In Episode 36, “There's No Place Like Home,” Elizabeth and Flourish reflect on the ways that reboots and never-ending sequels have changed the experience of being a fan alongside an extended (and hopefully successful!) metaphor about relationships with family over time. Well, this was a pain in the ass. We started recording this episode on the Friday before Thanksgiving, but found ourselves interrupted during the discussion of LOST! (we're talking about "Something Nice Back Home," "Cabin Fever," and "There's No Place Like Home, Pt. 1" this week). So we tried to reconvene a couple of times, but...that didn't work out so well. So, almost a week later, we rejoined to finish this glued together, shambling monster of a podcast. The conversation is good though, with the LOST! talk sandwiched by Elementary and Friday Night Lights. Next week (by which I mean this week, probably tomorrow), back to Deep Space Nine, with "Crossfire," "Return to Grace," and "Sons of Mogh."
We open up this week's show by talking about math for no discernible reason, then move on to our usual topics: grousing about the procedural mechanics of Elementary, gushing about Deep Space Nine -- in this case, the delightfully silly "Our Man Bashir" and the brooding two-parter "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost" -- and raving about Friday Night Lights.Next week, Jack's dad wants to talk to about a couple of things on LOST!, with "Something Nice Back Home," "Cabin Fever," and "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1."
Move the island: this week, Matt looks back at LOST episode 4x14, "There's No Place Like Home, Part 3." The podcast discusses the climax of season four, the reappearance of Penny, and the unconventional end to the season storyline.
Get to the chopper! This week, Matt looks back at LOST episode 4x13, "There's No Place Like Home, Part 2." The podcast discusses the near-complete forming of the to-be Oceanic 6, the not-quite-dead Keamy, and his awesome fight with Sayid.
The Oceanic Six are home: but at what cost? This week, Matt looks back at LOST episode 4x12, "There's No Place Like Home, Part 1." The podcast discusses the O6 guilty lies, the island forming (and unforming) of those six, and the wonderful Giacchino montage at the end.
