De eerste halve finalisten zijn bekend in de Champions League: AC Milan en Real Madrid. Smaakmaker Napoli, voor velen een zekere halve finalist, werd dus uitgeschakeld. In de AD Voetbalpodcast bespreekt Etienne Verhoeff dit met Johan Inan. Verder praten ze over de lessen van Feyenoord in Europa, scheidsrechters met een zendertje en Ajax naar Duitsland. Niet Napoli maar AC Milan staat in de halve finale. Heeft het voetbal dan weer verloren wil Verhoeff weten van Inan? ‘Er zijn genoeg mensen die genieten van een degelijk defensief plan zoals Milan dat deed tegen Napoli. Ze kwamen er maar niet doorheen en het draait de laatste weken ook niet bij Napoli. Ik ben er twee keer geweest dit seizoen. Dat elftal voetbalde toen zo makkelijk. Daarmee verliest de Champions League wel de grootste smaakmaker.' In de Serie A heeft Napoli een grote voorsprong op de achtervolgers. Het gat met AC Milan was bijvoorbeeld meer dan twintig punten. ‘Napoli weet al lange tijd dat het kampioen wordt en mist misschien daardoor ook de spanningsboog die je nodig hebt voor de Champions League. Ik denk dat Feyenoord gebaat is bij dit schema met Europees voetbal doordeweeks. In Europa word je gedwongen een hoger tempo te spelen en meer positie wisselingen te creëren. Een makkelijk weekend voor Feyenoord, Ajax, PSV en FC Twente. AZ verloor van Sparta. Het was ook het weekend van netten in de Kuip, Liverpool-Arsenal, de elleboog van een assistent-scheidsrechter en geen grote incidenten in de stadions. Etienne Verhoeff neemt het door met Maarten Wijffels in een nieuwe AD Voetbalpodcast. ,,Die netten in de Kuip bij Feyenoord-RKC blijft wel iets treurigs", begint Wijffels. ,,Ik ben alleen benieuwd hoe het volgend seizoen gaat. Je moet hopen dat dit niet standaard wordt in dat stadion."Verder kende Feyenoord een probleemloos weekend. ,,Dat komt aan de ene kant door Mats Wieffer en zijn loopacties en een spits dit in vorm is met Santiago Giménez. Aan de andere kant, de instelling van RKC was ook wel een beetje naïef." PSV versloeg in de strijd om plek twee Excelsior, Ajax had geen kind aan Fortuna Sittard. In Amsterdam ging het ook over Brian Brobbey. De laatste tien wedstrijden had hij slechts één keer een basisplek. ,,Sommige spelers hebben een kleinere motor. Bij PSV had Donyell Malen dat bijvoorbeeld. Daar ging ook het verhaal dat hij maar zeventig minuten kon spelen. Het eerste beeld van Brobbey wat mij voor staat is bij een EK onder 17 in Ierland. Toen zag ik hem zestig meter terugsprinten om balbezit te houden. De bondscoach van dat team zei ook dat hij zoveel verdedigend werk deed. Still others (SADLY!) think it's about getting a hot pack and ultrasound to their knee. Oof!Although my guest, Dr. Julia Rosenthal, and I are both physical therapists, we are not biased in knowing the truth that physical therapy is one of the only therapeutic professions that addresses physical and mental resilience, mindfulness, capacity building, trauma, pain management, and lasting changes to quality of life without the use of any kind of pill or invasive technique.Dr. Julia Rosenthal is a pelvic floor and orthopedic physical therapist and founder of Empower Physical Therapy in DUMBO, NYC. In our discussion today, we touch on how important it is to show our patients how strong they really are and how moving is safe since everything we do as physical therapists affects the nervous system. Julia helps people build habits, and movement habits promote longevity. She also bridges the gap between strength/fitness and pelvic PT. Julia has extensive clinical experience in treating people with both orthopedic and pelvic conditions in a variety of settings including multiple outpatient physical therapy practices in New York City, backstage on Broadway, and with multiple professional dance companies. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) at Columbia University, and went on to complete an orthopedic residency through NYU, where she specialized in Dance Medicine at the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries. Amber graduated from Ithaca College from the BS/MS Occupational Therapy program in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Currently, she is a Travel Occupational Therapist in NYC working with the geriatric population in SNFs. In addition to being an OT, Amber is also passionate about fitness. At Ithaca College, Amber was a 2x All-American hurdler and captain on the Women's Track and Field team and currently enjoys strength training with kettlebells as a Certified Russian Kettlebell Coach (RKC) and Dynamic Sports Performance Certified Coach (DSPCC). 