What if one of the world's most respected tech companies, selling in over 180 countries, with 25 offices across the globe, wasn't built in Silicon Valley or Bangalore, but from a small village in Tamil Nadu called Tenkasi? In this episode of Raw Talks with VK, we sit down with Mr. Raju Vegesna, the Chief Evangelist at Zoho Corporation, for a deeply honest, philosophical, and powerful conversation in Telugu. This is not just a startup success story; it's a blueprint for building with integrity, vision, and an unshakable connection to roots.Raju takes us through his personal journey and his connection with CBN (Chandrababu Naidu), including the viral tweet after Chandra Babu Naidu's arrest. He shares how he first met Sridhar Vembu, Zoho's founder, and how that meeting shaped a decades-long partnership based on values, simplicity, and service to the country. He talks about how Zoho made the bold decision to stay bootstrapped, carry zero debt, and invest in long-term thinking instead of chasing short-term valuations. We discuss how Zoho, unlike many other companies, built its offices in rural areas like Renigunta, with the belief that villages don't need to be emptied to build cities, and that innovation doesn't have a pin code. From losing 400 clients to rejecting an acquisition offer from Salesforce, Raju walks us through the philosophy that helped Zoho survive and thrive. He breaks down the purpose behind Zoho Schools, where dropouts and underprivileged youth like, security guard Abdul Alif, are trained to become full-fledged software engineers. He explains why they don't provide degrees, only skills, and why many graduates today ask if they too can join this alternative education model. We dive into how culture acts like the "character of a company," why they avoid traditional corporate structure, and how they've managed to operate without ever doing layoffs. Raju opens up about how design, interior choices, and even sofa arrangements affect team dynamics and why they design everything in-house to nurture culture. He also touches on Zoho's product journey from launching Zoho Writer before Google Docs, to making Zoho Mail one of the top 3 email platforms globally, to building a CRM that now sees large-scale migrations from other platforms. This conversation also takes a wider lens on India's startup ecosystem. Raju shares his views on entrepreneurship and patriotism, India's engineering graduate crisis, and the philosophical mindset shift we need to stop waiting for Western validation. We discuss how AI and robotics are not just tech trends but tools for digital and national sovereignty, and how real disruption is only beginning. He compares the state of Tier 1 Indian cities with Tier 3 cities in the U.S., and asks the question: can we build from here and still lead the world? With memorable stories like the early Ameerpet startup days, co-founder disagreements, and incidents where clients once rejected them harshly, this episode offers a full-spectrum view of the mindset and mission behind one of India's most inspiring companies. For aspiring entrepreneurs, tech dreamers, and anyone who believes in building with purpose, this episode isn't just a conversation, it's a call to action. If you've ever wondered whether it's possible to build a global company out of a village, this might be for you. Whether you're dreaming of staying bootstrapped, creating real impact, or building from Bharat, this story is proof that it can be done.
In this inspiring episode of India FinTech Diaries, we sit down with Shweta Pandey, co-founder and CEO of ARTH, to explore how inclusive fintech is being built—one village, one woman entrepreneur at a time.ARTH isn't just a lender; it's a phygital platform blending digital convenience with on-ground trust, designed specifically to support women-led nano and micro businesses across India. Shweta shares deep insights into the unique design principles behind ARTH's credit products, the structural bias in lending, and how credit must be paired with capacity building and empathy—especially in Bharat's context.Key Highlights:
Welcome to Top of the Morning by Mint.. I'm Nelson John and here are today's top stories. 25 Crore Workers Strike: Bharat Bandh Takes Centre Stage India is witnessing one of its biggest labour uprisings. On Wednesday, over 25 crore workers across banking, insurance, coal, postal, and transport sectors are expected to join a nationwide strike—Bharat Bandh—led by 10 central trade unions. The unions are protesting what they call the Modi government's “anti-worker, anti-farmer, pro-corporate” policies. The flashpoint? The four new labour codes, which unions say erode workers' rights, extend working hours, weaken collective bargaining, and decriminalize violations by employers. Farmers' unions, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha, are also backing the strike. “This isn't just about wages,” said Harbhajan Singh Sidhu of Hind Mazdoor Sabha. “It's a fight for the soul of India's workforce.” China Fumes Over Modi's Dalai Lama Wish A SEBI study has revealed a brutal truth—91% of retail traders in equity derivatives lost money in FY2025, with net losses ballooning to ₹1.05 lakh crore, up 41% from the previous year. Retail participation in F&O also dropped 20% year-on-year, reflecting rising