The Lakers Have Won Five of Six, Face (and Scout?) Myles Turner, Buddy Hield Monday Night

The Lakers were once 2-10. Today, after winning five of six, they'll enter Monday's game against Indiana (one of only six home games between now and early January) with a 7-11 record. Still not good, but trending in the right direction. And most of that progress has happened without a full roster available to them. So now that Anthony Davis and LeBron James are both expected to play against the Pacers, can the Lakers continue their momentum? How much of that upturn was legitimate, anyway, and not a product of a (finally) softening schedule? We'll all find out soon enough, but at the least, the Lakers were due to some positive move to the mean. They weren't, for example, going to shoot 20 percent from 3-point range all year. Over their last 10? About 35 percent. Not great, but not catastrophically damaging to the offense, either. The Lakers were always better than a team paced to win 12 games all year. Good enough to finish over .500? Top eight? Top 10? We'll see. But not 12-wins bad. Hopefully the momentum LeBron found in the second half Sunday carries through, because apparently someone on San Antonio poked the bear, and the bear won. The Lakers controlled the stretch run of Saturday's win, in large part because of the dominance - extremely efficient dominance - of James. The Lakers need that, with an elite Davis, to carry them going forward. And not for nothing, this Indiana game carries some real intrigue. If Buddy Hield and Myles Turner, both a target of many Lakers fans affections, if not the Lakers front office, go off and the Pacers win? Wow, are people going to come down on GM Rob Pelinka. Either way, it's going to be very interesting! HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: The Lakers have won five of six. What has changed relative to earlier this year? SEGMENT 2: LeBron bounced back in a big way in the second half of Saturday's win, and also may have provided another galvanizing team moment, as well. SEGMENT 3: The schedule gets really hard again, starting... now. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. The Lakers still don't know if LeBron James will play Friday night against Detroit. He was a participant in Wednesday's practice, but only in the non-contact portions. Is it a sign he's not healing? Of extra caution? Hard to say. But one thing is clear - both games this weekend (Friday against the Pistons, Sunday vs. San Antonio, both at home) are super important not just from a wins-and-losses standpoint (can't keep making the hole deeper) but also vibes. Detroit and San Antonio are bad teams. With or without LeBron, if the Lakers want to believe they have a chance to compete this year, these games have to be won. The mental damage that comes with losing over the weekend might be as significant as the hit in the standings. Maybe more. Along those lines, these games are important in the whole, "Will they or won't they, should they or shouldn't they?" questions around trades. It's fair to say that Lakers fans are still thinking hard about Myles Turner, who continues to tantalize by playing extremely well for the Pacers. So much so that when Rob Pelinka and Jesse Buss were spotted boarding a plane to Indiana, even when everyone knew it wasn't to scout Turner and Buddy Hield, or sit face to face with Pacers boss Kevin Pritchard... people still kinda hoped maybe it was? A big week for wishcasting. Rob-on-a-plane is a wonderful, fun new entry in the great lineage of "Kevin Garnett bought a house in Malibu!" tea leaf reading. But what about the rumors that the Clippers might be getting involved? If Turner ends up in Los Angeles, but not playing for the purple and gold? Watch out, because it's probably torch-and-pitchforks time. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: LeBron practices, but without taking contact. Does that mean he's getting close to playing? SEGMENT 2: Rob Pelinka gets on a plane to Indiana, and hilarity ensues on the internet. SEGMENT 3: So is the market for Turner heating up? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Why are the Lakers Waiting to Make a Trade? Should There Be More Urgency?

