This week, we're talking about Atlanta's Veterans Hospitals. When I first put this topic on my list, I thought I'd be covering the 1960s-era hospital that is still operating over on Clairmont Road, but I was surprised to learn we had several other variations and the history of caring for veterans in Atlanta is over 130 years old.   Want to support this podcast? Recently I have been watching the series Dr Death on the streaming service Stan here in Australia. It's a true crime series that is extremally unnerving as both season 1 and 2 tell stories of Dr's who would weave a web of lies, manipulation and utter devastation. Countless patients would have their lives forever changed at the hands of these men, men who they were supposed to be able to trust, with some patients even dying from what was done to them.I wanted to find out more about this world and these Dr's and nurses who go from taking an oath to help people to ultimately destroing lives. So today I sit down with former Special Agent Bruce Sackman for a fascinating and quiet terrifying two part discussion on medical serial killers. When veterans hospital patients who are recovering well all of a sudden start to die in increasing numbers, it's up to VA Special Agent in Charge Bruce Sackman to find out why. His shocking discovery rips open the hidden world of what goes on behind the bedside curtains when a killer doctor or nurse decides a patient must die, as detailed in his book Behind the Murder Curtain. The true story of Bruce Sackman, Special Agent in Charge of the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General. Sackman's main responsibilities had been investigating white-collar crimes such as embezzlement when he is drawn into the macabre world of doctors and nurses who murder their patients. Sackman evolves from an investigator of routine cases to the world's leading expert on Medical Serial Killers—MSKs—doctors and nurses who ply their evil trade hidden behind the privacy curtain at a patient's bedside.Behind the Murder Curtain tells how this dedicated investigator brought down four MSKs in Veterans Hospitals while developing the RED FLAGS PROTOCOL, which is now taught to investigators and forensic nurses throughout the world as a tool for stopping an MSK. We're back live with the latest news from the Irreverent Warriors and breakdown/discussions of viral stories and videos from around the AOR. Pin-Ups For Vets has served the Veteran community for 15 years. They produce annual 1940s-style calendars featuring female as WWII-pin-ups! The calendar serves to fundraise for Veteran and Troop initiatives- from a 50-state Veterans hospital tour where they deliver gifts of appreciation to hospitalized Veterans (they have visited with over 15,000 Veterans at VA Hospitals Military Hospitals and State Veterans Homes), to donating rehab equipment to Veterans Hospitals, to morale-boosting makeovers for female Veterans and military spouses, to shipping care packages to deployed troops around the globe. One of their Ambassadors who is a Marine says, “There is nothing that says I can’t be a hard-charging a Marine, and a lipstick-wearing pin-up, so I choose to be both.” These ladies are changing the narrative of what it means to be a Veteran. They are breaking the stereotype. Visit www.irreverentwarriors.com  for a list of all upcoming #Silkieshikes! Support the show and buy a T!!! Black Hollywood live host Lem Gonsalves interviews Chloe Mondesir today on Conversations. Chloe Mondesir is an American Actress. She was born and raised in Oak Cliff, a borough of Dallas, Texas. Chloe graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where she was able to attend advanced placement courses in both academics and the arts. Chloe attended Newman University on a soccer scholarship. After a year of College in Wichita, Kansas, she decided to join the United States Marine Corps. Chloe served 4 years in the Marines as an Ammunition Technician. She spent 2 years in Okinawa, Japan at the Ammunition Supply Point, 1 year at the School of Infantry in North Carolina, and she completed a tour of duty in Fallujah, Iraq. Chloe was awarded a Certificate of Accommodation for her part in successfully transporting 300,000 tons of ammunition during her deployment. After completing a 4 year contract with the Marines, a failed marriage, and becoming a single mother, Chloe found herself back in Dallas, TX homeless. For a year she lived in her car and took her daughter to “visit” family members to avoid the feeling of shame and failure. Eventually she was able to get back on her feet and decided that she would return to her first love; the arts. Chloe saved her money from a temporary job she had been working, packed her and her daughters clothes, and drove to Los Angeles to chase her dreams of becoming a working actress. After studying Theatre at Los Angeles City College, she landed an internship at Station Film as a production assistant. Chloe used her position to learn as much about the industry as possible. She soon found herself going on auditions on a regular basis. Auditioning proved to be a challenge for the young actress as she was forced to bring her (then) 3 year old daughter along. Though completing the audition process with a small