0:00 ... Ross hello and welcome and introduces the crew. 0:35 ... Episode #146 is dedicated to John Konchar, who has worn #46 for his entire career in the NBA. 0:47 ... Ross live commercial read for BetOnLine 1:23 ... The Cleveland Cavaliers have been on a season-long roll and the crew breaks down the reasons for their incredible success. Donovan Mitchell absolutely torched the Boston Celtics once again last Friday night. 7:50 ... The young Detroit Pistons team has won 9 of its last 10 games, including a huge win over the defending champion Celtics last Wednesday. Their mix of great young talent plus newly acquired veterans like Malik Beasley have them in a great position to make the playoffs as the #6 seed in the east. 12:37 ... The Los Angeles Lakers are rolling and the chemistry is developing quickly between LeBron James and Luka Doncic. They truly look like a team that is peaking at a good time and their defense has been incredible. They may just be the number one threat to the OKC Thunder to represent the western conference in the NBA Finals. 18:29 ... The final two play-in spots out west look like they'll probably go to Sacramento and Dallas, but the young Portland Trailblazers are sitting at #11 and have been playing their best ball in years. The guys size up Portland's chances of grabbing the #10 spot away from the Kings or Mavericks. 23:52 ... Jalen Suggs of the Magic will undergo surgery on his left knee and will be out indefinitely. His loss removes a great two way player and considering what a poor shooting team the Magic are, they'll likely continue to disappoint. In fairness to coach Jamahl Moseley, injuries to Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Suggs have derailed their season. 30:18 ... Joel Embiid of the 76ers played just 19 games this season and has been shut down for the remainder of the season. Bruce makes some comparisons between Embiid and the late Bill Walton who was also a super talented big man who battled injuries throughout his Hall of Fame career. The entire 76ers' season has been one big dumpster fire burning out of control. 38:23 ... Jimmy Butler may have moved on to the Bay Area, but the Butler vs. Miami saga continues as he is being sued by a company in Miami Beach. We'll offer details. 39:49 ... Bruce's final thought is on a play he attended last Friday called "King James," which is the story of two Cavaliers fans who bonded over their love of LeBron James. 40:54 ... World B's final thought is on Stephon Curry, the greatest shooter in history and someone who will eventually be considered one of the top five players of all time if he can win one more ring. 42:53 ... Ross's final thought is on Meyers Leonard, who recently announced his retirement. Leonard wrote a country style song about his career and Ross is impressed with the quality of the song. 44:36 ... Bruce tells his fellow Celtics fans not to panic about some recent losses since Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis missed the game against Cleveland but should be ready for the postseason in good health. 45:26 ... Ross says goodbye TRT 45:41

He may have played 456 NBA regular season games, along with 30 playoff games, but it took a public fall for Meyers Leonard to find his true identity, joy, and peace. We are so drawn to stories of redemption, and this much is clear - through the fire, Meyers, a devoted husband and father, is now living his best life.
We assess the shooting that left six injured after the Milwaukee Juneteenth celebration yesterday. Also, Mukwonago local leaders are dealing with a pile up of goose poop (and subsequent emails about said goose poop), and Journal Sentinel sports writer Lori Nickel talks about her piece on Meyers Leonard.
Last week, new Milwaukee Buck Meyers Leonard spoke at the Jewish Community Center about his learning experience since uttering an antisemetic slur. Journal Sentinel sports writer Lori Nickel recaps the event and what Leonard has learned since that moment.