Locked On Lakers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Lakers

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 15, 2022 31:42

With their team sitting at 3-10, Lakers fans have already done their evaluations, and have decided this team needs a great deal of help, and fast. So when more reports emerge the Lakers are in wait-and-see mode—this time from Marc Stein, who notes they want to see what it looks like when Dennis Schroder and Thomas Bryant return to the lineup, likely on Friday vs. Detroit—it understandably gets them upset. So two questions: First, what exactly will the return of Bryant and Schroder do for Darvin Ham and the rest of the roster? How big an impact can they make? Because we're not talking about All-Stars, here, no disrespect intended. Second question: What exactly is motivating Rob Pelinka and crew to wait? Is it because they believe these guys, with a health Anthony Davis and a returning LeBron James, are enough to help the Lakers climb out of their hole and back into playoff contention, even if they don't make a move? Or is it to see if those guys, in combination with whatever they could get in a trade, would be enough? Both require some tough questions be asked. Because with 69 games remaining, the Lakers do in fact have time to get themselves back into postseason contention. Maybe not into the top eight in the West (not without a major change in the quality of their play), but certainly into the top 10. That's not great, but it puts you in the show. From there, you have a puncher's chance, at least, right? On the other hand, 69 games is a lot of time for LeBron and Davis to stay healthy, because even if you have Buddy Hield and Myles Turner in the fold (ignoring for a moment the health history Turner brings) it doesn't really matter what trade the Lakers make if either star is out for an extended period of time. Not when you're 3-10. So what would you do? Wait for the summer, and risk punting this season, or pull the trigger on a trade that might not get the Lakers where they want to be (not even talking championship, just playoffs) but undercut the chances of serious improvement long term? Do you believe this braintrust is even capable of parlaying next summer's assets into something good? HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1 : The Lakers are waiting and seeing... again. SEGMENT 2: What is the calculus Rob Pelinka is performing, here? SEGMENT 3: You're the GM. Would you push in the chips now, or wait? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Stephen Holder of ESPN joins the program to kick off the second hour. Holder says that it was known Hines was unhappy in the locker room. He may not have asked for the trade but was likely fine with being moved. He doesn't know the exact parameters surrounding the trade, and what may transform the 6th round pick into a 5th round pick. Do Chris Ballard's actions yesterday speak to Chris Ballard's job security? Marc asks if the Marcus Brady firing is a scapegoat move by someone in the office. Holder details how Reich and Siriani worked well together because they had different personalities that formed a "yin-yang" situation. Holder speculates on how the Colts will fair against the New England Patriots this Sunday. Alex Golden host of the "Setting the Pace" podcast starts the final hour talking about Myles Turner's comments on the WOJ podcast a few days ago. Golden believes the comment was fine so long as it was a hypothetical question but also wishes Turner did a better job backing that statement up against the Brooklyn Nets the following day. He also believes that head-coach Rick Carlisle has put Buddy Hield in a great position to succeed either with the team or potentially as a trade. Kevin asks if there should be urgency to get Bennedict Mathurin into the starting lineup. Golden says the Pacers are in a position to "feed-the-hot-hand" with players like Mathurin, Hield, Duarte, and Haliburton. Kevin wonders who is a key player and who is expendable or just a roll player. Golden believe Haliburton and Mathurin are the only two players who are untouchable.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Kevin & Query - Friday 11/02 - Colts traded Nyheim Hines right at the deadline, was the deal worth it? Colts also fire their Offensive Coordinator

