jackson and Netflix acquired the personal footage. Stapleton stated, "It came to us, we obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights."We have a PATREON! click on link below to check out the extra content.PatreonPlease SUBSCRIBE to the podcast and give us a 5-star review. We are on Instagram and TikTok @psychlegalpopEmail: psychlegalpoppodcast@gmail.comCheck out our YouTube Channel!#seancombsthereckoning #seancombs #diddy #pdiddy #puffdaddy #puffy #seanpuffycombs #seanpdiddycombs #seandiddycombs #cassieventura #kimporter #jlo #albsure #aubreyoday #makingtheband #danitykane #documentary #pdiddydocuseries #netflix #netflixdocumentary #netflixseancombsthereckoning #netflixpdiddy #netflixdiddy #badboyrecords #seancombstrial #psychology #attorney #therapist #law #lawyer #popculture #popularculture #truecrime #truecrimepdiddy #truecrimediddy #notoriousbig #biggiesmalls #tupac #tupacshakur #sugeknight Hosted on Acast.
