In this Advent Series, week 3, our big truth is that when I am small, and Jesus is large, my Joy is huge. John gives us a pattern for how this can increase Joy in our lives. Our Joy will increase when we see that we have everything because of grace. Anything that we have in our lives that is a good gift from God is just that! It is God's grace to us. Our Joy increases when we have a specific role from God, just as John the Baptist knew he had a particular role within the kingdom, to pave the way for Jesus as a fulfillment of prophecy. When you can realize & be confident that you are precisely where God has you, that brings freedom & Joy! Lastly, our Joy will increase when we know that we are not the main point. We are just here to point people to the groom - JESUS. He must increase, and I must decrease! As we learn to live, we must measure our Joy by how much we love Christ, not by comparing with others. How can you make Christ big in the specific context he has called YOU this week? This sermon is from 12/21/2025
Sometimes it doesn’t feel like Christmas “should feel.” Sometimes there is no joy. Jesus knows. He has been there. The post Jesus identifies when there is no joy (John 6:60-67; John 11:32-35) appeared first on PLEASANT HILL COMMUNITY CHURCH.
Because of Jesus, joy is obtainable and sustainable. Having been born disconnected from God, we know all too well the struggle to find and keep joy. We battle the enemy day in and day out, as he attempts to suppress and steal our joy. Listen as we discuss our shared quest for joy and how Christmas makes it a reality.

4. Only Children Feast on Joy (John 15:12-17) by Church in the Square (Sermon Audio)
Speaker: Nate HoldridgeText: John 15:1-16:4Overview: In this sermon from Calvary Monterey, Pastor Nate Holdridge examines John 15 to reveal the blueprint for a life of full and lasting joy. Jesus teaches that this joy is not a feeling we chase but the result of cultivating three essential relationships: an upward relationship of abiding in Him, an inward relationship of loving His people, and an outward relationship of resilient witness to the world. This teaching provides a clear and practical diagnostic for our spiritual health, inviting us to find our ultimate satisfaction in our connection to Christ and His body.Link to Discussion Questions

FROM SORROW TO JOY John 16:16-33 I. Jesus Speaks of His Departure; vs.16-20 II. Jesus Promises Joy; vs.21-24 III. Jesus Speaks of The Father; vs.25-32 IV. Jesus Offers Peace; vs.33 Jesus announces sad news and glad news to his disciples. They are told He will be leaving. They are told sorrow will fill their heart. They are then assured joy will come when they see him again.

Joy is not an accident. It's a fruit of the Spirit that grows from attention, action, and cultivation. In contrast much of our online lives are lived passively comparing ourselves to others without even thinking about it. Algorithms are designed to keep us longing for what we don't have, by showing us lives just out of reach. This is an upward envy that creates a downward disdain and erodes joy. But God life with God gives us the good work of Joy. Joy is deep, personal, and often tied to the relationships that reflect God's love and goodness.Become New is here to help you grow spiritually one day at a time.

SERMON: TURNING SORROW INTO JOYSCRIPTURE: John 16:16-24)SERIES: WHEN JOY RETURNS
There's one thing we can all be sure of, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey: There will be countless moments in your life that will simply make no sense, thereby threatening your peace and stealing your joy. Fortunately, we are not left with only two options in these moments—either understand everything and rest in peace or understand little of what is going on around you and have no hope. The Bible actually tells us that there is a third way. A way to have sturdy, lasting joy that doesn't rise and fall with the circumstances of your life. A way to be able to face sorrow and the uncertainty and confusion in your world with hope and confidence.
It is time this very minute to pray and seek God. Time to set our timers and pray for the minute. This podcast encourages us to stop for a minute and, now, in the presence of our Heavenly Father—with praise and prayer—worship Him in Jesus' name and in the power of the Holy Spirit. ———— *We do not own the rights to music played on this podcast.
We search in many places, but only Jesus satisfies our thirst for joy.

Michael originally taught ‘Sorrow Turned Into Joy' (John 16:16-22) at Immanuel Bible Church. Some focuses of this sermon: Cultural obsession with happiness often leads to dissatisfaction. True happiness is not found in material possessions or achievements. Joy is a gift that comes from a relationship with Christ. To read the show notes, click here.

With Christmas in the rear view mirror, we have a New Year and 2025 on the horizon; the disciples were similarly heading into a season of life where they had no clue what was in store for them. All they had were the words and promises of Jesus to cling to, to prepare their hearts for what lies ahead. The same is true for us. But with that in mind I want to ask you a question to help shape our time together: How does the reality that the God of the universe loves you, shape the way you live or want to live in this New Year?

The fourth week of Advent invites us to reflect on joy—true joy—and how we experience it. Get your FREE Unhurried Advent Guide here. This 25-day guide is filled with Scripture meditations, devotional readings with reflective questions, and contemplative imagery—all designed to help you slow down and savor the Advent season. Created in collaboration with Unhurried Living, a ministry I'm confident you'll love. Joy is the focus of this final week of Advent. What I love about joy is that it weaves through all the themes of Advent: We have joy because Jesus is our sure hope. We have joy because Jesus is the Prince of Peace. We have joy because God is love, and Jesus reveals this to us. At the heart of it all, we have joy because of Jesus—our Savior, who came to us that first Christmas morning. In this meditation, we'll explore how we can know more joy.John 15:9-12 ties joy to a somewhat surprising source—obedience and love. Jesus tells us that true, overflowing joy comes when we follow his command to love one another as he has loved us. As you meditate on this passage, may you rest in God's love for you and discover the deep, overflowing joy that comes from loving as Jesus loves. Get your FREE Unhurried Advent Guide here. 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
A @Christadelphians Video:Description: The apostle John wrote the letter to combat the teaching of the Gnostics, who underplayed the seriousness of sin. He emphasises various themes and contrasts, such as Light/Darkness; Love/Hate and Truth/Lies. He shows that God is Light, God is Love and Truth comes from God's Word. Sin now dominates the World. We need to walk in Christ, seek to live a life of holiness by keeping God's commandments. The victory that overcomes the world is our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.### SummaryJohn's letter emphasizes the importance of true fellowship with God, the necessity of confessing sins, and the call to live in the light, contrasting it with darkness.### Highlights-

In his sermon "Fullness of Joy," Pastor Rob McCoy delves into John 17, exploring the joy that Christ experienced even as He faced the cross. Pastor McCoy explains that Christ's joy stemmed from His unbroken fellowship with the Father, true faith and confidence, recognizing God's great works, and avoiding deception and the devil's foothold. This serves as a powerful example for us to find joy amidst our trials. Watch and learn how to achieve this understanding and discover joy on the other side.Verse References: John 17 verses 13-23, Isaiah 53:3Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com.