(00:00 - 26:59) - The curse of Jake continues as Marc left his wallet at home. The trade deadline saw Nyheim Hines traded to the Buffalo Bills for Zack Moss and a 6th round draft pick. Along with that trade the Colts fired their offensive coordinator Marcus Brady. Were Buffalo really the best team to trade with for the Colts or were better offers out there? It has been reported that Hines made a trade request, but nothing is confirmed yet. Marc and Kevin then run down the other trades that took place up against the NFL deadline last night. Steve Nash was fired by the Brooklyn Nets after they BEAT the Pacers. Frank Reich and Marcus Brady had very similar personalities, perhaps Brady's firing was to give the Colts coaching staff a more diverse approach.  (27:00 - 31:56) - Morning Checkdown   (31:57 - 44:24) - Back in May Frank Reich said that Nyheim Hines would be an important draft for people's fantasy football teams. Apparently, he meant that for Buffalo fans instead. Callers start to weigh in on the Hines trade and Brady firing.   (44:25 - 1:10:35) - Stephen Holder of ESPN joins the program to kick off the second hour. (1:10:36 - 1:26:12) - Marc and Kevin are joined by Brian Neubert the Purdue Boilermaker writer for on3sports. He gives a preview of Purdue's upcoming matchup against Iowa this weekend. Neubert stresses that this team needs to be more Purdue like in order for them to be successful and potentially win the Big Ten Eastern Conference. They are taking a risk on two freshman guards this Saturday. Kevin transitions Neubert over to Purdue's basketball team and how they manage to have one Mr. Basketball and one Mr. Basketball runner up. Will Purdue trust Brayden Smith with the ball right away?  (1:26:13 - 1:31:08) - Talk returns to the NFL trade deadline ending last night and the moves that were made. Kevin thinks that the deadline was exciting much like the MLB and NBA's deadlines. He then runs down the list of free agents the Colts will have next year. Marc and Kevin go back and forth on who is a "must" re-sign player for next season.  (1:31:09 - 1:56:08) - Alex Golden host of the "Setting the Pace" podcast starts the final hour talking about Myles Turner's comments on the WOJ podcast a few days ago. Golden believe Haliburton and Mathurin are the only two players who are untouchable.  (1:56:09 - 2:05:03) - Pop Quiz (2:05:04 - 2:16:23) - Closing talk about the Nyheim Hines trade and how he is the ultimate winner from the trade. Look at the Bills upcoming schedule to see where they can utilize Hines moving forward. The Colts ultimately failed themselves in trade talks with a team that the rest of the NFL doesn't see as being worth pursuing. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Can a Trade Fix the Lakers? Can They Afford Not to Try? Guest: Howard Beck, Sports Illustrated

Locked On Lakers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Lakers

Sports Illustrated has a great new book out on the Lakers, which compiles decades worth of great writing about the team by its iconic hoops writers into one volume. And the forward? Written by the great Howard Beck (who also contributes a story about Kobe Bryant's influence on the Lakers even after his death). The man knows the organization, having covered the Shaq/Kobe teams for the LA Daily News, and its management structure. He gets the culture, and the ethos. And he thinks they have real problems now - no shooting, no depth, and no reason to feel confident that Russell Westbrook will really settle into a pattern of great play - and in the future. What should the Lakers be doing right now? For one, it could start with recalibrating the purpose of a trade, whether for Indiana's Buddy Hield and Myles Turner, or someone else. If clear-cut contention is the bar the Lakers would have to clear, Beck believes there won't be a trade available to get there. Relevance, however, is attainable, and in the LeBron James era, that's the baseline obligation. Is that good enough for a team that only claims to value titles? How did they get here, anyway? Why have the Lakers spent so much time scuffling over the last decade, with one obviously exceptional moment of success? What limits the franchise, structurally? How does it's perception of self impact the way it operates? Meanwhile, what's it like to see so many Lakers-centric projects, from the SI book to multiple documentaries and fictionalized series, celebrating the team's success at a time when the actual on-court product hasn't been very good? How confident is Beck that the Lakers can turn this around? HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Sunday's win notwithstanding, the Lakers have some real issues with their roster. Is LeBron James one of them? His early metrics are down. SEGMENT 2: What's the right way to measure a successful trade for the Lakers? Does it need to be title contention? SEGMENT 3: Why have the Lakers found themselves in this predicament? How confident should people be in their ability to fix it? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Myles Turner Says the Lakers Should Seriously Consider Trading for Myles Turner

