Life should move on, said the Supreme Court almost 10 days back as it dismissed petitions to postpone the JEE Main and NEET UG entrance exams. But there's no end to demands from students and parents to not conduct the exams on the scheduled dates in September. Joining them now are politicians from across parties – from Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi to Mamata Banerjee and Uddhav Thackerey who want to approach India's top court again –– to postpone the exams. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual meeting with chief ministers of all states today. He discussed the plan for lift the ongoing nationwide lockdown that was put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. This is PM Modi’s fifth such meeting with the chief ministers since the outbreak emerged. PM Modi said initially his government's efforts were for everyone to stay where they were in the fight against coronavirus, but certain decisions had to be changed because it was "human nature" to want to go home. "Despite that, we have to make sure that the disease doesn’t spread and go to villages, that’s our big challenge,” he added, referring to the movement of migrants. Yesterday, government took a major step by resuming passenger train operations from tomorrow (May 12), nearly two months after the services were stopped due to the coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown. Bookings for 15 passenger trains that will run from tomorrow starts at 6pm today. Home Minister Amit Shah was also present in the meeting. He highlighted the importance of the Aarogya Setu mobile application and urged CMs to popularise it. Here's what did the chief ministers have to say in today's video conference with PM Modi Today, all Chief Ministers got to speak as some of them had complained that they were not allowed to put forth their views during the last interaction on April 27. Union Territories have been asked to give their views in writing. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was one of the first to speak. Andhra Pradesh CM Jaganmohan Reddy urged PM Modi to help the MSME sector, saying that there are nearly one hundred thousand MSME employees in Andhra Pradesh. If the Centre does not help, there will be a spike in unemployment in the state. The Andhra Pradesh CM sought a relaxation of lockdown measures, with strict adherence of personal hygiene protocols. "We need to prepare people to live with coronavirus till vaccine is ready, we have to create massive awareness to prevent transmit of the virus," said Andhra Pradesh Reddy. "We should have an exit plan from institutional quarantine... the fear and stigma should end. We have to remove the stigma, we need to convey that 95 per cent of the cases are curable," Reddy suggested, and urged the Centre to relax restrictions on interstate transport of goods in  the fight against Covid-19. "We have to work together to revive our economy," the Andhra Pradesh CM reiterated. Arunachal CM Pema Khandu said: "We got an opportunity to ramp up health infrastructure; North East CMs are working together as a team to combat Covid-19." Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi for TrueNat machines for quick COVID-19 testing as a large number of stranded people have begun returning to the northeastern state. Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswami urged the PM not to allow regular air services till the 31st of May. Because of the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the state, he didn't want train services to be permitted until 31st of May as well. Palanisamy urged the Centre to release a grant of Rs 2,000 crore to Tamil Nadu, and also requested the central government to clear pending GST dues to state. Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot urged Centre to allow inter-state supply chains to function properly. A moratorium on repayment of loans, along with the interest thereof, payable by Puducherry to the Centre should be announced, Health and tourism Minister Malladi Krishna Rao said on Monday. Gujarat CM Rupani sais: "The lockdown has helped contain Covid-19. We are using the Arogya Setu aap for surveillance and it has helped us immensely." Assam Government will soon put a new law in place that will fix accountability on teachers, said State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during the ongoing budget session of the state assembly. Replying to a query of West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Sarma said that the Teacher Accountability Commission (TAC) will be soon implemented in the state. The new law will make it mandatory for teachers to work in allotted districts for ten years failing which they will face labour imprisonment for 3 years. Doctors from Guwahati Medical College and Hospital will be required to give up private practice from Bohag Bihu. They will be provided salary and amenities which are at par with the doctors from AIIMS in Delhi, said Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at the Assembly. Sarma also said that he has asked the doctors to resign if they are interested in working at private places or nursing homes. “Now we are going to make a distinction between the government and private sectors,” he added. A Twitter spat ensued between BJP and Congress Party leaders. This time it is Biplab Kumar Deb, the Tripura Chief Minister who took a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after the latter made some remarks on PM Modi's announcement that he was thinking of giving up social media account. Deb tweeted, “So that's the reason Sonia Gandhi doesn't have any Social Media account?: to Gandhi's tweet “Give up hared, not social media accounts.” West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said during a public meeting that “those who have come from Bangladesh are citizens of India…they have got citizenship. You don't need to apply for citizenship again. You have been casting your votes in elections, electing PM and CM…now they are saying that you are not citizens…don't believe them.” She also added that no refugee living in the state will be deprived of Indian citizenship. “We do not want Bengal to turn into another Delhi or another Uttar Pradesh,” she further added. An Italian tourist who was visiting Rajasthan has tested positive for COVID-19. The patient is undergoing treatment at an isolation ward of the SMS Medical Hospital in Jaipur. After the incident was reported, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot summoned a meeting of top officials on Monday night. Six people in Agra have been kept under isolation at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi after “high-viral load” was detected in their samples. The six people are family members of the man from Delhi who tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. Their samples are being sent to NIV, Pune for further testing. The man from Delhi had a travel history to Italy which has been severely impacted due to coronavirus outbreak.The government is now carrying out contact tracing of people who came in touch with the patients through Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP). A 24/7 control room has also been set up to address this issue. PM Modi has said that there is no need to panic. So far 11 bodies have been recovered from drains of northeast Delhi, claim reports. It is suspected that the ones whose bodies have been recovered from the drain probably lost their lives during the violence in Delhi. According to latest media reports, 47 people have died so far in violence in Delhi.
