A viral video. A smeared daycare worker. A community in panic. Sound familiar? In the 1980s, a wave of hysteria swept the country, accusing daycare workers of abusing children in Satanic rituals — accusations that ruined lives and were entirely false. Now, a dubious video out of Minnesota is sparking the same kind of moral panic all over again. To make sense of the moment, I sat down with Sarah Marshall, host of the new CBC podcast The Devil You Know, to trace the through-line from the Satanic Panic to today's daycare scandals — and ask what it says about us that we keep falling for this. 1. Claims about U.S. immigration and corruption The U.S. has historically admitted immigrants from countries labeled as “highly corrupt” by Transparency International. Examples mentioned include South Sudan, Somalia, Venezuela, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, among others. Vetting immigrants from these countries is “nearly impossible” due to poor record‑keeping, bribery, and document fraud. 2. Reference to Trump administration policies Donald Trump previously restricted immigration from certain nations via executive orders. These restrictions were due to corruption concerns and an inability to verify documents from those regions. 3. Criticism of the Biden administration The Biden administration continued issuing visas to individuals from these “corrupt” nations, citing specific visa numbers (e.g., Venezuelan admissions). Allowing potentially unvetted migrants into the U.S. 4. Concerns about fraudulent documents Applicants in corrupt nations can obtain fake documents—birth certificates, police records, passports, diplomas—via bribes. This is presented as a major risk to U.S. vetting systems. 5. Political commentary on Democratic leaders Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Gavin Newsom are criticized for acknowledging migration problems while also condemning Trump’s approach. Democrats are both: admitting migration has become “destabilizing” and simultaneously criticizing U.S. border enforcement agencies. 6. Claims of “chaos” caused by Democratic policies The narrative argues that Democrats created disorder at the border and in U.S. cities. The author asserts Trump is “cleaning up the mess” and that this angers political opponents. 7. Accusations of unfair comparisons to authoritarian regimes Democrats comparing U.S. immigration enforcement agencies to authoritarian “secret police” or Nazi‑like forces. 2.Michael Vlahos as Germanicus joins Gaius in examining the elite obsession with Jeffrey Epstein through a historical lens of witchcraft and sorcery accusations. Gaius introduces an analogy involving Louis XIII using accusations of witchcraft to explain political assassinations, applying this framework to the modern overclass fascination with Epstein. He suggests elites cast Epstein as a sorcerer figure to absolve themselves of complicity in his crimes and their own participation in corruption. Germanicus agrees, arguing that the atheistic ruling class deploys Epstein as a fallen angel archetype, framing him as an unstoppable supernatural force of seduction so they can claim victimhood rather than confronting systemic corruption. Germanicus illustrates this dynamic with a story from The Howling about monks imprisoning the devil to prevent war, symbolizing humanity's desire to externalize evil rather than confront personal sin. The sheer volume of released Epstein files acts as contracts for sold souls, reinforcing the narrative that an external devil bears responsibility. Germanicus concludes these elites are cynical materialists who, unable to comprehend spiritual dynamics or acknowledge their own guilt, retreat to ancient superstitions to explain their entrapment and exonerate themselves from the corrupt world they lead.3.Michael Vlahos as Germanicus explores with Gaius the seventeenth-century practice of dynastic marriage as a superior geopolitical tool compared to modern warfare's impulse toward total destruction. Gaius highlights the unions connecting the Hapsburg, Bourbon, and Stuart empires, observing that the magic of resolving conflict through marriage has been lost entirely. Germanicus explains that these networks of bloodlines created a unified European sensibility and stability that limited war's severity because monarchs were cousins bound by family obligation and shared aristocratic culture. Wars remained limited affairs rather than existential struggles for national survival. Germanicus attributes the loss of this restraint to the French Revolution, which replaced aristocratic connections with religious nationalism and a Darwinian struggle for survival, culminating in the total wars of the twentieth century that devastated entire civilizations. While true dynastic geopolitics has vanished from international relations, Germanicus observes a strange egalitarian counterpart emerging in the American overclass through the nepo baby phenomenon. He argues that elite families in Hollywood and politics now pass down wealth and status across generations, mimicking aristocratic patterns without the intergenerational stability, diplomatic utility, or civilizational responsibility characteristic of Roman senatorial families or royal European houses.