In a podcast with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that dropped on Monday, Indiana center Myles Turner said the Lakers ought to give serious consideration to making a deal to acquire Indiana center Myles Turner. This in response to a very direct question from Woj, who to his credit did not beat around the bush! This was the first question! Turner pointed out that he has a lot to offer as a player, on both sides of the ball. He can score at all three levels, defend at an elite level, and -- this is important for any player who wants to play with the Lakers -- sees himself as a center. Not a power forward/center hybrid, but a center. Which, as it turns out, happens to the position foundational player Anthony Davis doesn't want to play. Turner notes what the Lakers need, that they could use the shooting Buddy Hield provides, and so on. None of this is done with a tone or attitude slagging his current employers, but it also is made clear Turner believes this is a business, and that the Pacers do in fact risk losing him for nothing if they don't make a deal. And, to be fair, Indiana has been shopping the guy for like three seasons, and has made it pretty clear they're not exactly committed to re-signing him. This all runs both ways. So does any of this make it more likely the Lakers trade for Turner and Hield? Should it? How do the first six games of the season influence that? How do the prospects of signing a big time free agent in the summer impact that (Kyrie Irving? That still sounds appealing?) And how does the health of Anthony Davis shade decision-making. The Lakers clearly need to add help around him, because the physical burden is already very large, and his back is already balky. It's hard to believe things will get better physically over the course of the season without some kind of relief, whether in supporting cast or days off. But if they make the deal, are the Lakers locking themselves into 6-seed purgatory? HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Myles Turner lobbies for the Turner/Hield deal. SEGMENT 2: Turner says what Lakers fans are thinking... but does it change the calculus of what LA has to consider? SEGMENT 3: How banged up is Davis? How does his health influence questions around trades? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. (00:00 - 18:36) - Today's program begins with Kevin and Marc Dykton announcing that Jake has landed safely in Barcelona,Spain. Thursday Night Football tonight between the Baltimore Ravens and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Will Tom Brady fall two games under .500 for the first time in his career. Washington Commanders fans are cheering on Jim Irsay. The Colts game this Sunday has a lot of stories leading in to it, some on and some off the field. The Pacers looked pretty sad against the Chicago Bulls last night. Defense was sorely lacking, allowing 76 points in the first half. Should the Pacers really be pressuring the Los Angeles Lakers with Buddy Hield's performance lately? Is Sean Payton interested in coaching and could he be a future Indianapolis Colts head-coach?   (18:37 - 23:53) - Morning Checkdown (23:54 - 35:17) - NFL Trade Deadline is coming up, what teams will be making moves? Any Colts players who are key trade  targets for other teams? Kevin inquired with Frank Reich the other day about if any players have approached him asking for a trade? Marc and Kevin agree that pretty much no Colts player is off the table right now.  (35:18 - 1:04:23) - Caller start to weigh in on the Colts trade deadline talks. Questions include if Colts should start start shopping around for any available linemen to try and finish the season strong. Is Paris Campbell showing enough now that it takes him off the trade block? The Colts shouldn't blow up the entire roster but really need to consider who will still be wearing their jersey 3-5 years from now. A little talk about Irsay and Snyder's new rivalry this season. (1:04:24 - 1:19:47) - Scott Agnes joins the show to talk about the Pacers defensive troubles last night against the Bulls. Kevin wants to know if the defensive struggles started at the end of the McMillan era and never recovered. Agnes says the Turner is a great defender but not a savior and can't turn this teams defense around. Agnes dives into how Mathurin's intensity in practice translates to the court and maybe the losing record this year competes with how he approaches the game. Mathurin continue to play the game even when most people would already consider it to be over. Kevin and Agnes talk about Jalen Smith looking impressive so far this season. Scott has a small handful of details on the Pacers city edition jerseys. He claims that this jersey is somehow better than what Nike thought up.  (1:19:48 - 1:46:03) - Ben Standig, Washington Commanders reporter for The Athletic calls in to the program and goes back and forth with Kevin and Marc on the upcoming game between the Commanders and Colts. First off they discuss if Carson Wentz will return as the Commanders quarterback after his time on the injured list is up. Standig says it is likely, due to the size of the investment Washington has in Wentz, but it isn't a lock due to the where the team will be in the season. Does Washington have any buyers remorse with Carson Wentz? He jokes that Irsay could run for mayor of Washington D.C.right now and win after his comments about Snyder. Marc wants to know if Snyder is as big of a jerk as people make him out to be. Standig says that given all the stories you hear, one would assume, but unlike Irsay people are rarely in the same room as him. Will the Commanders be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline?  (1:46:04 - 1:52:11) - Pop Quiz (1:52:12 - 2:07:15) - Zak Keefer closes out the show with Kevin and Marc. Kevin and Keefer begin talking about how Frank Reich is answering questions right now that are better suited for Chris Ballard or Jim Irsay. Keefer says it seems like Reich might be giving/defending his resume at the podium right now. He defends that Ehlinger is a quarterback that can still bring the Colts to the playoffs. Ehlinger's skillset and ability to extend plays may give the Colts an answer to their O-line struggles. Ehlinger will also provide some questions for defenses who won't be able to predict his patterns as a quarterback as easily. Irsay's voice is present in the Colts locker room all season, it affected the quarterback situation in the off-season, will it effect the coaching situation this season? If Ehlinger does well, Reich may survive as head coach for another year.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On the one hand, the Lakers lost Thursday's home opener to the Clippers, 103-97, dropping to 0-2 on the season. On the other, they played a much, much stronger game than the one put forth on Tuesday against Golden State. Then again, the Lakers still didn't get nearly enough help for Anthony Davis and LeBron James from the supporting cast. Russell Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn and Patrick Beverley, for example, were a combined 1-25 from the floor, more than enough to offset an encouraging game from Lonnie Walker IV (26 points). So do you feel better or worse heading into the weekend? Darvin Ham said they're trending in the right direction, which is true, but the shortcomings are real and solutions might be slow to develop. Given the early season schedule, if there's anything the Lakers can do to ramp up the learning curve, they'll need to. Meanwhile, reports note that Rob Pelinka is unlikely to do anything in the very near term to change up the team, but will give it 20 games or so to evaluate things. But while many fans see this as a weird bit of misguided faith in Westbrook, or at the least, Ham's ability to make Westbrook happen, it's more likely a hope that something better than the Indiana deal featuring Myles Turner and Buddy Hield comes along. Will it? Who knows? Just as importantly, even if it does, will the Lakers be close enough to the playoffs for it to matter? HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: The Lakers lose to the Clippers Thursday night. Some improvements, but a lot of the same, too. Titans are coming off a bye, and have been dominant in that situation under Mike Vrabel, outscoring opponents 132-50 with a 4-0 record. Indiana Pacers ready to learn and grow in the season of change. Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Indiana Pacers expect to open the season with Myles Turner as their starting center. Which means, definitionally, that he will not be acquired before then by the Lakers with Buddy Hield in exchange for Russell Westbrook and two first round picks. Nor is it expected that the Lakers will trade for anyone on the Utah Jazz as they look to rebuild after trading Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell. So what are they going to do? Does Rob Pelinka just plan on punting the season? Does passing up an opportunity now mean the Lakers won't have a better one later? Are any of the options available to them today better than what might be behind doors as the season proceeds? Could Turner and Hield be an option closer to the deadline? Are any of these trade options better than simply waiting, holding the picks and combining that with some cap space in the summertime? One good bit of shorthand about the talent level available to the Lakers in trades came from ESPN's annual player ranking project. It illustrates the quality of player the Lakers would be giving away and what might be coming back in return. Is it enough talent to fire the only shot the Lakers really have? If not, is it better to wait? Does Rob Pelinka deserve credit for not doing the hyper-aggressive thing in a season where he might be general managing for his job? But all of this pales in comparison to the intense debate around LeBron James's hair. Did he shave it? Considerable time was devoted to Wednesday's show, praising James for his sound follicular choice. Turns out, though, it might have been a filter. BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE. The man has lost the battle. What he looks like on Monday's Media Day will be of intensive interest. Here's hoping he does the right thing. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: What did LeBron do with his hair? HAIRGATE! How Much Would the Lakers Improve if They Trade for Myles Turner, Buddy Hield? Guest, Tony East