child was a challenge, it ended up landing Chloe’s daughter in a national Super Bowl Commercial and eventually a contract with a well known agency. As she managed her daughter’s acting career, Chloe completed her Business degree with a concentration in Marketing online. With more time on her hands, Chloe hit the ground running after making her debut in the film “A Race against Time: The Sharla Butler Story.” She also appeared in BET''s hit comedy "Real Husbands of Hollywood." Chloe's counterparts say, “Her vibrant, energetic, and incredibly positive spirit is contagious!" Chloe has also taken classes taught by influential individuals and groups including Robert Townsend, Hawthorne James, and The Groundlings. Chloe credits her acting ability to her great teachers and life experiences, as she is able to bring a little of her past experiences into her characters Outside of acting, Chloe donates her time to a non-profit organization called Pin-Ups for Vets . Pin-Ups for Vets is a non-profit organization that raises money for underfunded Veteran Affairs Programs as well as equipment for Veterans Hospitals. Chloe, along with many other volunteers, dress in 1920’s style PinUp and visit hospitalized Veterans around the country. She’s also associated with The Vet Hunters Project, an organization that helps to reunite homeless Veterans with their loved ones. In addition to working and volunteering, Chloe works regularly with the Department of Children and Family Services in the Emergency Response Unit. Whether you had to find a mirror to see yours or you could just look down and not miss it, we've all had first encounters with our bits, you know, our genitals. In a culture that espouses a specific body ideal, we can't escape wondering if even our most private parts hold up by comparison. Bodies are amazing because of diversity not despite it. In this episode, Cooper, Ginger, Dylan and Katie Mack discuss how body positivity wins the day. To SheVibe: Thank you! Your magazine cover is … without too much hyperbole… possibly the greatest thing that has ever happened. It’s amazing and we will show our appreciation at every opportunity. We dedicate this episode to you. We discuss a couple email responses to the following letters (warning: politics ahead): Cooper... Cooper... Cooper... I'm disappointed. I listen to your podcast regularly and am a fan. But as a Kinkster/swinger/conservative I have to say I was saddened by your recent spewing of vitriol towards anyone who doesn't believe as you believe. For background.... I am a straight, polyamorous, loving dominant male. I was raised with 4 sisters by parents that instilled common courtesy and respect. From the day I started studying about alternative lifestyles, I was repeatedly reminded that "My kink is not your kink". I understood that as a clear directive to not be derisive towards another's proclivities. As long as it was safe sane and consensual, more power to them. I may not know all the intricacies of their dynamic and it wasn't my job to pass judgement. I had hoped for the same kind of inclusion and acceptance from your podcast. Your dismissive attitude towards Christians and republicans was quite disconcerting. Your right to be an Atheist does not preclude another from believing in the "fairy tales" they hold dear. Your right to vote based on a woman's choice of what to do with their body does not preclude another from believing that bigger government will NOT ensure the rights of the individual are protected and/or provided for. With the history of Conrail, the Postal Service and Veterans Hospitals as examples, I'm more convinced than ever that the answer lies in the community rather than a larger ineffective centralized governments control. I'm sure you don't want to hear my political leanings any more than I want to hear about your epic prostate orgasm. That being said, I would never denigrate you for your kink or political affiliations. And to Dylan: Just finished LotSS 220, and I wanted to write in with a comment on Dylan's suggestion for a family-friendly sexy vacation destination. While he's anxiously waiting for Disney Cruise Lines to launch their Multi-Tier Mascot Mediterranean Fuckboat, his suggestion of a build-your-own vacation is workable, with one caveat; expecting a gathering of children to make it through the night without finding -something- they think they need an adult for, especially when it's super important that they stay away, is utter folly, no matter how much you pay the kids who are ostensibly in charge. But this is a problem that can be solved by logistics. If you know you have N couples with children who would be up for a sexy vacation (I am assuming you are on the board of the Homeowners Association to have access to that sort of info) you book your hotel rooms for at least N nights. Each couple then volunteers to watch the kids during one evening while the rest of the party congregates at a room at an entirely different hotel for sexy times. That way, every adult gets at least N-1 opportunities to participate, the kids get N awesome sleepover-like parties, and nobody has to leave their kids under the care of someone they don't trust enough to show their junk to. Remember, it takes a village to raise an orgy.