President & CEO of the Jewish Community Center Mark Shapiro joins the show to discuss the event he is having next week with Meyers Leonard. Meyers, essentially cancelled before joining the Bucks by saying an antisemitic slur while streaming playing a video game. Meyers claims he didn
The Milwaukee Bucks have some big decisions to make this season on nine of their own free agents (plus two two-way players) so Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti played should they stay or should they go now (a reference, astoundingly, made by Rohan) with all of them on the Gyro Step. The pod opens with some Bucks news though, including that Milwaukee is bringing Terry Stotts to be an offensive-minded assistant on Adrian Griffin's coaching staff and that Bobby Portis will be with Team USA for the FIBA World Cup this summer. After those items it was decision time. Rohan and Ti gave their verdicts on all of the following players: Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Jae Crowder, Wes Matthews, Jevon Carter, Goran Dragic, Meyers Leonard, Joe Ingles, Lindell Wigginton, and AJ Green. Then at the very end they threw out some random names to consider ahead of doing a deep dive on potential free agents from other teams to consider, which got pretty chaotic fast. I'm a big BAR fan and believe it to be somewhat misunderstood, especially at this juncture. We get into how the podcast has evolved into a more journalistic and narrative driven product, plus touch on the ways an Old Public Radio golden age fell apart. This discussion touches on, but is not limited to: * Katie allegedly knows nothing about sports but somehow knows the relevant details of Meyers Leonard saying “kike” while gaming. * Shouldn't the dumb jock defense help Leonard here? * White American NBA player politics * How Prestige 2000s Radio fell apart and why those carrying its torch are the people public radio hates * When you realize that the truth won't set you free, what happens next?* Katie's lost friends over what she's written but I, oddly, don't seem to have?* The challenge of sports with a lot of homophobia among players trying to advance Pride Nights* The Bon Appetit vs. Reply All Latinx Standoff Ouroboros* The Great Katie vs. Jesse debate about his leaving Twitter

After pulling out their fourteenth consecutive win (over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon) what else could Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti wonder on the latest Gyro Step? After semi-seriously discussing when the Bucks could next lose a game and what has gone into the longest winning streak in the NBA this season, Rohan and Ti dove deeper on some players who have made the nightly wins possible, including Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez, and Grayson Allen, after sharing thoughts on the first two games for newcomers Meyers Leonard and Jae Crowder. Today's word of the day is 'position' as in Steve Cohen is in position as in 3-5 year plan is here as in MLB and its Economic Reform Committee has been started. What does all of this mean? Do the other owners dislike Steve Cohen? Is the spending going to continue forever? (12:30) Let's move to the Bronx and talk about the New York Yankees. Is Gerrit Cole going to give up 33 homers again? Is Carlos Rodon going to be the secondary star they've needed? What about Aaron Judge and 9/$360M deal? Can the Yankees get it done? (18:40) Meyers Leonard is back in the NBA. Let's do a refresher on why he's been out of the league. Should we be okay with this 2nd chance? Is this the “right” way to do things? (28:30) Review: All That Breathes. (34:55) NPPOD. (35:55) What is going on with John Henry and Liverpool? The team was for sale. Now it isn't for sale. Can it be for sale? Is anyone selling anything? Meyers Leonard is back in the NBA. He has signed a 10 day contract with the Bucks. Leonard was railroaded out of the league for uttering an antisemitic slur while playing a video game on the internet nearly 24 months ago. My rant deals with the double standards and hypocrisy of the NBA. This past summer the Warriors Draymond Green used a racial slur towards ESPN analyst and former player Kendrick Perkins. On this episode we talked about Kevin Love signing with the Miami Heat over the Sixers and Russell Westbrook picking the Clippers over the Bulls, Wizards and Heat. Will these moves matter? In a good way or bad way? Also in the middle of this episode Meyers Leonard and Patrick Beverley were both signed so we reacted to that live on air. Next we discussed how awful everything was during All Star weekend except for Sixers legend Mac McClung saving the Dunk Contest. Lastly we drafted teams of the worst all stars ever selected for the All Star game in what we call the Mickey Mouse All Star Draft. Enjoy. Meyers Leonard, NBA veteran and University of Illinois star, speaks with Rabbi Erez Sherman, about his spiritual transformation after hurting the Jewish community with difficult words in March 2021. Meyers explains his process and how the Jewish community has helped him heal and bring more love into the world. Just a day after Leonard's exclusive interview on ESPN's Outside The Lines with Jeremy Schaap, Meyers visited Sinai Temple, spoke with the children of Sinai Akiba Academy and sat for a one on one interview with Rabbi Sherman.