The Lakers have been trying hard to improve their roster, and no trade seems as available as one with Indiana, where the Lakers would send out Russell Westbrook and a couple first rounders for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner. Without question, Hield's perimeter shooting and supplementary scoring would come in handy for a team that lacks a lot of the former, especially. But the more intriguing player, the one the Lakers would be sacrificing that second pick to get, is Turner. Only 26, he's a rangy shot-blocker with a good offensive game and a reasonable outside shot. He would fit on both ends next to Anthony Davis. He's young enough to sign to an extension that makes sense for the Lakers. So would it be worth giving up all the stuff the Lakers have left to get him, along with Hield? Tony East, host of Locked on Pacers, joins the show to break it all down. How did Indiana get here? Why aren't they interested in keeping Turner themselves, given his relative youth? What would the Lakers get in Turner were they to acquire him? Would Turner be worth a long-term investment? How about Buddy Hield, who did a lot of stuff in Indiana he didn't do so well in Sacramento (while, ironically, his 3-point shooting slumped relative to career norms). So would that stuff translate to Los Angeles, too? There's a ton to cover, and we break it all down. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky, Guest Tony East SEGMENT 1: What are the Pacers looking for in a trade? SEGMENT 2: Why do they seem so dead set on trading Turner? Couldn't they keep him themselves? What does it mean that they (apparently) aren't? SEGMENT 3: What do the Lakers get if they trade for Turner? For Hield? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The Lakers Acquire Patrick Beverley for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson. Is Westbrook Next to Go?

