James Harrington and his wife, Marina, have one of the most incredible two-person mind reading acts I have seen. I experienced their show recently at MAGIC Texas in Dallas where they gave multiple shows for intimate groups of 30 people. The speed at which they move and the information shared as they both talked with each other and the audience was something that rivaled or eclipsed most other similar acts I have seen. This was their first ever magic convention performance and I feel lucky to have witnessed that because they normally only perform in their home region of Dubai. In this episode James tells us about how he traveled from his home in England and where and how he met and married Marina then developed their incredible act. We do talk about other acts, but each has its own personalities and agendas and methods. Download this podcast in an MP3 file by Clicking Here and then right click to save the file. James Harrington, CEO of the Ugandan Water Project, returns to share his groundbreaking approach to nonprofit leadership. Unlike many traditional charitable organizations, James has successfully infused his operation with the discipline and metrics-driven strategies of the business world. The result? A nonprofit that doesn't just dream of making an impact but delivers it consistently, efficiently, and transparently. James outlines his unique vision of treating donors like investors, focusing on both the urgency of the mission and the measurable outcomes that ensure every dollar is maximized. James emphasizes a powerful truth: the global water crisis is not an insurmountable challenge; it is a solvable problem. By running the Ugandan Water Project with a results-oriented approach, he and his team have crossed significant milestones, from providing clean water to over 600,000 people to maintaining an impressive 99.7% uptime on water systems. In this episode, you'll discover how a data-driven and business-like mindset can revolutionize charitable work and why the world needs more nonprofits committed to sustainable, actionable change. Key Takeaways: Business-Driven Nonprofit Strategy: Treating the nonprofit like a business has increased transparency, urgency, and efficiency, earning the trust and respect of donors. A Solvable Crisis: The global water crisis isn't just a challenge; it's an opportunity for tangible, measurable impact. Targeted investments can restore wells and bring life-changing clean water to communities. Data and Metrics for Accountability: The Ugandan Water Project is committed to data-driven operations, from tracking the number of people impacted to measuring response times and system uptime, ensuring every initiative is effective and impactful. Performance-Based Funding Innovation: Ugandan Water Project has adopted performance-based models where they report on outcomes and are compensated based on success, proving their commitment to delivering real results. Empowering Local Communities: With a staff of 50 Ugandan professionals, the project thrives on local expertise and cultural sensitivity, ensuring that solutions are sustainable and community-driven. Efficient and Impactful Giving: Contributions of just $18-$20 can provide clean water for one person, and $2,000 can restore a well for an entire community, demonstrating that impactful change is within reach for anyone who wants to get involved. Solving Problems for Good: The Ugandan Water Project isn't just about installing wells; it's about maintaining them, partnering with communities, and creating lasting change that extends well beyond a one-time intervention. As the climate changes and populations boom, water supplies are under increasing pressure. The idea of drinking water that was once swirling down your toilet bowl or kitchen sink may make you feel squeamish, but it could hold the key to future water security. University of Sydney Professor Stuart Khan explains the promise of purified recycled water, and how it can future-proof water supplies in a thirsty nation prone to drought. “There is the opportunity to start thinking more about a circular economy and how we might reuse the water that we're currently discharging.” Professor Khan points out that all water on Earth is recycled – the water you're drinking “has quite likely been drunk by dinosaurs in the past” and could be described as “purified dinosaur pee”. But there's a huge psychological hurdle involved in drinking water that's gone from ‘toilet to tap'. So how do you sell the idea to a skeptical public? You'll hear from Dee Madigan, creative director of advertising agency Campaign Edge and a regular on ABC TV show Gruen. You'll also get a taste of how the technology works as you go inside Sydney Water's Purified Recycled Water Demo Plant, with plant manager James Harrington. +++ The Solutionists is podcast from the University of Sydney, produced by Deadset Studios. These are some authors we really agree with! Join us as we look at the foundational republican thinkers: James Harrington, Algernon Sidney, and Montesquieu. We discuss Harrington's economic-based republicanism of Oceana, with the ability of freeholders to form militias and defend themselves against the government. We also talk about Sidney's aristocracy-based popular republic, and heavily feature Montesquieu's spirit-based approach to politics, which is something that we both agree should be discussed more in the modern day. We break down how these theories could (and should) be applied today, why they are so important, and also why firefighters think too highly of themselves. Also, join our t-shirt giveaway competition by leaving us the most interesting review you can! More details for entry can be found on our Twitter! @UlmtdOpinions