Leslie Wexner, the billionaire founder of L Brands (which once included Victoria's Secret), has publicly claimed that Jeffrey Epstein betrayed his trust by misappropriating vast sums of money and engaging in unauthorized financial dealings on his behalf. According to Wexner's account, Epstein was given broad authority over parts of his financial and personal affairs in the 1990s and early 2000s, which he later said Epstein exploited for personal gain. Wexner has suggested that Epstein used that trust to essentially enrich himself—reportedly diverting assets and profiting from deals without clear documentation or approval. This purported betrayal, in Wexner's telling, was one of the factors that ultimately ended Epstein's professional relationship with him. Wexner has characterized the financial conduct as deceitful and exploitative, suggesting Epstein's financial acumen was a smokescreen for self-enrichment at Wexner's expense. However, a skeptical reading of this narrative raises several unresolved questions and inconsistencies. For one, some details about the scope and mechanics of the alleged financial misconduct remain vague or unverified in public records, leading observers to wonder whether the claims reflect specific documented thefts or a broader, more generalized sense of “being cheated.” Epstein today is often portrayed as having inflated his financial expertise; this has led some analysts to speculate that any discrepancies in Wexner's accounts might stem less from theft and more from sloppy bookkeeping, mutual misunderstanding, or projection after the relationship soured. Additionally, because Wexner's statements have sometimes appeared defensive or self-serving—emphasizing his own victimization—the possibility arises that the narrative simplifies or amplifies elements of the relationship to deflect scrutiny from his judgment in empowering Epstein in the first place. Until more concrete evidence is produced, the precise nature and extent of any alleged financial misconduct by Epstein toward Wexner remains a subject of debate rather than settled fact.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Welcome to episode #1023 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). In an era where outrage travels faster than reflection, few accusations carry as much moral force as the charge of hypocrisy… and yet few concepts are as misunderstood. Michael Hallsworth is Chief Behavioral Scientist at the Behavioral Insights Team and a leading voice in behavioral economics, with academic appointments at the University of Pennsylvania and a career devoted to understanding how real people actually think and act in complex systems. His research spans public policy, organizational behavior and social judgment, examining how incentives, norms, and cognitive biases shape everything from government programs to corporate decision-making. In his new book, The Hypocrisy Trap - How Changing What We Criticize Can Improve Our Lives, Michael challenges the conventional belief that hypocrisy is simply a moral failing to be stamped out. Instead, he reframes it as a process… an inconsistency we dislike because we believe someone is gaining an unjust benefit… and argues that relentless accusations can backfire, breeding cynicism, polarization, and institutional decay. Drawing on evolutionary psychology, behavioral science, and contemporary case studies, he distinguishes between common standards hypocrisy and the more corrosive double standards that undermine fairness itself. He explores how social media amplifies moralistic aggression, how public signaling can both distort and reshape behavior, and why tolerating certain forms of inconsistency may be necessary for leadership and democratic compromise. Rather than excusing deception, Michael calls for sharper discernment: identifying which inconsistencies cause real harm and which reflect the unavoidable trade-offs of human life. Grounded in rigorous scholarship yet strikingly practical, his work urges greater self-reflection, empathy and intellectual humility in a culture quick to condemn. Rizz swears on everything holy that it wasn't him. Accusations fly. A potential Wiener Bandit is identified. The crew analyzes drawing styles, angles, left vs. right orientation, artistic intent, and whether there's a deeper psychological meaning behind how one draws a windshield dong. This daily comedy show asks the questions science refuses to.As if that wasn't enough, the show pivots hard into a full Super Bowl recap: Bad Bunny's halftime show, dancing (and non-dancing) grass, surprise celebrity appearances, respectful horniness, missed opportunities for Metallica, and Rizz openly questioning why Bruno Mars was apparently uninvited. The crew breaks down the commercials, the anthem timing controversy, AI ads everywhere, crypto confusion, and why Andy Cohen briefly caused panic in living rooms across America. The episode wraps with celebrity news, tributes to fallen musicians, festival drama, birthdays, and a classic Rizz Show porno birthday to remind you that yes — this is still a daily comedy show and no one is safe. It's messy. It's loud. It's oddly introspective. And much like your car, it probably needs to be cleaned… but you won't.