disillusionment. Despite some pullback in volumes, India still sees intense activity in index options. The data comes as SEBI tightens its oversight of the derivatives market, with new risk-monitoring and transparency norms introduced this year. “The house still wins,” the study suggests, “and most traders are paying—not playing—the market.” Trump Tariff Tsunami Hits Asia—India Spared, For Now China has issued a formal protest to India after PM Narendra Modi wished the Dalai Lama on his 90th birthday and Union ministers attended celebrations in Dharamshala. Beijing labelled the Tibetan leader a “separatist” and accused India of violating past commitments on Tibet, which it refers to as “Xizang.” Chinese officials also reignited the reincarnation debate, asserting that the centuries-old process is under Chinese jurisdiction—not the Dalai Lama's. India maintained that it doesn't comment on religious matters and supports freedom of belief. The Dalai Lama, meanwhile, declared his reincarnation will be decided outside China, reinforcing the deep spiritual-political divide between the neighbours. Trump Nominated for Nobel After Iran Strikes President Donald Trump has announced steep new tariffs—up to 40%—on imports from 15 countries, including key Asian economies like Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, and South Korea. But India is notably exempt, amid pending talks on a bilateral trade agreement. Trump says the move is part of his Reciprocal Tariff Policy to counter “unfair trade barriers.” Laos and Myanmar face the steepest duties (40%), while Japan and South Korea are hit with 25%. India's absence from the list gives it a temporary export edge in sectors like textiles, toys, and electronics. “Indian products may gain a pricing edge,” said FIEO's Ajay Sahai. But with a July 9 deadline for the tariff pause and the trade deal still unsigned, India's free pass may not last long. In a high-stakes moment of international optics, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize—just two weeks after the U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear sites. Netanyahu called it a “historic victory” and praised Trump's Middle East strategy. Trump, meanwhile, revealed Iran has approached the U.S. for talks and compared the bombings to the atomic strikes on Japan in World War II. Trump also claimed Hamas is now seeking a ceasefire in Gaza and floated the idea of Palestinian relocation. He sidestepped a two-state solution question, deferring to Netanyahu, who said peace is possible only with Palestinian neighbours who “don't want to destroy Israel.” With Assad gone in Syria, Netanyahu believes new alliances can be forged in the region. Peace talk, power plays, and posturing—it's diplomacy, Trump-style. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

It is a company that's on the verge of something big. Stage is an OTT company that, in Singhal's words, offers premium, sensible content in three cultures. Yes, cultures, not languages—Haryanvi, Bhojpuri, and Rajasthani. At a time when OTT platforms and consumer content companies are figuring out how to make their business work, Stage is an outlier. It has 4.2 million subscribers and nearly 150 crores in revenue. Stage has also figured out a way to do this sustainably by reducing its burn by nearly 70% from last year to this year.In today's episode, Vinay tells the story of how Stage was created, how he built a company and lost it overnight, and how he then re-emerged from it by doing the exact opposite of all the things that brought him success earlier. He switched from advertising to subscriptions, from going for international markets to local markets and from depending on platforms like Facebook to direct distribution. To do this, he did not just have to build a company; he had to build entire movie industries. Stage is a story you must listen to if you want to understand how entrepreneurs and founders are building companies for Bharat in ways most of us cannot understand or even imagine. In this episode of Two by Two, hosts Rohin Dharmakumar and Praveen Gopal Krishnan are in discussion with Vinay Singhal, CEO and co-founder of Stage.–This episode of Two by Two was produced by Hari Krishna. 14th May 2025 In this Satsang, Bharat shared a poem he wrote about his understanding of awareness, which he interpreted as a metaphor for the human journey. The poem described two horses, one representing the ego and the other pure awareness. The turning point came when the ego disappeared, revealing that there was only one awareness all along. The poem's message was about finding true peace by breaking free from the illusion of duality. Sanjay also discussed the journey of self-realization and finding inner peace through awareness and detachment from ego-driven desires. He discussed the importance of solitude, silence, and constant practice in accessing one's divine inner self and breaking free from the illusion of duality. They emphasized that true happiness and liberation from suffering come from identifying with one's true self beyond the mind, body, and emotions, and encouraged daily practice and contemplation to achieve this state of awareness. These are teachings and pointers from ongoing NDA(Non-duality awareness)/Advaitic Satsangs held at Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi Centre in Melbourne, Australia. How do decades of spiritual practice shape your heart when death comes knocking? In this powerful episode, we hear from our longtime friend Yasso who, after forty years of devotion, is now facing terminal illness with stunning clarity and peace. What makes this conversation especially moving is how Yasso's fearless, attitude of gratitude so closely mirrors the timeless wisdom of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, where the dying King Parīkṣit embraces his final days with devotion, humility, and total absorption in the divine. Also in this episode: the epic homecoming of Lord Ram and the tear-jerking reunion with his brother Bharat, whose 14 years of radical simplicity (cow urine barley, anyone?) reflect the deepest brotherly devotion—zero envy, all love. And we also explore how devotional art can lift consciousness, using a vivid verse from the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam as our canvas. This one goes deep—real life, real death, and real bhakti. This is the Catch Up on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I am Ichha SHarmaIt is the 23rd of April and here are today's headlines.Expressing anguish over the Pahalgam terror attack that killed at least 26 people, Union Minister Amit Shah on X said, quote “Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits of this dastardly terror attack will not be spared. With a heavy heart, pay last respects to the deceased.” unquote. Shah also met the survivors and assured them that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be brought to justice. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir government announced Rs 10 lakh ex gratia for each deceased's family; Rs 2 lakh for the seriously injured and Rs 1 lakh for injured victims. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to hold a key meeting with the Cabinet Committee on Security in the first half of the day, wherein India will formulate its response and defence strategy.Meanwhile, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khwaja Asif claimed today that they have nothing to do with the incident in which at least 25 tourists were killed and several others were injured. Indian officials, however, are not convinced by Pakistan's denial since the initial probe has suggested the presence of foreigners as part of the group of militants who opened fire at the civilians. At least 25 tourists and a Valley resident were shot dead Tuesday at a meadow near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir in the deadliest terror attack on civilians in the country since the Mumbai 26/11 shootings. Asif told a Pakistan TV channel about the Pahalgam attack. “We have absolutely nothing to do with it. We reject terrorism in all its forms and everywhere.” The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation last week demolished most of the Digambar Jain temple in Vile Parle in the city's western suburbs, triggering outrage and protests among members of the community, as well as politicians across parties. Under pressure, the civic administration transferred the assistant municipal commissioner in charge of the BMC's K/East ward office, which had carried out the demolition. Civic and court records accessed and evaluated by The Indian Express show that the first notice for demolishing the allegedly illegal structure was issued to the temple trust back in 2005. Since then, the BMC made nine attempts to raze the alleged illegal structure – and finally carried out the action on April 16.Amid its ongoing crusade against drugs, Punjab has become the first state in the country to ban energy drinks in and around schools to keep the children away from caffeine addiction. A notification to this effect was issued by the government on Tuesday, banning the sale of energy drinks in school canteens and outside school premises. The notification, issued by Dilraj Singh Sandhawalia, Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Punjab, states that it is “just and necessary” to prohibit the consumption of caffeinated energy drinks by children. The notification says that energy drinks are heavily marketed to children and young adults and others and manufacturers compare the effects of the drinks to the use of drugs like cocaine.A wildfire in New Jersey has forced residents to evacuate the area and shut down a stretch of a major highway on Tuesday as the wildfire grew to more than 3,200 acres, officials said. One of the busiest highways in New Jersey, the Garden State Parkway, saw closures due to the spread of wildfire and the stretch between Barnegat and Lacey townships was closed and the traffic was diverted, Associated Press reported. According to New Jersey Forest Fire Service, over 3,000 residents have been evacuated from the area of the Jones Road Fire in Ocean County and about 1,320 structures remain threatened. The fire service added that 5% of the wildfire has been contained till now. This was the Catch Up on 3 Things by The dian Express
Key Highlights: * A rare window into how a bhakti yogi prepares to leave this world * Lord Ram returns to Ayodhya—no one has ever waved a chadar with more love * No envy, no ego—just love: the bond between Ram and Bharat * Why Krishna art > overpriced splatter art * Chant Hare Krishna and don't criticize.
