“My launch failed”, she wrote to me one Sunday evening.Weird, I thought.I'd seen the funnel — it was good. So, I asked to dig into the stats.“What was your conversion rate?”, I asked. She stared at me blankly.“You know.. the percentage of people in the launch that bought?”Oh. There was six days of silence, and she emailed me back.“5.4%”.Well, I thought.. the launch didn't fail. Actually, it converted GREAT. There just wasn't enough traffic. It was EASY for me to see the issue. And, to objectively see where the opportunity was to improve. But, she couldn't see it, and subjectively, in her mind it was a big fat flop. It's kind of the industry's fault that this sort of thing is a HUGE issue. We EXPECT fast success. Knock it out of the park wins in two seconds. And when it doesn't work out like that? We scrap the WHOLE thing, and go and build something else from scratch. But, that is a story for a different day. For today? Let's talk about HER, and how this scenario can be avoided with ONE thing. This scenario is common:GREAT launch.HIGH conversion rate. But, low traffic, so it's perceived as a flop.It is a very common and vicious cycle that occurs when someone decides to start trying to build a more leveraged business model, and it looks like this:Person builds offer; They promote it on social media to a small audience; They launch it and due to very small registrations, perceive the WHOLE thing as a flop (it's not, the LAUNCH worked great) despite a high buy rate; Even if they DO realise that it was just more traffic that was needed, they have NO idea how to get it;So, they try to haphazardly invest in Meta ads, or pitch podcasts with crappy angle and poor pitch game so nothing works; They launch again with the SAME amount of traffic as the first launch; They get even smaller results because everyone bought the first time, and eventually they give up altogether.I've seen the cycle too many times, and here's what I've realised. There is ONE thing missing, and it's letting down their WHOLE game. That one thing?A simple, effective marketing plan in place to drive the amount of traffic they need to sell their scalable offers with (relative) EASE.And that's what we'll be talking about in today's podcast episode.Want more? How about if WE practiced, tried on, the thought “if I loved YOU” I would allow you to BE who YOU are, and I would love you AS you are? But honestly, this can be one of the HARDEST thing you (we'll) ever do. BUT would that not be such a liberating a concept for all of us to experience, and embrace when it comes to dealing with each other? Like feeling really free to BE who we are, and DO what we really want to do, WHEN we want to do it, IF we want to do it? And although WE EXPECT, and DESIRE these things, we conveniently forget that OTHERS want the same thing! I've been studying Human Design lately and it is blowing my mind! Here are some things to keep in mind when dealing with loved ones, or even people you work with: Each and every one of us (or at least 99% of us) are doing the best we can, while dealing with the cards we've been dealt in life. So giving each other grace as we do life would be the best thing we can do for each other, without EXPECTING others to do for us what WE want (not need) them to do, to PROVE they love us. Let's stop the insanity. We are ALL innately and naturally good at something, but too often we are unaware of what this is. When we allow others (and ourselves) to do our thing, our way, we ALL win! How do we know we are doing the right things? It feels good, we feel joy! So how about trying to allow others to do the same, the same thing we ourselves are seeking? There is an expectation that many people hold onto throughout this season. An expectation that often leads to disappointment, frustration and sadness. That expectation is one we place on ourselves - it is the expectation of joy. We EXPECT to feel joyful. We expect to be swept away in the magic of the season. We expect the season itself, to bring those emotions. However, joy doesn't come from the season. Joy originates from within ourselves. This expectation to find joy in the season often leads to disappointment because we haven't learned how to create the joy from within rather then looking for it without. On an overpopulated planet, a baby bust is cause for celebration. It’s exactly what we need. Yet today, because of growth addiction and widespread ignorance of the overpopulation crisis, dropping birth rates are being universally reported as bad news. We circle up for roundtable discussion of the phenomenon – and provide the very important alternative, science-based, viewpoint – in this episode. Our mission is to chart a path for human civilization that – rather than causing greater misery – enables good lives on a healthy planet. We advocate and support a smaller, truly sustainable human population – through voluntary reduction in birth rates. We envision a world where no one suffers in dire poverty and misery for lack of enough food, water, and other basic needs. We see a world where all species thrive and where lower consumption and population are in balance with Earth’s finite resources. Within our mindfulness meditation practice, the piece that always receives primary billing is the PRACTICE itself. The effort of concentration or continually returning our mind to the object of focus - most often our breath. However, there is an equally important second aspect of the practice that we will focus on in this month's meditation series - detachment or letting go. Detachment is the act of releasing all the things we do while “practicing.” When we practice something we are trying to get better, aren't we? My son is taking spanish lessons and the expectation is he will get good-ish at speaking spanish one day. And, I know I don't have to tell you, the devil is in those expectations. So too with our meditation practice. We EXPECT to get ‘better' at meditating. We expect to * get calm* get quiet* get happy* feel better* see something* hear something* have some sort of mystical experience And without the tenant of ‘letting go' we can get ourselves in quite a tangle. Letting go is the act of disengaging with the normal ways we try to control and understand ourselves within any given moment. As human beings, we have a strong tendency to judge and form expectations for our experiences. We all do it! We EXPECT to get to work without traffic. We EXPECT to not have a flat tire. We EXPECT that our pen won't run out of ink. And when we live with these expectations, we set ourselves up for the acts of clinging and aversion. We cling to the idea that our pen SHOULD work. And we don't accept that our tire is flat when we're leaving for work in the morning. And in this clinging and aversion, uncomfortable and disturbing emotions arise. And we suffer. But we still have to get up and grab a new pen and we still have to fix our flat tire. Well, the practice of mindfulness - living in each present moment without the expectations arising from prejudgment - teaches us to ACCEPT the unwanted inconveniences in our lives and avoid - or at least reduce - whatever suffering they may cause. We still have to get a new pen, but when we do, we do so feeling good. I know this might sound strange to you. It did to me at first, too. But with a little bit of practice, these skills are very attainable! Questions? Let me know.
✔ Balance - Your website should not feel heavily weighted, it should feel even. This doesn’t happen when you have a heavy dark sidebar for instance, and nothing on the left side to offset. ✔ Repetition - The same types of elements repeated throughout the space take less mental energy from a prospect. You don’t want people going to different pages and experience a Jarring disconnect (the homepage looks great, but all the interior pages look like they’re from 1999. We EXPECT people to come in on other pages beside the home page, things like testimonials, call to actions, and other trust factors can be repeated around the site in a way that increases trust. ✔ Contrast - When there’s sharpness in images, brighter colors, and stronger difference between foreground and background your website benefits from “Contrast.” The most common problem I see is when people try to put an overlay over an image, but its not dark enough, they overlay text and it’s barely readable. Go dark, dark on backgrounds, or go light but don’t go in between if you’re going to overlay text. We’ve been getting around this by using organic shapes to cutout images, - just overlaying less text in general. Modern. 2020 design with white space. ✔ Dominance - A large element that draws you in, followed by clearly smaller elements – this drives engagement. Rather than having elements all be the same size which can be monotonous. ✔ Hierarchy - What is the eye drawn to first? Then what… then what. The clearer and more obvious the hierarchy, the more likely someone will be drawn in. No hierarchy = all the text is the same size, all the images are the same size, all the services are just as important on the page. Instead drive interest with - A beautiful smile, a bright headline, the company logo, and a contrasting color call to action button for instance may be best as your top items in the hierarchy. Two services that stand above the rest – one call to action prominent at the end of the page.