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

If you've ever wondered what peak American efficiency looks like, allow us to introduce Officer John ‘Merica — who literally hopped into the back of a Ford pickup truck to help catch a bike thief while Fortunate Son played like it was scripted by the universe. That alone earns this episode a permanent place in daily comedy show history. But that's just the opening act.The real chaos begins when the Rizz Show crew unveils Around the Horn: Mind Meld Edition, a seemingly innocent word game that immediately exposes competitive instincts, questionable handwriting, defensive strategies, and one of the most intense debates over whether “Tequila” and “Tequila Sunrise” are legally the same thing. (They are not. According to Riz. Final ruling.)From winter activities that absolutely shouldn't count, to body parts no one planned on saying out loud, to sudden death purse contents deciding the final winners — this episode spirals exactly the way you want a daily comedy show to spiral: loudly, unnecessarily, and with just enough confusion to keep it interesting.Accusations of conspiracies fly. Southern Illinois logic makes an appearance. Tang is deployed as a strategic answer. And somehow, through all of this, two winners emerge while everyone else questions their life choices. This is the Rizz Show at its finest — weird news, competitive nonsense, and real-time arguments that only make sense if you were there… which is why you should be here. If you like your daily comedy show messy, loud, and unapologetically stupid in the best way, welcome home.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

BREAKING: Brendan Banfield Takes the Stand — Calls Murder Accusations "Absurd" in Au Pair Trial

Brendan Banfield just bet everything on himself. The Virginia man accused of killing his wife Christine and a stranger named Joseph Ryan took the witness stand today in Fairfax County Circuit Court. It's a move most defense attorneys advise against — once you testify, everything you say becomes ammunition for the prosecution. But Banfield apparently decided the only way to beat the au pair's testimony was to counter it directly. And counter it he did. Banfield admitted the affair with Juliana Peres Magalhães, the family's Brazilian au pair. He said it started in August 2022. But he told the jury he was upfront with her — this was just another affair, and it wasn't going to change his relationship with his wife. He said both he and Christine had strayed before. They'd gone to counseling. They'd made the decision to stay together. When asked if he plotted with the au pair to kill Christine, Banfield's response was immediate: "No, there was no plan." He called the accusation "absurd" and "absolutely crazy."The prosecution's theory is that Banfield and the au pair catfished Joseph Ryan using a fake profile on a fetish website, lured him to the house, then killed both Ryan and Christine in an elaborate staged crime scene. The au pair, who flipped on Banfield in exchange for a plea deal, testified to exactly that. Now the jury has two completely different stories. And Banfield has to survive cross-examination Thursday morning.#BrendanBanfield #TrueCrimeToday #AuPairAffair #ChristineBanfield #MurderTrial #FairfaxVirginia #JosephRyan #TrueCrimeNews #CourtTV #BreakingCrimeJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Send us a textRHOSLC-Reunion Reckoning: Accountability, Addiction Accusations & a Shocking SeparationPodcast Summary – RHOSLC Season 6 Reunion Part 3Part 3 of the RHOSLC Season 6 reunion picks up in full emotional freefall. Britani storms off after being labeled anti-Semitic, returning in tears while Meredith remains firm that the situation was misunderstood and already resolved. Mary steps into an unlikely mediator role, challenging Meredith's lack of awareness and calling her confusion “alarming.”The bulk of the episode