Valenti began a packed first hour with his thoughts on Malik Beasley no longer being federally investigated for gambling accusations. Then, the guys spent some time talking about the SEC's schedule change before David joined with some bold CFB takes.
Mike kicked off the final show of the week with a reaction to the news that Malik Beasley is no longer being federally investigated for gambling allegations. Then, the guys spent multiple segments discussing college football in different ways before they got into some Lions talk near the end of the show, asking whether their regression might be worse than we expect.
The guys started the show discussing the news that Malik Beasley's name has been cleared from a federal gambling investigation.
Munaf Manji and Mackenzie Rivers talk NBA offseason moves and much more. The NBA offseason has been anything but quiet, with retirements, betting controversies, and opening night matchups fueling headlines. John Wall officially retired after an injury-filled career that began with promise in Washington, while Derrick Rose will have his No. 1 jersey retired by the Chicago Bulls, honoring his MVP peak before injuries changed his trajectory. Off-court drama also made waves as Malik Beasley was cleared in a federal gambling investigation, reopening his free agency with interest from the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks. The case highlighted growing concerns over NBA betting integrity, with discussions about limiting unders on fringe players after scandals involving Jonte Porter. Opening night brings high drama. The Oklahoma City Thunder, fresh off their championship, host the Houston Rockets, who now feature Kevin Durant in a stunning return to OKC. Oddsmakers list the Thunder as 6.5-point favorites, backed by continuity, elite net rating, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's MVP form. Analysts expect Durant and Jalen Green to thrive in Houston but caution that defensive chemistry will take time after trading away Dillon Brooks. The second marquee game pits the Golden State Warriors against the Los Angeles Lakers. Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Jimmy Butler headline a Warriors roster built on stability, while the Lakers counter with Luka Doncic alongside LeBron James at age 41. Experts argue Golden State is undervalued, pointing to their cohesion and defensive strength compared to the Lakers' questionable fit and reliance on Luka's offense. Debate then shifted to overrated and underrated stars entering the 2025–26 season. Anthony Edwards, despite highlight dunks and hype, was criticized for inconsistency, limited playmaking, and average defense in key playoff series. Trae Young's efficiency, turnovers, and defensive liability made him another overrated pick, while LeBron James was called statistically brilliant yet less impactful on winning at this stage of his career. Ja Morant's injuries and lack of reliable shooting lowered his stock, and even fan-favorite Alex Caruso was labeled overrated due to inflated advanced metrics. On the underrated side, Joel Embiid was deemed far too low on rankings despite injury concerns, still a dominant force when healthy. Orlando's Franz Wagner was praised for versatility, scoring, and leadership alongside Paolo Banchero, positioning him as a rising top-15 talent. Jalen Williams of the Thunder was highlighted as a two-way star capable of being more than a Robin, while Bam Adebayo's defense and potential offensive leap could transform Miami. Even Steph Curry, though widely respected, was argued to remain underrated for the way he elevates teammates. The podcast closed with betting insights. The Los Angeles Clippers were recommended at -8 over the rebuilding Utah Jazz, given depth, continuity, and elite defense led by Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. Another best bet circled the Toronto Raptors +6 against the Atlanta Hawks, citing Brandon Ingram's addition, improved depth, and Atlanta's poor record as home favorites. As the 2025–26 season approaches, the NBA's mix of star power, betting intrigue, and opening-night storylines ensures drama on and off the court. From Durant's OKC return to debates over Edwards, Young, and Embiid, fans and bettors alike have plenty to watch. The association never sleeps, and this season promises to be another defining chapter. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We kick off this Friday with some car talk, Tobin and Leroy are flabbergasted to find out that Brittney has no idea how to put air in her tires. We look ahead to the Dolphins preseason game tomorrow against the Jaguars. Skylar Thompson does it once again with another outstanding preseason performance, will the Steelers keep him? The gang reacts to some Ollie Gordan sound coming out of practice yesterday! Reports come out that Malik Beasley seems to be cleared from his prop betting allegations, and Tobin is begging to know when Terry Rozier will be?
