Amit Goswami, Ph.D. Professor, researcher, bestselling author, Quantum Science Pioneer, spiritual practitioner. Amit Goswami, PhD, is a retired professor from the physics department of the University of Oregon (1968 to 1997). He is a renowned pioneer of the new paradigm of quantum science based on the primacy of consciousness. In 2009, Amit started a movement called Quantum Activism, now gaining ground in North and South America (where he has founded Quantum Academy), Europe, and India. At the same time, he has established the Center for Quantum Activism (CQA) with headquarters in the USA. In 2019, he and his collaborators established an education wing of CQA called Quantum Activism Vishwalayam (Home of the World), acting as Department of Quantum Science at the University of Technology in Jaipur, India. They developed a Master program in Psychology, and also PhD programs in Psychology, Yoga and Naturopathy, Economics, Management, and Sociology. All these are based on principles of integration of science and spirituality that Amit has developed over the years. It is an international program of transformative education. Goswami has written several groundbreaking popular books based on research on quantum science and consciousness, amongst them, Quantum Integrative Medicine, Hero's Journey Quantum Style, The Quantum Brain, The Return of the Archetypes, Quantum Spirituality, and The Re-enchantment of the Reality You Live (all of these, with Valentina R. Onisor, MD), Quantum Psychology and the Science of Happiness (with Sunita Pattani, MS), The Self-Aware Universe, The Quantum Doctor, Physics of the Soul, Quantum Creativity, and The Everything Answer Book. His latest book, The Ascent of Humanity has just been released. Amit was featured in the movie What the Bleep Do We Know? and the documentaries The Dalai Lama Renaissance, The Quantum Activist. His most recent documentary was launched in 2024 in Brazil: The power of the subtle. He is a spiritual practitioner and calls himself a quantum activist in search of Wholeness.

SpiceJet Scare Mid-Air A SpiceJet Goa-to-Pune flight sparked safety concerns after an interior window frame came loose mid-air. A passenger posted a video of the dislodged panel on social media, questioning the aircraft's airworthiness. SpiceJet clarified it was a cosmetic issue, not impacting cabin pressure or safety. The aircraft, a Bombardier Q400, continued its journey to Jaipur after landing in Pune. However, the incident has reignited scrutiny over SpiceJet's maintenance standards, especially with visuals now circulating online. The DGCA has yet to comment. China's Fertiliser Curbs Hit India China's clampdown on fertiliser exports is squeezing global supplies—and India's feeling it hard. Imports of DAP, a key crop nutrient, have slowed significantly just as farmers begin sowing summer crops. Prices have shot up from $630 to over $800 per tonne, with importers now leaning on countries like Jordan. While government reports claim “adequate” stocks, June levels were 42% lower than last year. Farmers are shifting to alternative mixes, but the pressure on food security is real—and growing.  Microsoft's Biggest Layoff Since 2023 Microsoft is cutting over 9,100 jobs, about 4% of its workforce, in its biggest layoff round in two years. Quad Counters China's Mineral Might In a direct challenge to China's dominance in critical minerals, Quad members—the US, India, Japan, and Australia—have launched the Quad Critical Minerals Initiative. The goal: build secure, diversified supply chains for essential materials used in EVs, defense, and tech. “Reliance on any one country exposes us to coercion,” the group said, clearly referencing Beijing. India is stepping up with mineral talks during PM Modi's five-nation tour and its National Critical Mineral Mission. Experts say this is a bold geopolitical signal—but execution is key. Nykaa's Early Backers Exit Again Harindarpal and Indra Banga are selling a ₹1,200 crore stake in Nykaa via a block deal, offloading 2.1% at a 5.5% discount to the market price. The couple, among Nykaa's earliest investors, have been steadily reducing their holdings since last year. Despite the exit, Nykaa's stock is up nearly 29% this year. The company has delivered strong growth, tripling profits and expanding aggressively through physical stores and influencer partnerships. An Indian chef who opened a patisserie in Jaipur and a Syrian chef with two pastry shops in the heart of Paris tell Datshiane Navanayagam about adding new layers to French classics.After training at le Cordon Bleu school in Paris Tejasvi Chandela returned to her hometown of Jaipur to open Dzurt, the first pastry shop in the city. She also teaches masterclasses at cookery schools around the world to show to what extent the techniques and flavours of Indian mithai are compatible with modern European-style pastry.Myriam Sabet has two pastry shops in Paris. Originally from Syria Myriam's first career was in finance but she changed direction to baking after the birth of her daughter. She founded Maison Aleph with her husband where she focuses on crunchy pastry which reminds her of the sweets of her youth. A conversation about Indian design, style and approach to retail with Gabby Deeming founder of Daydress. A few years ago, I had a conversation with Taymoor Atigetchi, founder of Papier, about the impact of his Iranian roots on the way that he does business. That train of thought stayed with me and stayed with me to the point of preoccupation. And so now, here is the third in our series of interviews with entrepreneurs working in and influenced by a variety of countries and cultures. And so today, India. A work trip to India bought unexpected change to her professional path. A block print, a dress, a realisation, a revelation; Daydress was born. School headmasters have been asked to submit a list of their teachers' names, designations, subjects they teach, transfer histories, and confirmations that the names are in the “untainted” list.A wildfire in New Jersey has forced residents to evacuate the area and shut down a stretch of a major highway on Tuesday as the wildfire grew to more than 3,200 acres, officials said. One of the busiest highways in New Jersey, the Garden State Parkway, saw closures due to the spread of wildfire and the stretch between Barnegat and Lacey townships was closed and the traffic was diverted, Associated Press reported. According to New Jersey Forest Fire Service, over 3,000 residents have been evacuated from the area of the Jones Road Fire in Ocean County and about 1,320 structures remain threatened. Jantar Mantar, in Jaipur, India, is a fantasy land of science and architecture. Built in the 1700s, it houses about 20 astronomical instruments: beautiful arches, domes, and spires designed to plot the motions of the Sun and other objects. The observatory was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It was one of five observatories he built across northern India, in the 1720s and ’30s. All of them were known as Jantar Mantar – a name that means “calculating machine.” The Jaipur site was the largest and most important. It’s also the best preserved. Jantar Mantar’s instruments were all designed to observe the heavens with the eye alone. Several of those were for tracking the motions of the Sun. And some of them were the largest of their kind ever built. One sundial, for example, had a shadow-casting marker almost 75 feet tall. The instruments allowed the site’s 20 or so astronomers to determine the time with an accuracy of just two seconds. They also set the calendar. Other instruments tracked the positions of the stars and planets. That includes a set of a dozen identical instruments, each of which aligned to one of the constellations of the zodiac. That provided important observations for court astrologers. The site was in steady use until about 1800, and intermittent use after that. It underwent several upgrades and restorations.