centers on the explosive fallout from the plane ride drama. Whitney takes accountability for labeling Meredith an addict, admitting the comment was dangerous, reactionary, and rooted in frustration over being called a liar. Meredith, however, maintains that accusations about drugs and mood swings are damaging to her reputation and business, even offering to take a drug test on the spot. The tension escalates when Meredith is accused of throwing production under the bus, prompting Whitney, Mary, and others to fiercely defend the behind-the-scenes team.Lisa breaks down over her marriage, feeling undervalued and publicly hurt by John's comments, while firmly refusing to take accountability for things she says she didn't do. Mary bluntly tells her that if her husband says she doesn't listen, he probably knows best — a moment that lands hard. The reunion takes a heavy turn when Bronwyn reveals she and Todd are separated. She opens up about feeling isolated, silenced, and reduced to PR in her marriage, while navigating grief, family caretaking, and public scrutiny. Her vulnerability deeply affects Whitney, who leaves the stage overwhelmed and seeks comfort from Justin backstage, highlighting the emotional toll the season has taken on multiple marriages. As the reunion winds down, unresolved friendships linger — Heather and Meredith confirm they are no longer friends — while Angie and Lisa tentatively agree to move forward. The cast closes with reflections on growth, accountability, patience, acceptance, and change, ending the season with baklava, humor, and a toast to health, sisterhood, and surviving Salt Lake City.Support the showhttps://www.wewinewhenever.com/

Ai slop as usual for shownotes. If HKJ pays me some of those HKDs then I'll maybe make an effort. Until then, eat your robot kibble and enjoy the show! Australia Day tensions at home and political shocks abroad drive this packed episode of The Two Jacks. Joel (Jack the Insider) and Hong Kong Jack unpack the Liberal–National implosion, leadership manoeuvring, hate‑speech laws and neo‑Nazi “martyrs” springing from Australia Day rallies and a near‑catastrophic device in Perth. They then cross to the US for the fallout from the ICE killing of Minneapolis nurse Alex Pretty, Kristi Noem's precarious future, Trump's political instincts, and Mark Carney's Davos warning that we now live in a world with “no rules.” Along the way they dissect Brexit's economic hangover, EU over‑regulation, India's Republic Day contrast with Australia's low‑key national day, and finish with sport: Premier League title nerves, Australian Open heat controversies, bushfires, and a final detour through film censorship trivia in Ireland.00:00 – Theme and intro00:25 – Welcome back to The Two Jacks; Joel (Jack the Insider) in Australia and Hong Kong Jack set the scene for episode 142, recorded 27 January, the day after Australia Day.Australian politics and the Liberal–National implosion00:40 – Coalition “no more”: the decoupling of Liberals and Nationals, and whether Anthony Albanese is the Stephen Bradbury of Australian politics or a quiet tactician.01:10 – How Labor's racial vilification moves and 18C history boxed the opposition in; Susan Ley's failed emergency‑sitting gambit on antisemitism laws.02:00 – Firearms law changes and new powers to ban hate groups like Hizb ut‑Tahrir and the National Socialist Network, and the role of ASIO referrals and ministerial discretion.03:10 – Canavan's “slippery slope” fears about bans being turned on mainstream groups, and what that reveals about the Nationals' hunger for anti‑immigration rhetoric under pressure from One Nation and Pauline Hanson.Centre‑right parties in a squeeze04:00 – The Nationals as the “five‑percenters” who pull the coalition's agenda with a small vote share; listener Bassman calls them the “un‑Nationals.”05:00 – Global “tough times” for centre‑right parties: the pincer between moving to the centre (and leaving a vacuum for far‑right populists) or moving right and losing the middle.05:40 – Hong Kong Jack's argument for broad churches: keeping everyone from sensible One Nation types to inner‑city wets under one tent, as Labor did with its far‑left “fruit loops” in the 1980s.07:00 – Decline of small‑l liberals inside the Liberal Party, the thinning ranks of progressive conservatives, and the enduring “sprinkling of nuts” on the hard right.Leadership spills and who's next07:20 – Susan Ley's lonely press conferences, Ted O'Brien's silence, and the air of inevitability about a leadership spill before or by budget time.08:20 – Why the leadership