'Dat PSV meer dan een minuut kan rondspelen voordat er gescoord wordt. Niemand van Ajax pakte dat aan. Daar sprak angst uit en dat begon al met de opstelling. Schreuder had zijn team aangepast op PSV. Ze hadden daar Madueke bedacht in plaats van Simons. Blind werd het slachtoffer daarvan.' En dus waren er fluitconcerten en waren er spreekkoren richting Schreuder. 'Ik denk dat het voor eerst in lange tijd was dat een trainer onderwerp van een spreekkoor was bij Ajax', reageert Mossou. ‘Ajax begon goed aan het seizoen en je verwacht een ontwikkeling. Maar die blijft achter op alle fronten. Schreuder is een ander type coach dan Ten Hag en misschien wel ander kaliber coach. Al is dat nog te vroeg om te zetten.'PSV heeft met Luuk de Jong een belangrijke pion weer terug. Ajax werd de grote winnaar van het weekend. Onverwacht lieten PSV, Feyenoord en AZ punten liggen bij de ploegen uit het rechterrijtje. Vooral PSV was opmerkelijk. In zes minuten speelde de ploeg van Van Nistelrooij een verloren wedstrijd. In de AD Voetbalpodcast bespreekt Etienne Verhoeff het weekend met Mikos Gouka en Johan Inan. Zoals altijd op maandag gebeurt dat aan de hand van vier stellingen. Een van die stellingen gaat over FC Groningen-PSV. Bij Inan viel vooral de houding bij PSV na afloop op. ‘Bij PSV hebben ze het over die zes minuten vlak voor rust en voor de rest hebben ze wel lekker gevoetbald. Van Nistelrooij moet dat toch de massagetafel doormidden slaan in de kleedkamer? Je hebt nu een beetje het gevoel van kan gebeuren. Kökcü zegt na Feyenoord-Fortuna Sittard dat het schandalig is. Dat verwacht je bij PSV ook te horen.'Feyenoord liet thuis punten liggen tegen Fortuna Sittard. En dus kan de titel voorlopig uit het hoofd worden gezet. ‘Als je deze wedstrijden niet wint, dan laat je als Feyenoord te veel punten liggen voor een titel', reageert Gouka. 'Als je ergens aan mee wilt doen, moet je de wedstrijden uit het rechterrijtje verslaan. Dit gelijke spel tegen Fortuna gaat dan wel doorwerken. Dan moet je de toppers winnen tegen bijvoorbeeld Ajax.' Was bij Ajax dan alles goed? Nee, zeker niet. ‘De verdediging van Ajax is het zorgenkindje. Sinds Liverpool is het bar en boos. Ze hebben niet meer de nul gehouden. De topclubs in de Eredivisie wonnen hun wedstrijden. FC Twente kon niet aanhaken door de nederlaag bij Feyenoord. Er werd geloot voor de EK 2024, Tadic was een soort assistent bij Ajax, Feyenoord is nog niet af en Peter Bosz zoekt een nieuwe baan. Het komt allemaal voorbij de AD Voetbalpodcast met Johan Inan, Mikos Gouka en Etienne Verhoeff.'Tadic die langs de lijn staat om energie in de ploeg te brengen, tegen FC Volendam, zou niet nodig moeten zijn', begint Inan in de podcast. Gouka: 'Ik vraag me dan gelijk af bij welke trainer zou ik dit ook nog durven?'Tadic is de laatste weken wel de gebeten hond bij Ajax. 'Hij is op de rechterkant geplaatst en je kunt je afvragen waarom? De tandem met Blind werkte prima. Die rechterflank is niet zijn positie. Er wordt enorm veel geld geïnvesteerd in de linksflank, waar je al mensen hebt, en slechts tien miljoen euro aan de rechterflank.'Verder bespreken ze tombola in de eredivisie. Weinig ploegen hebben stabiliteit. 'AZ en NEC zijn stabiel', zegt Inan. 'Sparta en RKC doen het prima op dit moment', vult Gouka aan. Kan een vrouw bondscoach worden van de Engelse mannen? Een Nederlandse vrouw? Het is een van de vragen in de AD Voetbalpodcast vandaag. Etienne Verhoeff bespreekt het met Sjoerd Mossou. Net als de top 3 of top 5 in Nederland en hekkensluiter FC Emmen. De bondscoach van Engeland staat onder druk na de prestaties van de Three Lions de laatste weken. ‘Southgate was lange tijd de ideale schoonzoon in Engeland. Ik vraag me nu wel af of hij het WK gaat halen', begint Mossou, waarna Verhoeff hem de suggestie van The Athletic voorlegt: Sarina Wiegman moet het gaan doen. 'Ik zie het niet gebeuren, maar het zou een geweldige stunt zijn. Ik zou het toejuichen. Maar het is wel een enorm verschil tussen mannen- en vrouwenvoetbal.'  Verderop de podcast spreekt Verhoeff ook Almere City trainer Alex Pastoor. Hij werkte in het verleden bij Sparta samen met Wiegman, die een contract kreeg als assistent bij de Rotterdamse club. ‘Ze kan heel goed voor een mannengroep staan. Maar dat gaat lang duren voordat iemand dat gaat doen. Er zijn niet zoveel mensen die hun nek durven uit te steken en daarmee hun eigen stoel op het spel willen zetten.' In de blik op het weekend komt Mossou uit bij FC Emmen. De hekkensluiter van de eredivisie. ‘FC Emmen is wel de meest onderpresterende ploeg uit de eredivisie. Ze staan onderaan met een spelersbudget dat veel hoger is dan clubs als RKC, Excelsior en Volendam bijvoorbeeld. Maar Lukkien haalt gewoon de kerst.