We kick off this Friday with some car talk as Tobin and Leroy are flabbergasted to learn Brittney has no idea how to put air in her tires. The crew looks ahead to the Dolphins' preseason matchup against the Jaguars, and Skylar Thompson once again delivers in preseason — could the Steelers keep him? We hear from Ollie Gordon at practice, and with Malik Beasley cleared of his prop betting allegations, Tobin is begging to know when Terry Rozier will get the same treatment. In Hour Tua, the man himself shares how Tyreek Hill's absence in practice has helped him build chemistry with other receivers — sparking a heated debate between Tobin and Leroy on how this could impact Tyreek's season. Meanwhile, Jaxon Dart was spotted feeding Jameis Winston a classic "W" on the sideline, which sends the gang spiraling into QB room dynamics: where does Russell Wilson even fit in with the Giants' crew? And who's getting cut once camp ends? We try to tickle Leroy's fancy as we do every Friday — but the moment's hijacked when Tobin completely whiffs on a perfect layup joke from Leroy. Tobin hits full JOVIC MODE after the Heat forward's dominant performance overseas, outshining Luka Dončić and leaving Tobin desperate for Leroy and Brittney to give the man his flowers. We also hear from Aaron Brewer who calls out the Bears' “fake physicality” at joint practice, and then it's over to Jerry Jones as contract talks with Micah Parsons continue to stir the pot. In the final hour, Shedeur Sanders clears the air on the so-called “beef” with Dillon Gabriel, and the crew goes off on the Cracker Barrel rebrand — seriously, who asked for that?! We wrap with one last Dolphins training camp update before game day, then bring the fire with our favorite Friday closer: You're Dead to Me. Tobin takes aim at Heat fans who keep disrespecting Jovic, Leroy has strong words for college football, and Brittney must get in her weekly F1 rant.

0:00 .... Ross hello, welcome, and introduces the crew of Bruce Bernstein and Michael "World B" Freer." Show number 170 is dedicated to Devin Booker, who scored a career high 70 points in a loss to the Celtics back in March of 2017. 1:07 ... The NBA released the full schedule for the upcoming season and each member of the show picked three games they have "circled" on the schedule. Bruce leads us off with an opening night matchup between the Thunder and Rockets and the return of the NBA on NBC on October 21st. 2:25 ... World B chooses Warriors/Lakers on opening night, also on NBC. 3:36 ... Ross chooses Bucks/Pacers and Myles Turner's return to Indiana as a member of the Bucks. 4:20 ... Bruce is intrigued by the first meeting between the Magic and Knicks on November 12th. 5:09 ... World B looks forward to Spurs/Mavericks on October 22nd in a matchup with Cooper Flagg and Victor Wembanyama. 6:28 ... Ross looks forward to Kevin Durant's return to Phoenix on November 24th. 7:37 ... Bruce is excited about the first matchup between the Pacers and Celtics on December 22nd. 8:39 ... World B looks forward to the Christmas Day matchup with the Cavaliers and Knicks at the Garden. These are the likely top two teams in the east. 10:08 ... March 21st marks the Bucks visit to Phoenix as Ross looks forward to his yearly reunion with Giannis Antetokounmpo on his once a year visit to Ross' hometown. 11:09 ... The NBA and the Players Association are backing additional limitations on prop bets in the wake of gambling investigations involving Malik Beasley and Terry Rozier. The crew examines all the angles of basketball wagering and wonders if it's possible to put the genie back in the bottle now that sports gambling has become so mainstream. Everyone agrees that the integrity of the game can be adversely affected by gambling and the league needs to act responsibly to protect the image of the league. 21:11 ... Each panelist discusses one significant move that was made by their favorite team in the off-season. Bruce picks the Celtics signing of Chris Boucher, the 8 year veteran who comes to Boston from Toronto. 22:33 ... World B feels the Knicks hiring of new head coach Mike Brown was a major move for the franchise. He compares the hiring to the Yankees hiring of Joe Torre back in 1996. 25:00 ... Ross loves the Cole Anthony signing for his Milwaukee Bucks and adds that the acquisition of Amir Coffey will also be a major boost for the Bucks. 26:52 ... The Lakers will honor former coach Pat Riley with a statue on February 22nd. The crew wonders why the Heat didn't honor him first, but all were thankful that the sculptor who did the Dwyane Wade statue in Miami isn't doing this one. 30:09 ... Bruce recounts some of the stories Lakers legend Michael Cooper told about Riles two weeks ago when he appeared on 48 Minutes. One of the best concerned how Riley buried secret words in each player's video splits that the coach later quizzed them on. 32:33 ... Final Thoughts .... Bruce is saddened by the fact that it seems certain that Al Horford will never play another game for the Celtics. If Big Al goes to Golden State, it's highly unlikely the Celtics will retire his #42. 34:58 ... World B talked about Major League Baseball's consideration of a realignment plan to keep the fans interested in the sport. Adam Silver has also tried some things in the NBA with the in-season tournament an play in games. World B praises Silver for his efforts. 38:00 ... Ross' final thought was to discuss some trades the Suns chose not to make when they dealt Kevin Durant. Miami made an offer that the Suns turned down and everyone shared their thoughts on why Phoenix made a better deal with Houston. Phoenix also could have made a deal where they acquired an unprotected #1 pick from New Orleans next season in the Durant deal and everyone feels like the Suns will regret not doing it. 43:06 ... Bruce shouts out to Shawn Bradley, who was paralyzed in a bike accident but appeared in public at a Big 3 game over the weekend in Dallas. It was one of the only times he's apeared in public since his bike crash in 2021. TRT 44:25

The duo also discusses the latest free agency buzz, including whether Malik Beasley could still find his way back to Detroit, and which notable free agent signing the Pistons missed out on — and what that says about the front office's direction. Tap in for insight, analysis, and a candid look at where Detroit stands as the offseason winds down.
