In February 1842, a dingo unearthed a shallow grave near Ironstone Bridge, revealing the decomposing body of an Irish immiKearns Landregan was twenty-seven years old when he died on a dusty colonial road seven miles from Berrima. An Irish immigrant who'd traveled halfway around the world seeking opportunity in Australia, Landregan worked as a carrier—hard labor that required strength, reliability, and trust. On February 19th, 1842, he was driving his cart to market when he accepted what seemed like innocent companionship from a fellow traveler. He had no way of knowing that the man walking beside him had already murdered at least eight people. Among Lynch's victims was thirteen-year-old Mary Macnamara, a child who watched her entire family die before being assaulted and killed herself. There was Thomas Smith, a skilled plowman respected for his agricultural expertise. And there was an unnamed Aboriginal boy whose murder was barely recorded in colonial documents—a child whose name we'll never know but whose life mattered just as much. Why This Case MattersJohn Lynch's killing spree across colonial New South Wales exposed the brutal vulnerabilities of frontier justice and the systematic devaluation of certain lives in 1840s Australia. His 1836 acquittal for Thomas Smith's murder—despite clear evidence—taught him he could kill with impunity in a justice system stretched impossibly thin across vast wilderness. The case reveals how colonial authorities treated crimes differently based on victims' race and social status: a white child's murder shocked the colony, while an Aboriginal boy's death warranted barely a sentence in court records. The 2019 memorial plaque installed at All Saints Anglican Church in Sutton Forest represents a crucial shift toward victim-centered historical narrative, finally naming those whose stories were nearly lost to history.Content WarningThis episode contains descriptions of violence against children and references to sexual assault. Listener discretion advised.Key Case DetailsLynch's methodical approach to murder began after his 1836 acquittal emboldened him. Operating along isolated bush tracks in the Razorback Range, he targeted travelers with money or goods, striking them from behind with a tomahawk before stealing their possessions and assuming their identities.Timeline & Investigation:March 1836: Thomas Smith murdered at Oldbury Farm; Lynch tried and acquitted1836-1837: Multiple murders in Razorback Range (exact count unknown)November 1841: Mulligan family massacre (four victims including 13-year-old Mary)February 19, 1842: Kearns Landregan murdered near Ironstone BridgeFebruary 21, 1842: Lynch arrested after Landregan's body discovered by Hugh TinneyResolution: Chief Constable James Chapman's investigation connected Lynch to Landregan's distinctive felt hat, which Lynch had been wearing openly around Berrima. Excavation of the Mulligan property revealed four shallow graves. Lynch confessed to all murders during questioning, showing no remorse. He was tried, convicted of Landregan's murder, and hanged at Berrima Jail on April 22nd, 1842 at age 29.Historical Context & SourcesThis episode draws on colonial court records from the 1842 Supreme Court trial proceedings in Sydney, contemporary newspaper accounts from the Sydney Morning Herald, and historical research from the Berrima District Historical and Family History Society. The case documentation reveals the challenges of frontier policing in 1840s New South Wales, where vast distances and limited communication made coordinating murder investigations exceptionally difficult. Sergeant James Wilson's creation of a primitive geographic profile to track disappearances along the Berrima-Campbelltown Road represented early criminal investigative innovation. The 2019 memorial plaque commemorating Lynch's victims by name marks an important shift toward victim-centered historical narrative, particularly significant in finally acknowledging the unnamed Aboriginal child whose murder colonial authorities barely recorded.Foul Play CreditsFoul Play is hosted by Shane Waters and Wendy Cee. In this meditation, we were given the visual gift of a target, or bull's-eye, with the outside ring representing the water on the planet, the middle ring being the land masses and the inner ring being nature. We saw the scattering of the continents and were told that it was created by happenstance. We heard that the planet could have been created differently between the land masses and plate tectonics. We were then told that we humans were not created by happenstance. We are not separate from our creator and we were created with such love and purpose. We were reminded of the hymn his eye is on the sparrow… and I know he's watching me. We were shown that there is great angelic support for us no matter what journey we take in life. Teri saw three darts to go along with the bull's-eye theme. The first