EPISODE 136 | Incel-ation Some say there's a crisis of masculinity, or maybe it's just that there's still a lot of misogyny in our culture. Whatever the causes, one thing is clear – there are some young men out there who have difficulty interacting with women while also buying into the narrative that sex and female attention is somehow their right. Özgür Bayram Soylu- NEET'tik biz: Diplomalı işsizler by Yeni Şafak
Send us a textAnother day another newspaper headline that says young people aren't working.According to the Financial Times newspaper, 13.4 per cent of people in the United Kingdon in the 16 to 24 age group were not in employment education or training - “NEET” - at the end of last year. The ONS figures showed a higher rate of young men outside work or training, with 14.4 per cent of 16- to 24-year-olds classed as NEET compared with 12.3 per cent of young women. and mental health issues seem to be a rising factor. This podcast is all about helping parents see a way through the maze of problems, rather than dwelling in it, so in this episode I decided to put the figures in context and look at what we parents can do to ensure our kids a way to play a meaningful role in society.PWC Report:https://www.pwc.co.uk/economic-services/assets/youth-employment-index-2024.pdfThe World Economic Forum - Future of Jobs Report 2025What employers consider to be core skills for the workforce:1: Analytical thinking2: Resilience, flexibility and agility3: Leadership and social influence4: Creative thinking5: Motivation and self-awareness6: Technological literacy7: Empathy8: Active listeningSupport the showThank you so much for your support. This week we very tentatively clambered on top of our desks to bellow ‘Oh Captain, my Captain' to the most inspirational educator in advertising, Ally Owen. The brains behind one ad-lands most invaluable teaching programmes, Brixton Finishing School, Ally has done more than literally anyone to help young, multicultural and neurodiverse creatives find a way into advertising – kickstarting hundreds and hundreds of creative careers, while most big agencies were sat fiddling with the font on their DEI policy PowerPoints. For most people, transforming all those lives would have been enough – but Ally has also gone on to launch ADcademy, a free virtual programme that provides 2,500 students a year with top-class creative training. Ally is also one of the brains behind Visible Start, an incredible program designed to help women over 45 to re-enter the workforce. So, in a nutshell, just imagine what a huge stinky poo-fire the creative industries would be without her. In this episode we ponder everything from the real value of diversity and inclusion in all kinds of business, the financial and emotional hurdles she helps young creatives navigate at Brixton and how a Friday-night shift at Portsmouth McDonald's gave her the skills of a UN negotiator. ///// Follow Ally on LinkedIn Visit the Brixton Finishing School website or follow them on Instagram Head to Career Adventures where tomorrow's creatives are being inspired ///// Timestamps (04:10) - From Selling Shoes to McDonald's: The Early Gigs (06:49) - The Skills of a UN negotiator: Friday night in McDonald's Portsmouth (09:23) - The Great Escape to University (10:56) - From Pharaohs to Advertising and the House of Stolen Things (13:39) - Pure Luck or Destiny, The Path to Advertising? Late last month, the Supreme Court made a very strong statement about NRI quotas at medical colleges. It essentially said that the whole thing was a fraud. But the thing is, since the Supreme Court called it out, the practice has only gotten murkier. So The Ken reporter Alifiya Khan conducted an investigation. She scoured several social networking sites only to find countless posts promising seats in medical institutes to aspirants who scored way below the required cutoff and even those who were hardly eligible for the NRI quota. The only requirement? Well, applicants need to be ready to cough up some big bucks. The Ken wanted to see if there was something to these claims. So Alifiya went undercover. She posed as the sibling of a Maharashtra-based MBBS aspirant, with a measly NEET score of 180. She then contacted four education consultancies. And all of them, quite unsurprisingly, had boilerplate replies. The running thread – regardless of your score, they would hook you up with a medical college. And yet, most people high up in medical colleges don't want to let go of NRI quota. Because in many ways it is what keeps the whole system afloat. What's going on? Stay tuned.
Man on lunchbreak breaks down and begins talking to himself and referring to himself in third person" yes spending another 40 dollars will fix me i know it"
Many private medical colleges, run by politicians, would invariably wish for the NEET exam to be abolished and for a return to the old system where they could earn huge amounts of money.

This is the Catchup on 3 Things by The Indian Express and I'm Flora Swain.Today's the 29th of July and here are the headlines. The Delhi Police have arrested five more people in connection with the flooding of the basement of Rau's IAS Study Centre, including the driver of a vehicle who purportedly waded through the waterlogged road and contributed to breaking the gates of the coaching centre where three UPSC aspirants died. The owners of the basement are among the five arrested people, including the coaching centre's CEO, Abhishek Gupta, and coordinator, Deshpal Singh. All the five accused are expected to be produced in court on Monday.Days after three UPSC aspirants died when the basement of their coaching centre flooded in the National Capital, Rajya Sabha chairman allowed a short-term discussion on the matter after the question hour. While the chair did not agree to suspend the proceedings on the House for the discussion, members of the opposition applauded that the chair allowed for the discussion under another rule, adding that they hoped their request for similar discussions on NEET paper leak and Manipur violence will also be allowed.Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at the Union Budget of 2024-25 on Monday, calling it a ‘chakravyuh' created by the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress leader said the ‘chakravyuh' that has captured India has three forces — the idea of monopoly capital and concentration of financial power; institutions and agencies such as the CBI, ED and IT department; and the political executive. Gandhi's reference was to the Mahabharat, according to which Abhimanyu was killed in a ‘chakravyuh' — a multi-tiered maze and formation — in which he was trapped. He further said the chakravyuh looks like a lotus (the BJP symbol).Days after some students from Nirmala College in Kerala's Muvattupuzha held protests demanding that they be allotted a room at the college to offer namaz, a prominent body of Islamic scholars have asked the students to desist from making such demands that could “create hatred” Dakshina Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary Muhammed Thoufeeq Moulavi called the controversy “unfortunate”. Last Friday, a group of girls at Nirmala College in Muvattupuzha held protests demanding a room to offer their prayers but the college management had turned them down saying they were “free” to offer namaz at a mosque some 200 metres away. Significantly, the college is run by the Catholic Church.A passenger train carrying about 800 parrengers collided with a Kamaz truck, killing at least two and injuring up to 100 people on Monday, Russian media outlets reported, according to Reuters. As per the report, eight carriages were derailed, some of the carriages lay twisted and battered beside the railway track, they said. The train had been travelling from Kazan in Tatarstan to Adler on the Black Sea when it derailed in the southern Volgograd region near the Kotelnikovo station about 1,200 km (750 miles) south of Moscow, the emergencies ministry said. This was the Catchup on 3 Things on The Indian Express.