Jason is joined by Amin Elhassan this week, and the guys discuss the upcoming historic Super Bowl 57 as Jalen Hurts' Philadelphia Eagles & Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs will square off. It marks the first time two black players at QB will face each other at the Super Bowl. The guys discuss Meyers Leonard's attempt at a comeback to the NBA. Leonard has not played since 2021 after using an antisemitic slur during a video game livestream. The guys are visited by Greg Taylor, Executive Director of the NBA Foundation. Greg announces the Foundation's extended partnership with the Children's Defense Fund. It is the largest single grant to date, totaling 3.6 million over three years. Through this partnership, the Children's Defense Fund will help identify candidates and support program management for the NBA HBCU Fellowship program. Additionally, Greg talks about the Foundation handing out 31 grants totaling 12 million dollars to 34 nonprofit organizations historically serving the black community.
Kevin O'Connor's article in The Ringer gives some insight on what is plaguing the Blazers' ability to make trades at the deadline. The people who continue to insist Damar Hamlin is dead earn today's Worst Day on the Web. Meyers Leonard looking to get back to the NBA.
It has been more than two years since Meyers Leonard last set foot on an NBA court. The former Miami Heat center had his most productive season ever in 2019-20, a season that ended with him playing for the NBA Championship in the bubble. But after a shoulder injury derailed his 2020-21 season, Leonard filled his time playing video games. And it was during one online game session in March of 2021 when Leonard would utter an antisemetic slur that would ignite a firestorm of controversy. Meyers was suspended by the Heat, before being traded to – and ultimately released by – the Oklahoma City Thunder. Jeremy Schaap sits down with Meyers Leonard, who finally opens up about his “huge, huge mistake” as well as the feelings of shame and regret he has felt since. It's an interview that explores questions of ignorance and forgiveness…and possibly, a path back to the NBA. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The Lakers were again shorthanded Thursday vs. Dallas (no Davis, Reaves or Beverley) and fell behind by 19 points in the first quarter. Not exactly a great way to start a stretch of critical home games. To their credit, the Lakers fought back, despite Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic doing superstar things. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook pushed hard to the basket, Wenyen Gabriel played arguably his best game as a Laker. Max Christie was a strong presence making only his second career start. Even Kendrick Nunn had a couple of big buckets. But the Lakers missed 31 three-pointers (including Lebron's 0-7), and were only 17-27 from the free throw line. It's hard to win with those numbers. And ultimately, when they couldn't steal the win in regulation, Doncic had more left in the tank then LeBron, and, if you want to include him, Westbrook, too. That's the downside of having your best players deep into their 30s, vs. one of the rising young players in the NBA. And, it should be noted, anytime LeBron plays 47 minutes and the Lakers don't win, it's a little extra painful. So the Lakers again missed a chance to grab a game that could have boosted them in the standings. It's not that they lost a game they obviously should have won - could have for sure, but should is probably a stretch - but a knock on impact of the 2-10 start is that losses like Thursday's are a little extra painful, and a little more costly. Now the Lakers face a tough Philly team Sunday at the Crypt.Meanwhile, the Lakers are working out some centers! DeMarcus Cousins (former Laker!) and oft-injured, then disgraced former Blazers and Heat center Meyers Leonard. Go read up on Leonard for a reminder of what got him in trouble. Is that the reason the Lakers ought to leave him alone? Is there any concern that the Lakers are bringing in so many centers when Davis is, in theory, working his way to a return?HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: The Lakers lose a frustrating game vs. Dallas.SEGMENT 2: The Lakers ultimately ran out of gas in the OT, while Luka had just enough left in the tank.SEGMENT 3: So... why so many centers coming to work out in El Segundo?Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. We live reacted to the news that the Lakers would be working out Meyers Leonard before we reviewed and broke down Bill and Zach's podcast about the Eastern Conference all stars. We talked about our beefs with their selections, methodology and why they hate on certain players (cough Harden). Also, should Embiid start over Giannis or Tatum? The statistical argument is heavily in his favor. We then made our 12 all star selections for the Eastern Conference and talked about a few guys who just missed the cut for us. Throughout this we also discussed some minor trade slop from the Pacers and a trade idea involving the Raptors and Lakers. Next week we will be doing the Western Conference after Zach & Bill release their podcast for the West later today. Enjoy. Kanye. Kyrie. And...Dave Chappelle? Maybe? This week, Rivky and Uri talk about this “resurgence” of antisemitism and ask, what the heck is even happening? And what was with Chappelle's monologue? Funny? Not funny? Cruel? Offensive? Funny and offensive? And...the three men involved here - Kanye, Kyrie, and Chappelle, are not only three famous entertainers, but three black entertainers. Does that mean anything? If so, what does it mean? Meyers Patrick Leonard (born February 27, 1992) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini before being selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 11th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. After spending his first seven seasons with the Trail Blazers, he was traded to the Heat in the 2019 offseason. He reached the NBA Finals with the Heat in 2020.On March 9, 2021, Leonard received criticism for using the anti-jewish slur "kike" during a Twitch stream while playing Call of Duty: Warzone. The Heat announced the same day that they were reviewing the matter and that Leonard would be "away from the team indefinitely." The eSports organization FaZe Clan cut ties with him later that day, although he remained an investor. He later apologized for using the slur, stating that he did not know what it meant.Aaron Jungreis, entering the real estate industry in 1993 has earned a solid reputation for identifying opportunities and closing deals. As the Nets snapped a four-game losing streak, a group of eight Nets fans including Aaron Jungreis sat courtside with shirts on that read “FIGHT ANTISEMITISM.” It was a reference to the blowback Irving had found himself facing after sharing on his Twitter and Instagram accounts an Amazon link to a film called “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America,” which contains numerous antisemitic tropes. Hour 1: We actually opened with local hockey talk but Gio quickly changed that to Jets & Giants talk. Both fan bases will probably be happy if they just make the playoffs. Even if they get bounced in the first round, that would be a successful season for both the Giants and the Jets. Boomer said the Aaron Judge contract offers are going to be ‘breathtaking'. Xavier McKinney said his ATV hand injury was a ‘freak accident'. Gio said if he had a bye week he'd be eating cuban sandwiches on a beach sipping cocktails. Boomer wants to know where we are with Christmas decorations. Jerry is here for his first update but first we talked about election coverage last night. The Knicks & Nets play tonight in Brooklyn. We heard from Brian Daboll on Xavier McKinney's injury. We also heard from Xavier himself. Parks Frazier will call the plays for the Colts this Sunday. Aaron Rodgers was on the McAfee show and talked about Mike McCarthy coming back to Lambeau this week. And then we heard from Mike McCarthy. Jerry Jones had thoughts on OBJ joining the Cowboys. Chris Russo had a coughing fit while trying to talk. Billy Eppler tells us about talking to deGrom's representatives. Brian Cashman talked about the current state of the Yankees. The Rangers lost to the Islanders last night. The Oilers' Evander Kane had his wrist sliced by a skate but is doing well. In the final segment of the hour, we talk about potential buyers for the Washington Commanders including Jay Z and Jeff Bezos. Hour 2: Kyrie and Adam Silver had a ‘productive' meeting yesterday. Kyrie had a chance at the beginning to apologize but he didn't do that. He kept making it worse with press conferences. Boomer compares this situation to the Imus situation. If Kyrie would have apologized properly the first time, none of this would have happened. And why are people comparing this to the Brett Favre situation? Favre is probably going to jail so it's not comparable. Even this has become a racial issue. Nobody ever says ‘what about Meyers Leonard?' Jerry returns for another update and starts with Brian Daboll commenting on Xavier McKinney's injury. Parks Frazier will call plays for the Colts this week. Dan Orlovsky wants to join the Colts staff. Boomer said Coach Cowher is going to be annoyed by this Colts situation on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and said Mike McCarthy will be welcomed by Packers fans. Jerry Jones talks about the potential of OBJ to the Cowboys. Which NFL owner would you want to hang out with in Vegas? Billy Eppler talked about deGrom being interested in staying in NY. Brian Cashman talked about the Aaron Judge contract situation. Gio said the Yankees are so boring right now. Very stale. Chris Russo has no idea how to use a computer mouse. Francesa also didn't know how to use a mouse early on. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer once was at a party with Jerry Jones and he thought he was Phil Simms. A caller says he partied with Jerry Jones in Spain this past Summer. His story was painfully long and had way too many pointless details. Hour 3: Al had a situation at his voting location where the whole place was almost compromised. A caller has an explanation for ‘I AM' from Kyrie Irving. Will Kyrie play for the Nets again? After yesterday's meeting with Adam Silver, maybe. We took a lot of calls on the Kyrie situation. Jerry returns for an update and starts with some audio from Daniel Jones about Xavier McKinney. He also said the Texans are a good team. So he's a liar. Mike McDaniel on Justin Fields scrambling. Mike McCarthy gets very emotional about returning to Green Bay. Will any of us cry when we finally leave WFAN? Brian Cashman was asked about Aaron Judge and offered a ‘no comment'. We heard from Chris King on the Islanders game winning goal. In the final segment of the hour, ratings for the NFL have been great for CBS. The Bucs running game has been so bad, Tom Brady is throwing the ball like 58 times a game. He makes decisions quickly and doesn't get hit. Could Brady wind up on his boyhood team, the 49'ers, before all is said and done? Hour 4: If the Giants beat the Texans they will get to 7 wins, which they haven't had in a number of years now. A caller gave us a long history lesson that was very confusing to us. Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio from Xavier McKinney on his ATV accident in Cabo. Aaron Rodgers talked about Mike McCarthy coming back to Lambeau. Jerry Jones talks about OBJ being on the Cowboys' radar. And the Islanders beat the Rangers. The Devils win again to make it seven straight. Let's guess the spread between the Seahawks and Bucs in Germany. The Colts are -6 point underdogs in Vegas to the Raiders. Did Shaun Morash poop his pants on air?

Yesterday the NBA fined Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves 40k for anti-gay comments. Last spring, the NBA suspended Meyers Leonard, then of the Heat for a week after he made an anti-Semitic slur. Meyers was quickly traded to the Thunder and then was cut. He is out of the league. This summer Draymond Green of the Warriors called former player and current ESPN host Kendrick Perkins a racial slur. What did the NBA do to Green? Nothing! What a joke! The NBA has become a league of double standards! Support for the show comes from MyBookie. MyBookie will match your first deposit (up to $1000) when you use code Grant22. This week, we spend some time with Meyers Leonard, an American professional basketball player of the NBA's Miami Heat, and Co-Founder of Level Foods with his wife, Elle. Meyers' outlook on life, hard work, and the relentless pursuit of excellence will motivate you. His never quit attitude has brought him through many personal and professional difficulties. Listen as Meyers shares his inspiring stories. In this episode you will hear: I'm just a normal, blue-collar dude, who's been thru the struggle, on and off the basketball floor. 2 things that help get me by - no matter what: My character and my work ethic. How can I help my team? Selflessness. There's no chance I'm giving up. I want shit to get tough, because that when the mental edge takes over. Patriotism runs deep in my family. I can support the military because of my connections to it, but I still understand that there are issues in America, and I can support my teammates and what they have felt in their lives. I could've quit – I gave it 7 years – Then I went from getting booed to crowds chanting my name. People think that because I'm 7 feet; I've got millions of dollars; I drive nice cars – everything is great, but I'm still a normal human being. Sometimes things are hard. You are gonna get your opportunity and you better be ready. I wanna be known as a man who did something for someone else.