needs “strength at the top”: the Gareth Evans line to Hawke – “the dogs are pissing on your swag” – as a metaphor for knowing when to go.09:20 – Conversation about Angus Taylor, Andrew Hastie, Ted O'Brien and even Tim Wilson as possible leaders, and why the wrong timing can make almost anyone opposition leader.10:40 – History lesson: unlikely leaders who flourished, from Henry Bolte in Victoria to Albanese, once dismissed by his own colleagues as a long shot.11:40 – Albanese's long apprenticeship: learning from Howard's cautious style and the Rudd–Gillard chaos, and his instinct for the national mood.Listener mail: Nationals, Barnaby and “public bar” politicians13:00 – Listener Lawrence compares One Nation to Britain's Reform Party; asks if Barnaby Joyce's baggage (drought envoy rorts, “Watergate,” drunken footpath photo) undermines his retail skills.14:20 – Debating whether Barnaby ever was the “best retail politician” in the country; why he works brilliantly in rural and regional pubs but is “poison in the cities.”16:10 – The “public bar” politician ideal: Barnaby as hail‑fellow‑well‑met who genuinely likes the people he's talking to, contrasted with Whitlam and Fraser looking awkward in 1970s pub photo ops.17:20 – John Howard scrounging a fiver to shout a round, Barry Jones dying in Warrnambool pubs, and why Bob Hawke and Tony Abbott always looked at home with a schooner.Australia Day, antisemitism and street violence18:00 – Australia Day wrap: The Australian newspaper's “social cohesion crisis” framing after antisemitism, violence and extremist rhetoric.19:10 – Perth's rudimentary explosive device: ball bearings and screws around a liquid in a glass “coffee cup” thrown into an Invasion Day crowd at Forrest Place; police clear the area quickly.21:00 – Melbourne: small March for Australia turnout, scuffles between their supporters and Invasion Day marchers, arrests likely to follow.22:10 – Sydney: March for Australia rally of around 2,000 ending at Moore Park, open mic session, and the selection of a man wearing a Celtic cross shirt who launches into a vile antisemitic rant.23:20 – His subsequent arrest in Darlinghurst and the Section 93Z charge (publicly threatening or inciting violence on racial or religious grounds), with possible three‑year jail term and $11,000 fine.24:40 – Why the speech appears to meet the elements of the offence, and how such defendants are quickly turned into martyrs and crowdfunding heroes by the extreme right.26:10 – The psychology of self‑styled martyrs seeking notoriety and donations; parallels with “Free Joel Davis” signs after threats to MP Allegra Spender.Australia Day vs India's Republic Day27:20 – Australia Day clashing with India's Republic Day: Joel only just realises the overlap; Jack has known for years.28:00 – History recap: Australia Day as a 1930s invention, not a national holiday until Keating's government in 1995; its big cultural take‑off in the 1988 Bicentennial year.29:10 – India's enormous Republic Day parade: 10,000+ guests, missiles and tanks on show, EU leaders in attendance, congratulations from President Trump and President Xi – easily out‑shining Australia's low‑key day.30:00 – Why big military parades feel culturally wrong in Australia; the discomfort with tanks and squeaky‑wheeled machinery rolling down main streets.30:30 – The 26 January date debate: protests by Invasion Day marchers vs “flag shaggers,” plateauing protest numbers, and the sense that for most Australians it's just another day off.31:20 – Arguments for a different nation‑building day (maybe early January for a built‑in long weekend), and the need for a better way to celebrate Australia's achievements without performative patriotism.32:40 – Local citizenship ceremonies, Australia Day ambassadors and quiet country‑town rituals that still work well in spite of the culture war.Minneapolis outrage, ICE shootings and US politics34:20 – Turning to the United States: the shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretty by ICE agents in Minneapolis and the shock it has injected into US domestic politics.34:50 – Video evidence vs official narrative: Pretty appears to be disarmed before being shot; the administration initially claiming he was planning a massacre of ICE agents.35:40 – Trump's early blame of Democrat officials and policies, then a noticeable shift as outrage spreads more broadly across the political spectrum and the Insurrection Act chatter cools.36:20 – Tom Homan's deployment to Minneapolis, the demotion of Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino, and