0:00 ... Ross hello and welcome and introduces the crew. 0:35 ... Episode #146 is dedicated to John Konchar, who has worn #46 for his entire career in the NBA. 0:47 ... Ross live commercial read for BetOnLine 1:23 ... The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on a season-long roll and the crew breaks down the reasons for their incredible success.  Donovan Mitchell absolutely torched the Boston Celtics once again last Friday night. 7:50 ... The young Detroit Pistons team has won 9 of its last 10 games, including a huge win over the defending champion Celtics last Wednesday.  Their mix of great young talent plus newly acquired veterans like Malik Beasley have them in a great position to make the playoffs as the #6 seed in the east. 12:37 ... The Los Angeles Lakers are rolling and the chemistry is developing quickly between LeBron James and Luka Doncic.  They truly look like a team that is peaking at a good time and their defense has been incredible.  They may just be the number one threat to the OKC Thunder to represent the western conference in the NBA Finals. 18:29 ... The final two play-in spots out west look like they'll probably go to Sacramento and Dallas, but the young Portland Trailblazers are sitting at #11 and have been playing their best ball in years.  The guys size up Portland's chances of grabbing the #10 spot away from the Kings or Mavericks. 23:52 ... Jalen Suggs of the Magic will undergo surgery on his left knee and will be out indefinitely.  His loss removes a great two way player and considering what a poor shooting team the Magic are, they'll likely continue to disappoint.  In fairness to coach Jamahl Moseley, injuries to Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Suggs have derailed their season. 30:18 ... Joel Embiid of the 76ers played just 19 games this season and has been shut down for the remainder of the season.  Bruce makes some comparisons between Embiid and the late Bill Walton who was also a super talented big man who battled injuries throughout his Hall of Fame career.  The entire 76ers' season has been one big dumpster fire burning out of control. 38:23 ... Jimmy Butler may have moved on to the Bay Area, but the Butler vs. Miami saga continues as he is being sued by a company in Miami Beach.  We'll offer details. 39:49 ... Bruce's final thought is on a play he attended last Friday called "King James," which is the story of two Cavaliers fans who bonded over their love of LeBron James. 40:54 ... World B's final thought is on Stephon Curry, the greatest shooter in history and someone who will eventually be considered one of the top five players of all time if he can win one more ring. 42:53 ... Ross's final thought is on Meyers Leonard, who recently announced his retirement.  Leonard wrote a country style song about his career and Ross is impressed with the quality of the song. 44:36 ... Bruce tells his fellow Celtics fans not to panic about some recent losses since Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis missed the game against Cleveland but should be ready for the postseason in good health. 45:26 ... Ross says goodbye   TRT 45:41

The Lakers, after losing Wednesday in Sacramento, are running out of ways to make progress in the Western Conference playoff race. They currently sit in ninth, and while the literal number of games by which they trail the teams in front of them isn't crazy, it's big enough that with 15 games to go, making up ground will be tricky. Especially since the Lakers only own a tiebreaker on Phoenix, who are three games in front of them heading into Thursday's games. They're a game up on Golden State for 10th. It's starting to look like the Lakers could be locked into the 9/10 slots, and if they're not careful, 10 becomes more likely. A lot could be cleared up on Saturday when the Lakers take on the Warriors at Staples. A win puts LA in the driver's seat to host the 9/10 game. A loss makes it much more likely to play that game on the road, and therefore win two games away from the Crypt in order to advance to the big boy playoffs. One big reason for the team's inconsistency of late is Anthony Davis, who isn't playing poorly by any stretch, but in March hasn't dominated the way he has for most of the season. Scoring and efficiency are both down, and the difference makes a huge impact on the Lakers, who need Davis to be playing at the first-team All NBA level he's been at for most of the season. Finally, D'Angelo Russell created a stir this week after Dave McMenamin at ESPN posted a great story about Russell's arc as a Laker, from his arrival last year, though a rough end to the playoffs, and into this season trying to build a relationship with Darvin Ham. There was a ton of interesting stuff in it, both related to Russell himself and how he navigates his career, but also regarding comments about Darvin Ham, and team culture generally.  HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: The Lakers are dangerously close to being locked into the 9/10 spot in the West. SEGMENT 2: AD has been less consistent this month, and the impact is noticeable. SEGMENT 3: D'Angelo Russell speaks!  Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Stitch FixStyle that makes you feel as good as you look—get started today at StitchFix.com/LOCKEDONNissanOur friends at Nissan have a lineup of SUV's with the capabilities to take your adventure to the next level. In the wake of Saturday's ultra-intense, ultra-exciting double OT win over Golden State in San Francisco, there was plenty to discuss. The superlative performances of LeBron James and Stephon Curry. The continued excellent play, including one of the most shockingly ballsy 3-pointers in recent history, from D'Angelo Russell. And, of course, the incredible shot in the arm provided by Jarred Vanderbilt. But most prominent among Lakers fans was probably the combinations in which all of those players were used. Darvin Ham finally seemed to lean into last year's post-deadline starting lineup. The one that helped propel the Lakers to a Western Conference Finals appearance, and that (until Thursday against Chicago ) had not, for all intents and purposes played together. That changed Saturday, and the Lakers clearly benefitted from the change. On the season, in very limited minutes, that lineup of LeBron and Anthony Davis, plus Russell, Reaves and Jarred Vanderbilt, is a plus-30 net rating in 30 minutes on the court. Last year, this group was well above water, too. Would Ham change the starting lineup in the face of this success, and send Taurean Prince to the bench? Failing that, is he willing to start decreasing Prince's minutes in an effort to bump an obviously effective and very much in the groove Vando?Meanwhile, D'Angelo Russell is making Rob Pelinka's job much more complicated.HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: Holy bleep, Saturday was a fun game.SEGMENT 2: Has Darvin Ham finally discovered (rediscovered, really) his "lineup of death?"SEGMENT 3: The Lakers have a hard choice to make about D'Angelo Russell, who continues to play well.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!LinkedInLinkedIn Jobs helps you find the qualified candidates you want to talk to, faster. During the first round of the 2023 playoffs, Stephon Curry of the Golden State Warriors, my favorite team, was on the sideline, and his head coach, Steve Kerr, came to him and said, I'm going to rest you for a little while to save your energy. Now, let me hit pause here and confess, admit to pointing out, yes, you are getting a sports analogy. And so if you're not a sports See, type person, and you're not down with the sports ball, I'm sorry, I'm sorry for several reasons, one of which is that they are just such great analogies and images. Sports really do provide some wonderful parallels to the practice of life in general. So yes, I'm a sports fan. And yes, I like the Golden State Warriors. I love Steph Curry. And having lost both my other teams to Las Vegas. I'm celebrating and savoring my relationship with the Golden State Warriors. So with a few minutes left, I believe in the third quarter, head coach Steve Kerr comes to Steph Curry, potentially the greatest point guard in the history of basketball, and says I'm going to arrest you. Now, that is the kind of rest you and I, most of us, are used to not only getting but seeking. It's the kind of rest that is contextualized. By work, I am resting right now from work I've been doing so that I can get back to work and do it more effectively. And better. That's a certain kind of rest. And it's not a bad kind of rest. It's just limited that kind of rest in the long run, won't actually get to the depths of my soul, my being, and help reframe not just my work but my life and my orientation, even towards the work that I'm doing. In other words, there are different kinds of rest. And we kind of need all of them. Steve Kerr knew that Steph would just call them stuff out here. needed some rest in order for the second half to be everything. It could be for Steph Curry. And it turns out it was Steph dropping 30 points in the second half. And we beat us collectively. I took part in this victory. We beat the Sacramento Kings in game seven, a game seven in which Steph Curry scored 50 points, which at the time was the highest point total in all NBA history and a game seven. He's just fantastic. That was the rest he needed in order to do the job. And the value of the rest was predicated on its effectiveness on the work. And part of what we learn is that rest exposes our values, rest points at the things we think are most valuable about ourselves. And at that moment, the most important and valuable thing about Steph Curry was his ability to score. If all of the rest of my life is angled at