In this special episode of the Z3 Podcast, host Rabbi Amitai Fraiman is joined by two guests involved with Jewish life at UC Berkeley: Rav Maya Zinkow, Campus Rabbi, and Dr. Masua Sagiv, Koret Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish and Israel Studies and Senior Faculty member at the Shalom Hartman Institute. In this roundtable discussion, all three reflect on their recent visits and experiences in Israel and explore the emotional and political divide between the realities on the ground in Israel and the discourse in the U.S., particularly on college campuses. The conversation dives into the challenges Jewish students face navigating campus life, where progressive movements often clash with Zionism during a time where social media amplifies misinformation and extremist narratives, complicating conversations about Israel, and leaving students caught between popular opinion and their Jewish identity. Rav Maya and Dr. Sagiv discuss the delicate balance of providing pastoral care to students while also encouraging critical thinking on complex issues like Israel, Zionism, and Jewish identity. This episode offers a thoughtful discussion on the intersection of Jewish education, campus activism, and the future of Jewish identity in both Israel and the diaspora. Summary In this conversation, Jermaine Todd, a former professional bodybuilder, discusses his journey in the fitness industry and the evolution of his identity. He shares how he got started in bodybuilding, the challenges he faced, and the lessons he learned along the way. JT emphasizes the importance of passion and ambition in achieving success and finding fulfillment. He also reflects on the shift in his identity from solely focusing on his physical appearance to recognizing his spiritual and mental growth. The conversation highlights the significance of self-reflection and personal development in becoming the best version of oneself. He talks about the importance of self-reflection, doing the inner work, and taking responsibility for one's actions. Jt goes even deeper as he emphasizes the need to be present in relationships and interactions with others, as well as the power of mentorship and guiding young men. Stick around until the end to hear JTs goals and ventures in coaching, real estate, and his clothing brand. The conversation concludes with a reminder to be kind and considerate to others, as you never know the impact you can have on someone's life. Takeaways Passion and ambition are key drivers of success and fulfillment. Self-reflection and personal growth are essential for evolving and maturing as an individual. Identity should not be solely linked to physical appearance but should encompass spiritual and mental growth. Chasing one's passion rather than the pursuit of money or fame leads to greater satisfaction and success. The journey to self-discovery and self-improvement requires looking within, identifying areas for growth, and making necessary adjustments. Self-reflection and doing the inner work are essential for personal growth and improvement. Taking responsibility for one's actions is crucial for positive change. Being present in relationships and interactions can have a profound impact on others. Mentorship and guidance are valuable for young men seeking guidance. Setting goals and pursuing ventures in various areas can lead to personal and financial success. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Urban Indian Heritage Society Challenges Misclassification of American and West Indian Families' Heritage

The NeoLiberal Round

The Urban Indian Heritage Society is shaking up the understanding of American families' heritage with groundbreaking research. In their upcoming presentation at The Jamaica Theological Seminary's Caribbean Thought class, the UIHS will challenge conventional beliefs about Jamaica's identity and heritage, particularly concerning the Taino people, who were the island's original inhabitants. Contrary to popular belief, the UIHS argues that Jamaicans may have a rich history linked to the native Indians of the land. While acknowledging the presence of East Indians and Chinese who arrived during the era of indentured labor, the UIHS stresses the importance of reexamining Jamaica's history beyond the predominant African heritage resulting from the slave trade. Dr. Nolan Fontaine, and author Phoenix Moon, founders of the UIHS, will lead the presentation and share their research findings. They contend that genealogical research uncovers an urban American Indian root in Jamaica, challenging the established narrative of the island's history. In addition to their research, the UIHS has organized a petition titled "Remedy for the Misclassified People of North America!" This petition calls for the enactment of the American Indian Inclusion Act to address the mistreatment and erasure of the Misclassified American Indian by the United States Government. The petition outlines a comprehensive set of demands, including the reclassification of ethnic birthrights, the return of occupied American Indian lands, restitution, punitive damages, and institutional reform. Key demands in the petition include establishing a genealogical committee to examine bloodline lineage, creating an oversight committee for tribal membership appeals, and recognizing the American Indian Political Party. The petition also seeks the removal of taxation on American Indian lands, the repeal of HR 4238, special reform bills for social services and education, and the implementation of American Indian studies throughout educational institutions. To garner attention for their cause, the UIHS will present the petition and a detailed manifesto of grievances to the United States Congress. They are calling for public hearings and the formation of oversight committees to review and implement the American Indian Inclusion Act, with the aim of rectifying historical injustices faced by the misclassified American Indian. The UIHS's special presentation at The Jamaica Theological Seminary's Caribbean Thought class is scheduled for Monday, June 12th, 2023, from 6 pm to 9 pm. The presentation can be accessed via the following link: Zoom Link. Join Dr. Nolan Fontaine, Phoenix Moon, and the Urban Indian Heritage Society as they challenge the misclassification of American families' heritage and illuminate Jamaica's rich history. Plus a new "bag cam" made an appearance, and all the JTs got into an argument about whose the real JT (1:44). LIV Golf played in Tuscon this week, and they finished off the week with a 4 man playoff that, in typical LIV fashion, nobody watched (8:02). The TOUR heads to Austin for what could be the final WGC Dell Match Play, and Alex shares his thoughts on 7 magical years in Austin. Plus a look at the stacked event field and who may emerge from their 4-man brackets (10:53). Opposite the Match Play will be the Corales Putacana Championship, where the grinders on TOUR play for a life-changing weekend (17:38). The Golf Heritage Society's Vice-President, Bill Robertson, chats with Alex about some of the game's greatest from the past, and how they mirror the game's current stars (39:05). March Madness did not disappoint in the opening weekend of the men's basketball tournament, and Michael's off-the-cuff guess of Princeton getting a W has turned into a full Cinderella story (53:47).