reports that Homan will now report directly to President Trump rather than Kristi Noem.37:10 – Internal GOP friction: suggestions Noem relished confrontation, while Homan did not; speculation Noem may be the first cabinet‑level casualty.38:00 – Use of children as bait in immigration operations, American citizens detained, and two civilians shot dead by ICE; discussion of likely multi‑million‑dollar compensation exposure.39:00 – Allegations of bribery and “missing 50 large,” the checkered backgrounds of some ICE agents and rumours about extremist links and failed cops finding a home in ICE.40:00 – A snap YouGov poll: 46% of respondents wanting ICE disbanded, 41% opposed, and how this feeds the narrative that Noem will be thrown under the bus.Sanctuary cities, federal power and Pam Bondi's letter41:10 – Trump's boastful but error‑strewn talk on Article 5 of the NATO treaty, and his correction that still belittled allies' sacrifices in Afghanistan.41:40 – Casualties by nation: US 2,461, then significant losses from the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Australia, Poland, Spain and others – disproving Trump's “America alone” framing.42:30 – Sanctuary cities vs federal supremacy: recalling the 2012 Arizona case where the Supreme Court confirmed immigration enforcement as a federal responsibility, and how that collides with sanctuary policies.43:10 – Pam Bondi's letter to Minnesota's governor after the second ICE killing: reported threat to pull ICE agents in exchange for electoral records, and the ominous implications of such demands.Greenland, Davos and market games44:00 – Trump's Greenland obsession revisited: from bluster at Davos about tariffs on European allies to a supposed “deal” that no‑one, including the Danes, can define.44:40 – How tariff threats knocked markets down, then his Davos announcement walked them back and sent markets up; Ted Cruz warning Trump that crashing 401(k)s and high inflation would make the midterms a bloodbath.45:40 – Japan and the US bond market: a brief panic in Japanese bonds, a Danish super fund's sale of US Treasuries, and the longer‑term vulnerability given that Japan, China and the EU hold so much US debt.46:30 – Trump's relentless pressure on the Fed for lower rates in an inflationary environment, and the comparison with Erdogan's disastrous low‑rate, high‑inflation experiment in Turkey.Davos speeches and a world with no rules47:10 – Mark Carney's standout Davos speech: we now live in a geopolitical environment with “no rules,” and the post‑WWII rules‑based order has largely broken down.47:50 – Carney's planned March visit to Australia and likely address to a joint sitting of Parliament, plus his reputation as a sharp, articulate central banker.48:20 – Hong Kong Jack's scepticism about “international law” as more fiction than practice; non‑Western powers paying lip service while ignoring it in reality.49:00 – The German Chancellor's more consequential Davos speech on EU failures, competitiveness, and the need to reinvent Europe, backed in by Italian PM Giorgia Meloni.49:40 – The “Sir Humphrey” view of the EU: you can only reform Brussels from the inside, not from outside as Brexit Britain is discovering.Brexit's economic hit50:10 – Chancellor Mertz's critique of EU over‑regulation and the “world champions at regulation” line; the EU as an anti‑competitive behemoth that lost its free‑trade roots.50:50 – Why countries like Spain struggle alone but “pack a punch” within the EU's collective GDP; Brexit as a decision to leave the world's biggest trading bloc.51:20 – UK Office for Budget Responsibility analysis: since the 2016 referendum, estimated UK GDP per capita by 2025 is 6–8% lower than it would have been, with investment 12–18% lower and employment 3–4% lower than the “remain” counterfactual.52:10 – How these losses emerged slowly, then accumulated as uncertainty persisted, trade barriers rose and firms diverted resources away from productive activity.52:40 – Jack challenges the counterfactual: notes that actual UK GDP growth is only a couple of points below EU averages and doubts that UK governments would have outperformed Europe even without Brexit.53:20 – Joel's rejoinder that the OBR work is widely accepted and that Brexit has created profound long‑term impacts on Britain's economy over the next 5–10 years.Sport: cricket, Premier League and Australian Open heat55:20 – Australian cricket's depth: promising leg‑spinners and other talent juggling Shield cricket with gigs in the Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League and more.55:50 – Premier League