setting me up so that I can work more efficiently, then what I expose in that kind of rest is that I believe my highest value is my productivity. Rest is a way it's a metric by which we understand, evaluate, and expose our own values. Which is why Sabbath Keeping is such an absolute scandal. Because what it says to the culture around us is that there are things more important about me than what I do for you. And you'll hear great athletes or great artists say something along those lines when interviewed, especially deeper into their careers, that there's more to them than basketball, there's more to them than rock and roll. There's more to them than what they do with even the best of their talents. About three years previous before that basketball game Marshawn Lynch, who had played in the NFL for a number of years, including for the Raiders, when they were in Oakland, gave an interview about football and, ultimately, about rest and rhythm. And he was asked to some degree, like what his advice would be to younger players, and you can read the entire thing. Or you can watch the video, which I would suggest you do for so many reasons whether or not you're a sports person. It's actually a fantastic piece of communication, what he says to the young the advice he would give to young folks, this is you said I've been on the other side of retirement, and it's good when you get over there. And you can do what you want. So I'll tell you all right now, while you're on it, take care of your bread. So when you're done, you can go ahead and take care of yourself. So while you're in it right now, to kill those bodies. Take care of those chicken. Chicken's a way to talk about money. Take care of those mental because, look, we ain't last in that long. I had a couple of players that I played with that they're no longer here no more. They're no longer you feel me. Take care of your metals, heals bodies, y'all chicken. So when you're ready to walk away, y'all walk away, and you'll be able to do what y'all want to do. What Marshawn Lynch is communicating is, while you're in the game, take care of yourself for something more than the game itself, that there is more to who you are than what you're doing in a particular season. That game was game seven of the playoffs, and Steph was tired. So the rest he needed was just enough to get him back on the court so he could do the job. And that's a way to do the game while you're in the game. It is not a way to live long-term. Sabbath Keeping and rest are practices that expose the values we are living with. And, namely, they expose the overvaluing we have of productivity as a way to define our lives. So take the advice of football legend, local hero of entrepreneur, and all-around dope dude Marshawn Lynch, that while you're doing what you're doing, take care of yourself, yes for the thing you're doing, but also in a way that when you walk away from the thing you're doing right now in this season, there's more of you.

Positivity Always Wins! Why a growth mindset matter? Are you fascinated by what determines a high performer and the rest? What makes Kobe, Kobe? Diana Taurasi, great? Tom Brady a 6th-round draft pick. Stephon Curry is possibly the greatest three-point shooter of all time.  What sets them apart? Easy. Growth Mindset. They believe they are the best at what they do. So, at their core, they believe they are the best and work to achieve that goal. Their self-belief is a powerful tool of the mind.  Successful people in sports, raising children, and relationships are all convinced they are 3-5% better at what they do. For example, Kobe most likely believed he was at least 3% better than the next second-best NBA player. Tom Brady believes he is at least 3% better, and the list continues.  Did you know that when you speak a negative word or expression out loud, it becomes 40-70% more powerful? Just one negative expression can set all the progress you have worked on back. All that hard work disciple goes out the window.  The human mind was designed to lean into the negative versus the positive. Remember, Caveman and cavewoman's brain was all about survival once they left the cave. Therefore, they pondered every NEGATIVE outcome that could go wrong, and that practice continues in most humans.  Why? I think most do not realize they can impact their mindset. They can turn it into a positive mind machine developed to support them versus holding them back. Is it easy? Nope? Is it worth it, YES! Thousand times, yes. Being the driver of your destiny versus being the passenger helps grow your mindset and achieve your dreams faster.  Each person has a Blue Rose. A calling that is unique only to YOU. NO one in the Universe can do exactly what you can do. But that is what makes you a human being in this Universe.  What path will you choose? One of negative or positive thinking? Let me know in the comments.
