There are little more than three weeks to go until The 2025 Brewers Congress and Brewers Choice Awards. One company nominated in this year's awards is the fantastic Thornbridge. So what better time for us to revisit our interview with co-founder Simon Webster from earlier this year. There are certain joys, certain constants when it comes to the world of beer. And one of those has to be the pleasure when scanning the bar for a pint and you happen across the pump clip for Jaipur on cask.It's a seminal beer that has stood the test of time and this year the brewery responsible, Thornbridge, based in the Derbyshire Dales, celebrates the 20th anniversary of both that beer and the business, too.The Thornbridge story began back in 2005 when founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers to brew on a second hand 10-barrel kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall.A journey that began in the small Stonemasons Workshop at Thornbridge Hall is one that has gone on to grow into the Riverside Brewery in Bakewell where the team produce some nine million pints of beer each year.Like any good business, the brewery has moved with the times. While Jaipur remains the flagship, its gluten-free Helles Lukas and Green Mountain, a 4.3% Hazy Session IPA, also account for a significant amount of the brewery's production.Thanks to a brewing team led by Ben Wood, Dominic Driscoll and Rob Lovatt, they create beers that cater for a wide and diverse audience.So as the celebrated brewery comes toward the end on a year that toasts two decades in business, we caught up with co-founder Simon Webster to discuss the Thornbridge journey. We look at the recent fantastic new addition of a Burton Union set, why collaborations continue to play a key part in the brewery's proposition and, with new pub openings on the horizon, why Simon believes that such environments remain the best choice when it comes to enjoying a beer.

In this world, you may have a complicated life. You may think yourself unqualified. Don't worry. If you follow in the footsteps of the sages, you'll be successful. "Tvat-pāda-potena mahat-kṛtena," means if you follow the process given by the greats, then you'll be boarding a boat. In this verse, it says that the ocean of complexity, which is this material world, shrinks for those who have the process. How small ? Size of the hoof print of a calf, and then one can easily step over it. And in the next verse, Brahma goes on and describes how that becomes a boat where we can cross the material ocean but when you approach the boat, the ocean shrinks. And Prabhupāda explains in the purport how we're part of what's called the Ācārya-sampradāya. When we come to an ISKCON temple, we find that Prabhupāda is prominently seated there. That's lucky for us. If you go to see Rādhā-Govinda in Jaipur for mangala-ārti, no doubt, one of the most ecstatic experiences in the world when you go to see Rādhā-Govinda, but you won't find a prominently seated Ācārya somewhere. If you go to the temples of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura in Māyāpur, his flagship temple, you'll find all the Ācāryas. In fact, they're situated in a circle around Gandharvikā Giridhārī, and you can go see each one where their origin is. Each one comes from a divine origin passed down to other mahats, other greats. And he emphasized that, as do all the Ācāryas, and as does Kṛṣṇa Himself, "ācāryaṁ māṁ vijānīyān navamanyeta karhicit." One should respect the Ācārya-sampradāya, Kṛṣṇa says. "Don't consider that they're ordinary people. Consider that you should sit there the sum total, better than all the demigods put together, and not ordinary." So we have this clear object of meditation. We also have a clear path that one may follow to walk in the footsteps of the Ācāryas. Every single day, I would train them on how to write better. But what they were writing about was actually tough issues. Gender, discrimination, climate change, issues that we are not taught to talk about. And something slowly began to shift in them. The more they wrote, the more they began to question. They started acting. They started wondering why things were the way they were. There was absolutely no clean drinking water. There were no proper roads. There was no electricity. And he realized that there were no schools at all. And no weddings had taken place in the last 22 years because nobody wanted to send their daughters to a village which was so impoverished. लाल गुड़िया   In 2012, a couple in Jaipur bought an old, dilapidated mansion and a red doll from the market, with the seller assuring the doll would protect them. On the first night, the doll's black eyes moved and a broken voice warned, 'We... are... coming.' The previous owner's son mysteriously vanished and was never found. Strange events unfolded: footsteps