title race: Arsenal's lead cut from seven to four points after a 3–2 loss to an invigorated Manchester United that also beat City in the derby.56:30 – The “sugar hit” of a new coach at United, reverting to a more traditional style and the question of how long the bounce will last.57:10 – Australian Open “Sinner controversy”: oppressive heat, the heat index rules for closing the roof, Jannik Sinner cooked at one set all before a pause, roof closure and air‑conditioning – and then a comfortable Sinner win.58:00 – Accusations about coach Darren Cahill lobbying tournament boss Craig Tiley, and why the footage doesn't really support conspiracy theories.58:30 – Djokovic's soft run after a walkover, the emergence of 19‑year‑old American Tien with Michael Chang in his box, and Chang's devout‑Christian clay‑court glory at Roland Garros.59:20 – Heatwave conditions in southern Australia, fires in Victoria and the Otways/Jellibrand region, and a shout‑out to firefighters and residents under threat.Final odds and ends01:00:20 – Closing thoughts on Australia's weather extremes, hoping for a wind change and some respite for the fireys.01:00:50 – Jack's trivia nugget: Casablanca was once banned in Ireland for not being “sufficiently neutral” and not kind enough to the Nazis, segueing to bans on Lady Chatterley's Lover and Australian censorship history.01:02:00 – Sign‑off from Joel (Jack the Insider) and Hong Kong Jack, promising to track the Perth bombing case, hate‑speech prosecutions, Canberra leadership moves and the unfolding Minneapolis/ICE scandal in future episodes.

Owen Tudor is running out of time. With Queen Mother Catherine de Valois dead, their once‑secret marriage — and the Tudor bloodline it produced — is suddenly exposed. The English court is alarmed, the line of royal succession is in question, and powerful enemies are closing in. But political panic is only the beginning. When Eleanor Cobham is accused of witchcraft and plotting against King Henry VI, England is convulsed by one of the most explosive scandals of the 15th century. Accusations of sorcery, prophecies of regicide, and ruthless factional battles collide at the heart of the medieval court. Power, prophecy, and the birth of the Tudor dynasty meet head‑on in this gripping chapter of medieval English history — as paranoia, ambition and fear push a fragile kingdom toward chaos. – Want to delve deeper? In this episode, we discuss recent developments at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil (ESB) following the deaths of Pupy and Kenya, the sanctuary's two female African elephants, in 2025.As we have seen in recent weeks, we are living in a time that is exposing a troubling side of our society — one where false and negative claims are more readily accepted than positive truth, and where it often seems easier to believe accusations of manipulation and corruption than to accept that honesty and integrity exist. In this conversation, we examine how anti-sanctuary narratives and the temporary suspension of ESB's license to bring in new elephants have emerged in this climate — and why the impact extends beyond elephants, affecting wider wildlife rescue and rehabilitation efforts. At the same time, we explore why this difficult moment may also present an opportunity: to bring clarity through evidence-based review, and to highlight the vital — and too often misunderstood and ignored — responsibility sanctuaries around the world take on when they accept elderly, chronically ill, and end-of-life elephants into their care.We urge supporters to sign and share our petition calling for fair, transparent, and equal standards — ensuring that Elephant Sanctuary Brazil and zoos in Brazil are assessed by the same regulatory criteria. What we know so far about Pupy & Kenya's passingTransparency and Accountability for AllThe episode transcript can be found here.Email: We'd love to hear from you podcast@globalelephants.orgWho we are: Global Sanctuary for Elephants exists to create vast, safe spaces for captive elephants, where they are able to heal physically and emotionally. There are elephants around the world in need of sanctuary, but too few places exist to be able to care for even a fraction of the elephants. International support is necessary to build sanctuaries for elephants in need of rescue and rehabilitation. Our pilot project is Elephant Sanctuary Brazil where Asian and African elephants relocated from across South America live their best lives.Website: https://globalelephants.org/Donate: Global Sanctuary for Elephants is a U.S. 501(c)3 non-profit.