one represented us in concert working with others. The second one represented us by ourselves, and third, the last dart represented us in our walk with Spirit. Each dart was important and each dart was in motion at the same time. We were joined on this journey by archangels Gabriel and Jophial. What if your guides for the guided meditation had no idea where Spirit was going to be leading them? Joe Borowski didn't plan to become a concrete contractor—but the market had other ideas. In this episode, Ryan Deemer sits down with the owner of Hawthorne Excavating to talk about how pouring a single hot tub pad turned into 90% of his workload. Joe shares what it's like managing growth, staying hands-on, and slowly building a real business—not just a job.He also gets real about what it takes to keep standards high without burning out, how he's setting up two crews for future expansion, and why communication matters more than fancy equipment.Takeaways:✅ Joe got his start as a union operator at 18—but bought his first excavator instead of a new truck.✅ Concrete wasn't the plan, but customer demand made it impossible to ignore. Now it drives most of his revenue.✅ He's learned more from redoing jobs the right way than from the ones that go perfectly.✅ Joe is shifting from operator to leader, learning how to train, trust, and let others figure it out.✅ He's realizing time—not money—is the most valuable asset in business, and he's starting to build processes to reclaim it.Why It Matters:If you're in excavation or hardscaping, learning to offer concrete—or partner with someone who does—can unlock bigger, better-paying jobs and more referrals.Links:

People around the world are mourning the death of the supercentenarian -- who started his remarkable career as a runner in his eighties. Excavation begins at the site of one of Ireland's former mother-and-baby homes -- where hundreds of infants were buried in an unmarked grave. And our guest helped bring the truth to light. A data leak put thousands of Afghans at risk, including many who worked with British forces. But journalists weren't allowed to talk about a secret resettlement -- until today. Excavation work has begun this morning at the site of the former mother-and-baby home in Tuam, Co Galway. This all started 11 years ago with the work and determination of local historian Catherine Corless, after she found that there were no burial records for almost 800 babies and infants who died at the home over a 36-year period.

Lisa and I found ourselves talking about a frequently asked question in our communities: Won't thinking about my dark stuff make me worse? This is a typical fear of many people endeavoring TMS work. I have such empathy for the perceived quandary - it makes sense that paying attention to seemingly negative content might make it grow. Yet, we both know this is the opposite of truth. Then Lisa suggested a juxtaposition: let's consider the difference between rumination and excavation. Whereas rumination is automatic and unproductive, excavation is intentional and leads to healing. I took the challenge of explaining it through the lens of JournalSpeak, and here we are! I think this episode will enable you to challenge your resistance and open yourself to the incredible transformation that JournalSpeak offers. Lots of love from both of us! Work to allow for the excavation of a burial ground at the former Mother and Baby Home in Tuam will begin next Monday - the latest step in the ongoing effort to try and identify the remains of infants who died there between 1925 and 1961. Daniel McSweeney is the Director of Authorised Intervention Tuam; he tells us what will be happening...
In our meditation today, we were met by Divine Mother who joined us as we walked down the dusty streets of Egypt. Three of us were carrying vessels of water from the Nile. Divine Mother blessed the water and reminded us of the impact of our words. As we were infused with the Holy Spirit from drinking the water, we saw that we emanated golden Divine light. We were told that our bodies cannot contain the Holy Spirit. We saw that in the biblical days, there were people of influence who, without the benefit of the media, were not aware of each other. This lack of viral validation did not stop them from fully living their lives and doing what they were meant to do. We heard the term, "faith without validation,' and were reminded that we are asked to have faith the size of a mustard seed. This infinitestimal amount of faith will open the heavens to us. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be open. Can you find the faith within yourself to live your life's calling without necessarily requiring the validation of others? Please set the intention to receive then relax and enjoy!Enlightened World Network is your guide to inspirational online programs about the spiritual divinity, angels, energy work, chakras, past lives, or soul.