With Leroy and JFig still hobknobbing Tobin gets into the Marlins and their upcoming series with the Braves, Brittney raises the question on if we may have all gotten too excited after the Yankees sweep… Tobin doesn't seem to think so. Then Leroy finally decides to show up after rubbing elbows with everyone, and we hear from Teddy Bridgewater who just signed with the Tampa Bay Bucks after being relieved of his duties at Miami Northwestern, we all agree it's a shame. Then we close out the show with our favorite Thursday game of Goosies or No Goosies, Nancy Lieberman dunks on Jeff Teagues over his Caitlin Clark comments, Malik Beasley's snapchat story, and The Tkachuck father and son trio are on the cover of the NHL game.
We kick off the show with the long-standing feud: Leroy vs. Technology, now at a crushing 0-90 after Leroy once again can't log into his computer. The Marlins rally to take the game last night over the Astros and head to Atlanta for a big five-game stretch. Meanwhile, the Stanley Cup makes a stop in Finland with our resident South Florida Polar Bear, Niko Mikola, and Tobin imagines a hilarious scenario where Finnish hockey players are running the government. We also take a quick peek at tonight's NFL preseason action. In Hour Tua, we look ahead to the Dolphins' joint practices with the Bears. Much to Leroy's frustration, Tobin dives into the depth chart, noting Darren Waller listed as the starting tight end and raising concerns about Cam Smith's low placement among the cornerbacks. Then, Reggie Bush's mysterious beef with Mike McDaniel sparks discussion, before we wrap the hour with more of Leroy's Aaron Rodgers slander and Joe Flacco embracing being “old but healthy.” Things get heated in Hour 3 as a toast debate breaks out—Leroy and Brittney team up to argue it's not strictly a breakfast food, while Tobin stands alone with the chat chiming in. Dolphins rookie Patrick Paul shines in camp and lets us know he loves talking smack. With Leroy and JFig off enjoying the high life, Tobin and Brittney hold down the fort and break down Canes camp updates, what to expect from Miami this year, and whether Carson Beck can live up to the hype. Tobin also gets giddy over Nico Jović sailing off to join the Serbian national team. We wrap the show with more Marlins talk and whether the post-Yankees sweep hype was premature—Brittney questions it, but Tobin stays optimistic. Leroy finally returns from rubbing elbows, and we react to Teddy Bridgewater signing with the Bucs after being let go by Miami Northwestern—a tough break all around. And finally, it's Goosies or No Goosies featuring Nancy Lieberman dunking on Jeff Teague over Caitlin Clark, Malik Beasley's Snapchat antics, and the Tkachuk father-son trio landing the NHL video game cover.
We begin the segment with producer ReAnna's affiliation with the Kentucky Basketball team and then get into the Pistons preseason schedule and a hypothetical involving Malik Beasley. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week on Bet the Process, Jeff brings on Tom Haberstroh to discuss aspects of the Malik Beasley investigation into alleged involvement in gambling on NBA games.
How did a seemingly random super-fan on NBA Twitter know about a federal gambling investigation... before the NBA did? And how does he connect to Carmelo Anthony, Nicolas Cage, Larsa Pippen, Jontay Porter, a legless woman, Malik Beasley, "Madea's Family Reunion," meme coins, and perhaps the greatest play in modern Knicks history? Correspondents Tom Haberstroh and Amin Elhassan join Pablo to run the numbers, grind the tape, and uncover a secret world of penthouse poker games and deleted accounts. • Subscribe to The Finder with Tom Haberstroh for more on this story http://tomthefinder.com/p/who-the-f-is-moose • Subscribe to Cinephobe with Amin Elhassan https://www.youtube.com/@CinephobePod • Subscribe to Basketball Illuminati https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLImO7ahoFX0g7GMLy5r7zGezv-0ixnDkU Learn more about your ad choices.
