In this episode, Quinn discusses a common mistake many make when trying to implement change: diving straight into action without proper preparation. She introduces an alternative approach called the Trans Theoretical Process of Change, which includes stages such as pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, and action. Quinn uses personal experiences and a client's story to illustrate the importance of thorough preparation, self-reflection, and internal work before taking action. Emphasizing the necessity of building a strong foundation, she shares how this method led to significant improvements in her own life and in the lives of others. The episode encourages listeners to consider their values, develop self-compassion, and prepare internally for sustained success. Finally, Quinn invites listeners to seek help in achieving the life of their dreams through a more supportive and effective approach to change.00:00 Introduction: A Common Misstep01:13 Understanding the Process of Change01:45 The Stages of Change02:44 Personal Story: From Obesity to Strength15:13 Client Success Story: Katerina's Journey21:11 The Importance of Preparation24:47 Conclusion: Achieving Long-Term Success

Our guest today is Scott Johnston, an expert in endurance sports including everything from alpine skiing to mountain running. He has worked with Killian Jornet, arguably one of the best ultra endurance athletes on the planet, and numerous top cross country skiers in the US. He's the author of Training for the Uphill Athlete and Training for the New Alpinism. Both books are manuals for athletes and coaches, filled with resources and tools to elevate endurance training. Scott Johnston is himself a lifelong endurance athlete, having performed at high levels in swimming, skiing, and climbing. As a coach, he has practiced and refined an approach to training athletes that emphasizes the skills that can be practiced and acknowledges the genetic determinants of certain abilities. In this episode, Scott explains the tripod of endurance, which are the foundational principles for going long in any sport. Listen to the entire episode to better understand these three principles and what you can do to improve your own training, including: Running with perfect form, as David Rudisha does Collecting feedback by video, mirror, or other method to assess your running Including strides in workouts Strength training for endurance Thank you Precision Hydration!
