1985: Rajiv Gandhi says 15 paise of every rupee actually reaches the poor. 2009: Rahul Gandhi puts the number at 5%. Twenty-four years apart, same party, and by their own accounting the leak had got worse. That pair of numbers is where this conversation lands in its final minutes, and Tuhin A. Sinha uses it to make a much larger argument: that the question of who is anti-youth in Indian politics has a fairly specific answer, and it isn't the one the Opposition has been giving. Roshan Cariappa sits down with Tuhin - BJP National Spokesperson and author of 14 books - days before a Monsoon Session that Tuhin calls the most consequential in a very long time. Two bills are on the table: delimitation and women's reservation. His case for why delimitation is the youth story nobody is telling: the last exercise was in 1975. India now has roughly 97 crore voters and 543 Lok Sabha seats, which means each MP represents about 17 lakh people - the highest ratio anywhere in the world. Raise the seat count by 50% and that falls to around 11 lakh. But the number Tuhin cares about is the other one: hundreds of new constituencies means hundreds of openings for people who do not come from political families. Which is precisely, he argues, why the dynastic parties are petrified of it. Roshan also asks the question currently nation wants to know - the mistrust around engineered defections, the ED and CBI asymmetry, the "washing machine" charge, whether the BJP can still call itself a party with a difference while absorbing MPs it once called corrupt, and whether all of this is legal in letter but hollow in spirit. Tuhin's answers are direct, and on the corruption question notably unsqueamish: sometimes to achieve a good objective, you take a path that isn't impeccable. Also in here: why the two bills are deliberately being moved together, how 74 women MPs could become 273 seats, why the April bill fell 54 votes short, Amit Shah's one-hour challenge across the floor of the House, the North-South penalty argument, Vajpayee's 1996 resignation speech, and what 2029 actually gets fought on. Whether you find him persuasive or want to argue with every second answer, it's a sharper 41 minutes than a TV panel gives you in a month. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS (00:00) - Reconnecting (00:35) - Why this Monsoon Session is the most consequential in years (01:08) - Delimitation explained: 1975, 97 crore voters, 17 lakh per MP (02:27) - "A once-in-a-lifetime opening for youth who aren't from political families" (03:13) - Why delimitation and women's reservation are being moved together (04:45) - Falling 54 votes short in April, and what has changed since (06:24) - Amit Shah's one-hour challenge across the floor (07:11) - Why dynastic parties fear a bigger, younger Lok Sabha (08:54) - The North-South question: are southern states being penalised? (10:33) - Women's representation: from 74 MPs to 273 seats (13:55) - Roshan steelmans the Opposition: the defections problem (17:54) - The "washing machine" charge, and Tuhin's reversal of it (18:38) - "Is the BJP still a party with a difference?" (22:44) - The anti-defection law: conscience vs. the whip (26:28) - Congress Mukt Bharat, or Opposition Mukt Bharat? (27:37) - Why the INDIA bloc's 2024 momentum evaporated (30:15) - Rahul Gandhi, Putin, Macron and the Rafale claim (35:26) - What 2029 gets fought on (39:38) - The number this episode ends on: 15% in 1985, 5% in 2009

Schmit, Of Counsel with B&C and Senior Regulatory Consultant with Acta, about the ever-tricky topic of confidential business information (CBI) -- what is it, how to protect it, and steps to take to avoid losing it. As listeners may know, the protection afforded certain information claimed CBI begins to sunset today, June 22, 2026, because of changes to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) signed into law ten years ago today with enactment of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act. Certain claims need to be substantiated to continue being shielded from public disclosure. Our discussion today focuses on this change in the law, how the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has operationalized the substantiation process, and what TSCA stakeholders need to know to preserve their CBI claims if they wish to extend protection for another ten years. Our guest today is the journalist Anirudhya Mitra. In May 1991, when a former Prime Minister of India was assassinated at Sriperumbudur, Mitra was a young reporter who had joined India Today magazine barely a month earlier. Over the next ninety days, he covered the hunt for Rajiv Gandhi's killers from closer than almost any other journalist in the country — his investigative stories became known as the "inside story" of the assassination. That reporting also made him a target: he was followed, threatened, and publicly branded a CBI agent by both the DMK and the LTTE chief Prabhakaran himself. For thirty years he carried facts he could not put in print. In 2022, he finally wrote them down — in the book that is the subject of today's conversation, Ninety Days: The True Story of the Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi's Assassins.

On Friday, December 1st, 2017, seventeen year old Maggie Long finished up her day at school and drove home to pick up refreshments for a concert that night.  She never returned.  Hours later, firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded to a call about intruders and a fire at her family home.  There, in the scorched husk of the home, they found Maggie's body.Maggie was a beacon in her community, a brilliant and kind young woman who dedicated her life to helping others and doing everything she could to make the world a better place.  Investigators theorized she stumbled upon a robbery in progress and was killed as a result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.Evidence showed the intruders, numbering between 3 and 4, stole a large safe from the house which contained firearms, ammunition and jade figures.  Neither the stolen items nor the safe has ever been found.  Composite images of suspects have been released, but whether or not they are reliable has been debated by current law enforcement.Suspect Composite ImagesUse promo code "Trace" to save 10% on your pass at CrimeCon.comFollowTEPod.comFollow Trace Evidence on Social MediaTwitter --- Instagram --- TikTok --- YouTube --- Like Facebook Page --- Join Facebook Group --- Threads --- Like MeWe Page --- Join MeWe Group --- BlueskySuppport Trace EvidencePatreon --- Paypal --- Cash App --- Buy Me A CoffeeTrace Evidence Merch ShopsTeePublic --- ShopTEPod --- SpreadshopAll Other LinksOfficial Trace Evidence Website --- LinkTreeMusic Courtesy of:"Lost Time"  Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"Echoes of Time" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"Galactic Rap" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/#truecrimepodcast #unsolvedmysteries #coldcase #coldcaseinvestigation #murder #murdermystery #missingperson #missingpersons #truecrimecommunity #mysterypodcast #truecrime #coldcasefiles #truecrimestories #crimelovers #truecrimeaddict #truecrimejunkie #crimescene #justiceforall #missing #crimesquad #podcastcommunity #sleuthsunite #darkhistories #criminalmindset #detective #detectivediaries #forensics #forensicfiles #crimestories #crimepodcast #traceevidence #traceevidencepodcast #criminalinvestigation #justiceforvictims #detectivework #truecrimediscussion #podcastfamily #listenandsolve #crimefans #listentotraceevidence #uncoverthetruth #podcastrecommendations #podcastlove #podcastlife #truecrimeobsessed #followtheclues #cluefinders #podcastaddict #unsolvedmurders #unsolveddisappearances #detectiveatheart #jointheinvestigation #disappearance #vanishing #abduction #gonemissing #upandvanished #pacheco #stevenpacheco #podcasting #crimetalk #crimeanalysis #theories #maggielong #long #baileycolorado #taskforce #maggielongtaskforce #sanlong #heatherlong #connielong #unsolved #cbi #fbi #atfSourcesBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/trace-evidence--3207798/support.
