“I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand.” What we are dealing with here is not hunger. People are in danger. You know this small town is not going to let a bunch of violent murders go on. Who is doing this? Human? Animal? Everyone is upset and taking it in their own hands. In the middle of the night, after sneaking out, Marty (Corey Haim) witnesses the truth. This is a monster! Luckily, he escapes, but only barely, after this encounter. With the aid of his sister, Jane (Megan Follows), Marty desperately tries to convince Uncle Red (Gary Busey) of what has been really happening in town. Uncle Red, beyond his better judgement, agrees to assist the duo with their supernatural conspiracies. We're glad he did. RTS avoids the rolling fog marsh lands during the full moon. Collin, La-Mar and Jeremy meet “a sort of wizard in weapons.” Get this Stephen King work on your list! “I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.”

It is a somber page in history as Hughes Van Ellis, the youngest known survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre, bid farewell at the age of 102. A man whose early life was overshadowed by the violent destruction of Tulsa's Black Wall Street, Mr. Van Ellis not only survived the tragedy but lived as a beacon of resilience, justice, and inspiration. The World War II veteran, lovingly dubbed "Uncle Red" by those close to him, raised seven children in the aftermath of one of America's darkest days. Uncle Red wasn't just a silent witness. He took action, fighting passionately for justice, compensation, and the acknowledgment of the massacre's painful legacy. His voice echoed in Congress and courtrooms, advocating for what was lost and what must be remembered. Now, as we mourn his loss, we are also reminded of the urgent need for justice. With only two survivors of the Tulsa Race Massacre still with us, will justice ever come? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Stephen King's tale of a small town with a big werewolf problem is the topic of this episode of “Boys and Ghouls”. First conceived as a calendar, it grew into a sparse novel titled, “Cycle of the Werewolf”. This grew and transformed into the 1985 feature film, “Silver Bullet”. Listen in as Kat and Marshall detail the origin of this video store favorite, from its early collaborators to its role in establishing North Carolina as a long-time center of film and television production. Join us as we reflect on how much Gary Busey brought to the screen as the sometimes-responsible Uncle Red. And remember the shining light that was young Cory Haim, as the wheelchair-bound boy who survives a werewolf attack then has to get some serious help before the next full moon. Also, Kat proves that no detail is too small as she examines a summertime Maine tradition, briefly mentioned in the book. And Marshall shares the tale of his own encounter with the larger-than-life Gary Busey.