But these (protest movements) tend to develop very quickly like a squall and we could see a lot of problems in the weeks ahead,” said John.French petrol stations run dry with fuel prices set to riseAlso in this week's episode we look at whether €72.2 million could bring an end to the dangerous and deadly Channel migrant crossings and what happened to the 234 migrants on a rescue ship that was allowed to dock in France.OPINION: France and the UK need to get real if they really want stop Channel migrant crossingsAnd we'll also hear about an almighty row involving the man some call “France's Rupert Murdoch” and learn some French insults that we don't recommend you use – (but they are useful to know).Do you live on the coast of France? A new report has mapped out those parts of the country's coastline which could one day be under water. We'll take you through them to see if you area or favourite coastal resort in France is affected.MAPS: The parts of France set to be underwater as sea levels riseOur host Ben McPartland is joined by The Local France's journalists Gen Mansfield and James Harrington, our politics expert John Lichfield and special guest Caroline Conner from Lyon Wine Tastings. James Harrington is the founder of the nonprofit Ugandan Water Project. I got to know James back when we were both involved in the ministry world and even played on tour together. In this episode, we talk about why James began the Ugandan Water Project and what he has learned over the nearly 15 years he has been running the nonprofit. Some of the questions we dive into are: How did he get into starting a nonprofit for communities in Uganda from his small town in western New York? What were his early fundraising pitches like? Who were the people connecting with in the beginning? Was there a season where he felt like they had finally made it? What are the project's core values? Thala and Shaun are joined by freelance French rugby journalist, James Harrington (@Jamesonrugby) to take a deep dive look into the recent success of the French rugby team. To illustrate the depth of the scientific divide over Covid lockdowns and vaccines, take a closer look at Fauci, emails and some alleged science regarding the Great Barrington Declaration. Phillip W. Magness and James Harrington have some eye-opening evidence regarding how far the powers that be are willing to go to silence dissenters. A lot of public health "experts" seem to think they can control a virus. Jordan Schachtel says, in reality, these experts in government and academia are exposing themselves as clueless charlatans who want to control the rest of us. The people and systems that seek to rule us work overtime to convince us that they're simply responding to what we really want. Paul Rosenberg warns not to believe them and he describes why we'll be so much better without them. Going to college used to be the key to a brighter future. Unfortunately, a college degree just doesn't open the doors it once did. Peter Clark has a compelling explanation of why college degrees are losing their value. The question that should be on our minds as 2021 draws to a close: where do we go from here? Business process improvement (BPI) Listen to Omar, from a leading airline based in Abu Dhabi do a presentation about Business Process Improvement in his company, including : His roles in Business Process Improvement The objectives of BPI in his company How they have implemented BPI New ideas that they are exploring to improve employee participation in BPI Until recently, cost-cutting was seen as the biggest benefit - and in some cases the only significant benefit of outsourcing business processes. Now, as the global economy improves, airlines are far more interested in how outsourcing core services such as revenue accounting, cargo operations, customer relationship management, and loyalty programs can improve efficiencies and open new, sustainable revenue streams. Business Process Improvement is a systematic approach to help an organization optimize its underlying processes to achieve more efficient results. The methodology was first documented in H. James Harrington's 1991 book Business Process Improvement. It is the methodology that both Process Redesign and Business Process Reengineering are based upon. BPI has allegedly been responsible for reducing cost and cycle time by as much as 90% while improving quality by over 60%. Process improvement is an aspect of organizational development (OD) in which a series of actions are taken by a process owner to identify, analyze and improve existing business processes within an organisation to meet new goals and objectives, such as increasing profits and performance, reducing costs and accelerating schedules. These actions often follow a specific methodology or strategy to increase the likelihood of successful results. Process improvement may include the restructuring of company training programs to increase their effectiveness. Process improvement is also a method to introduce process changes to improve the quality of a product or service, to better match customer and consumer needs. 175 - IRONMAN© World Championship - James Harrington-In this episode of the Pursuit of the Perfect Race, I talk with returning guest James Harrington about his race at the IRONMAN© World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. This is a very impressive interview as I talk with the details and logistics that go into racing on the big island. We talk about the Hot Corner there on the run course and what it’s really like to have a hard race on such a beautiful day. One of the biggest takeaways from this interview is he mentions that mindsets are not all the same and what his mindset needs to be is not what everyone else’s should be for the same race.