under the bed, the doll smiling eerily in corners, and blood-like handprints with no origin. Police found no evidence, but the couple saw the handprint in their bedroom mirror. They tried to discard the doll, but it would reappear. The doll whispered threats and cursed them, and the couple disappeared, leaving only a photo of the doll in their hands and a red shadow every year on the mansion window. Amit Goswami, Ph.D. Professor, researcher, bestselling author, Quantum Science Pioneer, spiritual practitioner. Amit Goswami, PhD, is a retired professor from the physics department of the University of Oregon (1968 to 1997). He is a renowned pioneer of the new paradigm of quantum science based on the primacy of consciousness. An Indian chef who opened a patisserie in Jaipur and a Syrian chef with two pastry shops in the heart of Paris tell Datshiane Navanayagam about adding new layers to French classics.After training at le Cordon Bleu school in Paris Tejasvi Chandela returned to her hometown of Jaipur to open Dzurt, the first pastry shop in the city. She also teaches masterclasses at cookery schools around the world to show to what extent the techniques and flavours of Indian mithai are compatible with modern European-style pastry.Myriam Sabet has two pastry shops in Paris. Originally from Syria Myriam's first career was in finance but she changed direction to baking after the birth of her daughter. She founded Maison Aleph with her husband where she focuses on crunchy pastry which reminds her of the sweets of her youth. Markets can take many forms: Static Markets: Where a set of items is always available, and players choose from it. Dynamic Markets: Prices might change based on supply and demand. Rotating Markets: Items might enter and exit the market over time, creating a flow of new opportunities. "I-Cut-You-Choose" Style Markets: While sometimes a separate mechanic, some games blend this, where one player sets up a market or splits resources, and another player chooses first. We discussed how open drafting games are very closely related to market games, but ultimately, the Market mechanic adds layers of tactical decision-making, player interaction, and often, an exciting push-your-luck element.  It's about optimizing your purchases, anticipating others' moves, and adapting to the ever-changing landscape of available options. Now, a district-wise list of “untainted” teachers of Classes IX-X and XI-XII has reached the offices of District Inspectors (DIs) of schools. A verification process has begun. The SC had found that the 2016 recruitment process by the SSC was “tainted”. School headmasters have been asked to submit a list of their teachers' names, designations, subjects they teach, transfer histories, and confirmations that the names are in the “untainted” list.A wildfire in New Jersey has forced residents to evacuate the area and shut down a stretch of a major highway on Tuesday as the wildfire grew to more than 3,200 acres, officials said. One of the busiest highways in New Jersey, the Garden State Parkway, saw closures due to the spread of wildfire and the stretch between Barnegat and Lacey townships was closed and the traffic was diverted, Associated Press reported. According to New Jersey Forest Fire Service, over 3,000 residents have been evacuated from the area of the Jones Road Fire in Ocean County and about 1,320 structures remain threatened. The fire service added that 5% of the wildfire has been contained till now.

Jantar Mantar, in Jaipur, India, is a fantasy land of science and architecture. Built in the 1700s, it houses about 20 astronomical instruments: beautiful arches, domes, and spires designed to plot the motions of the Sun and other objects. The observatory was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It was one of five observatories he built across northern India, in the 1720s and ’30s. All of them were known as Jantar Mantar – a name that means “calculating machine.” The Jaipur site was the largest and most important. It’s also the best preserved. Jantar Mantar’s instruments were all designed to observe the heavens with the eye alone. Several of those were for tracking the motions of the Sun. And some of them were the largest of their kind ever built. One sundial, for example, had a shadow-casting marker almost 75 feet tall. The instruments allowed the site’s 20 or so astronomers to determine the time with an accuracy of just two seconds. They also set the calendar. Other instruments tracked the positions of the stars and planets. That includes a set of a dozen identical instruments, each of which aligned to one of the constellations of the zodiac. That provided important observations for court astrologers. The site was in steady use until about 1800, and intermittent use after that. It underwent several upgrades and restorations.