Locked On Lakers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Lakers

It wasn't the trade people were expecting, necessarily, but it was a pretty important one. Wednesday night, the Lakers agreed to send G/F Talen Horton-Tucker and forward Stanley Johnson to Utah for veteran point guard Patrick Beverley. Assuming Beverley at 34 can keep up his track record of defense and (a slump from distance last year notwithstanding) good 3-point shooting, he'll improve the Lakers in both areas this season. Meanwhile, THT and Johnson both had potential, in different ways, and potential value, in different ways, but neither had a clear path to significant playing time. So in that sense - one guy in who will play a lot for two guys out who might not have - the Lakers improve. So what's next? On the surface at least, it appears to be a trade that comes before another trade, in part because it leaves the Lakers with a glut at point guard in Beverley, Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Nunn (on a team already featuring a point guard in LeBron James), but also because Westbrook and Beverley hate each other. Like, a long, rich history of feuding that goes back a decade. It feels kind of untenable ... though it would be great if the Lakers gave us a glimpse of what it could look like, just for entertainment purposes. So assuming the trade is Westbrook to Indiana for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner (long rumored) would that, along with the Beverley deal, put the Lakers in position to contend? It improves them for sure, but how much? Finally, while THT still has the potential to be a quality player in the league and carve out a long career, his trade from LA is a cap to a horrible stretch of asset management from the Lakers. Like, they botched this good. And while the team deserves credit for not clinging to an error (many, many errors), you can only get points for undoing bad mistakes so many times. This is not a happy ending where the Lakers come out ahead. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: The Lakers are trading for Patrick Beverley. SEGMENT 2: So what's next? Is Russ soon to follow? Can the Lakers spin themselves back into contention? SEGMENT 3: The mismanagement of THT, and what he represents about the Lakers front office. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Kevin Durant is Staying in Brooklyn, Which Means Kyrie Irving Isn't Coming to the Lakers. Plan B?

So, all that stuff? Just kidding. Nothing to see here, anymore. Yep, Tuesday saw Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets agree to move forward together in pursuit of an NBA championship. Nothing about this is particularly surprising - short of an overwhelming offer Brooklyn had zero incentive to move Durant and KD had almost no leverage to force the team's hand - but it is nonetheless revealing. The landscape in the NBA has changed and superstars flexing, or trying to flex, are finding that context can make a big difference in determining whether that flex works. For the Lakers, there are long term implications around stars and star culture, but the more immediate impact? No Kyrie Irving. If Durant ain't moving, neither is Kyrie. So where to the Lakers go now, knowing that their top trade target is off the market, and there aren't exactly a ton of teams clamoring to take Russell Westbrook off their hands? Does it put more pressure on them to engineer a deal with the Pacers, trying to preserve as good of terms as possible even if it means giving up both first rounders for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield? Does it help them enough? Is there really a better deal to be had down the road, with just two first round picks and little young talent to dangle? In many ways, the Lakers again are deep into Argo territory, trying to find the best bad option they have. And what about Dennis Schröder? Is there a chance LA's favorite German point guard could make a return this season? HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Kevin Durant is staying in Brooklyn. Because of course he is. SEGMENT 2: Kyrie is off the market, so where do the Lakers go from here? SEGMENT 3: Is there more pressure to make a deal with Indiana? And is Dennis Schröder a good idea?
