Welcome to our Live: Calvary Church podcast, where we delve into the transformative power of faith, hope, and love in navigating the challenges of the modern world. Join us as we explore inspiring and timeless biblical wisdom that resonates with our contemporary lives. Join us for this week's episode of "Best of: What are you expecting?” Let's explore together and discover the profound impact these virtues can have on our personal growth, relationships, and the world around us.Scripture Reference:Acts 3:1-5New International Version3 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
Have you ever felt like God keeps repeating something to you? In Acts 11, Peter hears the same message three times before fully understanding what God was saying. But why does God repeat Himself? Because when He does, it's important! In this message, we dive into Acts 11:1-18 to explore how God uses repetition to get our attention, challenge our assumptions, and call us to obedience—even when we don't fully understand. Peter had to overcome cultural traditions, criticism, and personal hesitation to step into God's bigger plan. The same is true for us today.
Scripture Reference: Acts 1:1-11 Acts 1:1-11 examines the church's role in God's mission. It explores how Jesus' ascension marks the continuation of His work through His people and warns against the dangers of mission drift. This message calls believers to remain focused on the gospel and to joyfully embrace their role as witnesses to the ends of the earth.
Big Idea: Maturing disciples grow in biblical literacy through intentional rhythms. This week, we focused on Acts 11:19-26, exploring how consistent engagement with Scripture shapes us as followers of Christ. Biblical literacy not only strengthens personal faith but also helps us better disciple others and live out God's mission.
Big Idea: Mature disciples willingly support God's work when they develop the right mindsets. This week, we focused on Acts 4:32-36, exploring how generosity and unity reflect a heart for God's kingdom. What we give—time, resources, and faith—shows our trust in Him.
This week, we focused on Acts 6:1-7, reflecting on the importance of service within the church community. Serving together not only supports the church but leads to spiritual growth, strengthened relationships, and the multiplication of disciples. God's work thrives when we serve in unity, grounded in faith and wisdom.
Big Idea: Maturing disciples engage in the rhythm of spiritual community. This week in our “Rhythms” series, we reflected on Acts 2:42-47, focusing on how fellowship, teaching, prayer, generosity, and grace shape our faith journey. Together, we're learning to build authentic relationships, extend grace to one another, care for our community, and live out God's mission in our daily lives.
Big Idea: Maturing disciples engage in the rhythm of gathering together. This message from Acts 2:42-47 reminds us how the early church grew spiritually by gathering in fellowship, teaching, breaking bread, and prayer. True maturity happens when we live out our faith together.
