We are called to be a light on a hill for all to see the work God is doing in our life so that people will praise our Father in Heaven. So let's take the hill! In this message, Pastor Phil walks us through that process. There are ways to show and tell the world about the love of Christ, and that means that we can't look like the world. Check out the ways in which the following steps are important in taking the hill and being the light to a world of darkness.- Confess our sin to Jesus- Ask for His grace and mercy to guide and lead us- Remove places of darkness in our life- Find others who will take the hill with us.(Matthew 5 tells us, “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.")

Alright, strap yourself in because this week's Leap of Faith will feature a multi-million dollar legend. What you'll learn here is PRICELESS.Peter Taunton is the best-selling author of Impossible Hill: Discover Your Unstoppable Fire, Destroy Your Limits & Take The Hill of Your Dreams. He's also a renowned Forbes masterclass instructor, was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2010, and has a net worth of over $100 million. I mean, come on, the guy's the real deal.Peter's inspiration came from his dad at a very young age. From a family of 7, he was the youngest. The family tradition was just engrossed in business. Their father owned a grocery store and it was their livelihood. Their rite of passage? Once they turn 8 years old, they are given the chance to sell something in front of the store (for him, it was popcorn). He saw how his father never stopped working. Sunrise to sundown, the man had grit and never stopped grinding. Weather wasn't an obstacle. This determination was his inspiration.Fast forward to when he was 22. His biggest leap of faith was him standing in front of a health club haemorrhaging over 200,000 US dollars annually. He was given the job to save it. Actually, he was given a gamble… they lowballed him for a $16,000 annual salary, but they offered to buy the business out with all the profits he'll make. Now he thought: “Why the hell would I do this?”When life draws the cards for you, you have to play the hand you're dealt.Peter discussed how being backed into a corner made him learn a lot of business lessons early on. He shared how he got people to stop and listen to his pitches. He realised what buttons to push and what words to say at the right time. He knew how to place the best employees in the right lanes and get them working towards a common goal. Now, he owns a music festival in Minnesota, a five-star lodge in the Serengeti, and multiple investments that set up his family for life. Peter Taunton is now considered a pioneer in the fitness industry as the founder of Lift Brands and Snap Fitness 24/7, a leading fitness franchise all around the world. See? When you take a leap of faith, great things happen. Take The Hill by Emmanuel Christian Center
Joshua 14:4-6 Speaker: Jeff Peabody
What does it mean to “Take the Hill” In military terms, it is the declaration of a tactical maneuver that will include a violent assault upwards (physically) in an attempt to take the high ground. The higher ground is the tactical advantage. It could be on top of a building, a hill, a canyon rim, or a watchtower. Tactically, this is a superior advantage over being “downhill” To take it a step further, taking the hill is a commitment to achievement, at any cost. The mission is to attain the higher ground so strategically, it is planned for. With every aggressive action in life, there are consequences. Some severe and some not but it is understood at the beginning. How can you apply that to life? Like the “burn the Boats” discussion, we must find something that is so tactically important to our lives that we are willing to make the sacrifices to attain it. The uphill battle is one of the toughest ones you can fight from a tactical setting but in the end, the value of the hill supersedes the known and accepted risk. What do you have in your life that is your “hill”? What objectives do you have that are of high value? Oftentimes, we do not see or appreciate the hills in our life that need us to stand on them. This can lead to a feeling of despair or being lost. This can lead us to just fumbling through the daily process without real meaning. From a mental health perspective, this can be very damaging to our progress and self-worth. I like to think of goats when I think of high ground. They love to stand on things. Whatever they can get on to be higher than those around them. We have all seen those silly goat videos. Find yourself the hill in your life and pursue it with purposeful action and an aggressive pursuit to earn it. Be like a goat and go stand on something :)

With no mice to catch and no claws to Hunt, he curls up in a ball of video games and pornography to escape the daydreams of a long lost nobility, a long abdicated purpose. Now if you and I are connected on social media – especially on Instagram, you have probably seen a post or two from me about running. I love running, especially running outdoors, and it’s a form of not only exercise but of meditation for me. I’ve also shared some of my recent challenges with running thanks to a knee that wants me to slow it up a bit. But overall, outdoor distance running is my thing, and while I do shorter runs during the week, for the past six weeks or so at the time of this recording, I’ve started going to the park near where I live here in Georgia each weekend and doing the beautiful five and half mile trail there. Now along this trail, there are plenty of trees and wildlife and lakes and just everything that you’d want to take in during a run. And there are ALSO plenty of hills – looooong and in some cases steeeeep hills. Because the trail is still new to me, I don’t know exactly when they’re coming, but I know they’re coming! And boy! Does my mind go through all kinds of changes as I start to approach them! Notice that I said my MIND – not my body! My body, other than this knee challenge that I mentioned, is fine as long as I take it slow. But my mind??? The mental acrobatics that it goes through to convince me to stop before I get to that hill – and when that hill is in view – is remarkable! So during this weekend’s run – as I dug in and ran up one of those many hills, I started to think about the hills we all face in our lives and in our businesses, and how many times we may either try to avoid them, give up when we encounter them, or get halfway to the top and turn back around. Can you relate? So on this episode, I want to share some words of encouragement and a few reasons for women entrepreneurs to TAKE THE HILL in your business and life! DON'T MISS AN EPISODE! One of the greatest hills we can take in our church, in our families, and in our community is the children and students that God has placed around us. We have the incredible opportunity to encourage, pray for, train up and come alongside young people in a way that will forever change their lives and countless others for years and years to come. Take the hill!
Evil doesn't flourish in the world around us because people are getting more sinful, that battle has already been won. Evil will continue to destroy lives as long as those who have been called to live life differently fail to do so.
God has called us to reach ever single individual in our circle of influence with the good news of Jesus Christ. All of us have the opportunity to be a story changer. When we engage people around us with the hope, good news and love of Jesus Christ, God will use our availability to forever change people’s stories.
