Methane is often overlooked in the climate change discourse, as against carbon. Methane is over 80 times more potent at trapping heat in the atmosphere over a 20-year period. Released from sources like livestock, landfills, and leaky oil and gas infrastructure, methane is a tricky problem to solve. In this episode we understand what methane emissions are and how to plug them. Cutting methane emissions can be one the fastest ways to slow global warming. For this relevant issue, we talked with Hisham Mundol, Chief Advisor in India to the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). Mundol is a seasoned development sector executive with experience in both government and private entities.Full transcript of the episode is available in EnglishPresented by 101ReportersHisham Mundol is on Twitter and LinkedInFollow TIEH podcast on Twitter, Linkedin & YouTubeOur hosts, Shreya Jai on Twitter, Linkedin & Dr. Sandeep Pai on Twitter, Linkedin

From the youth uprising of Bangladesh in summer of 2024 which overthrew the Awami-led government, a new nation is beginning to sprout. Watch and listen to the interview on RTL Today. Bangladesh doesn't hit international headlines so often unless it's for cyclone reasons. It's been quiet and slightly hidden from global news discussion. Why was that? Well last summer, the youth of Bangladesh ensured their desires for their country was heard. During July and August 2024, the youth of Bangladesh rose up against the Awami League-led government of Bangladesh, with nearly a thousand young people killed. Sheikh Hasina was the longest serving Prime minister, and is the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh. Her regime was known to be authoritarian and she's now in self-imposed exile since the uprising.  In October 2024, a team of ten students and three teachers from various Luxembourg high schools, who had been corresponding with Friendship secondary schools in Bangladesh for over a year, went to meet the young people and learn about some of the challenges of Bangladesh.  On my show this week, Aysha Siddiqua Tithi and Mir Mahbubur Rahman (Snigdho) talk about their experience, losses and the future they hope for.  Mir Snigdho, 25, is the twin brother of Mir Mugdho, who was shot dea by police whilst trying to supply water to demonstrators. His twin brother Snigdho now heads up the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation, to help the victims of the violence of July-August 2024. Mir Mahbubur Rahman (Snigdho), has a background in law and a passion for social impact and the “transformative power of collective action”. Aysha Siddiqua Tithi, 22, is a 3rd year university student who was at the forefront of the July protests and accompanied Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate (2006) and current Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, to the United Nations General Assembly last September.  Tithi is Project Director at WOOW (Work for Orientation and Organizing the World), and currently a third-year Computer Science student at BRAC University.  Snigdho encompasses the passion these young people have in turning the weight of history into something positive for Bangladesh: “The Quota Movement of 2024 was a moment of sacrifice and resilience. The Movement is deeply personal to me because I lost my own (identical twin) brother during this struggle. His sacrifice has been a profound source of inspiration, driving me to work tirelessly toward building a better future for those who have faced similar losses. This tragedy has given me a strong sense of purpose, motivating me to ensure that every sacrifice is honoured and that no one is left behind in our collective fight for justice and equality. “Witnessing the struggles of my family and  of those who fought for equality and justice has inspired me to dedicate myself to ensuring their voices are not forgotten. Through the foundation, I work to provide financial assistance, healthcare, and emotional support to the martyrs and injured, keeping alive the spirit of hope and solidarity that emerged from the movement. This experiences has profoundly shaped my vision for a stronger Bangladesh. I won't let my brother's death be in vain. “I see Bangladesh 2.0 as a land of opportunity, innovation, and inclusion—a nation where the dreams of all citizens are supported and valued. With the right blend of education, leadership, and global collaboration, I believe we can overcome systemic challenges and create a brighter future. My goal is to be part of this transformation, using the skills and knowledge I acquire to contribute meaningfully to the country's development”

Picking up where we last left off, The Tempests had been fairly naughty in the Takatari dynasty, murdering a sizable amount of Redguards who were attempting to apprehend them under the orders of the Shogun's Chief Advisor. After some hefty reprimanding from their acquaintance/kidnapee Tanaka, Kasumi decided that she would turn herself in the next morning. This was a lie however, as Kasumi slipped off in the middle of the night to return the medallion personally. Successfully slipping into the palace grounds, Kasumi was unaware that she had been followed and a short Benny Hill Scene occurred where she tried to shake her pursuer. That is until he threatened the safety of her friends. Submitting to the Kenku, Kasumi was brought before the Shogun and the medallion was returned to its rightful owner. Much to her dismay, Kasumi was not allowed to speak her mind and attempt to explain her decisions, and was instead thrown into the Yamadoku Prison to await her fellow Tempests who had been ordered captured by the Shogun. With surprisingly little hostility, the Tempests were apprehended and brought before the Shogun. Though the Shogun wished them executed, the Chief Advisor Okazaki convinced the Shogun to make use of their skills instead with Community Service. Their first task: Retrieve the moss that grows under the Weeping Sequoia and bring it to the Harbor Town that is currently quarantined and suffering from a plague.   A huge shoutout to Nick Black who made our intro jingle. Last we left off on the Tales of Archeron, the Tempests got themselves into a bit of a pickle. Early in the day, Tanaka had come calling saying that their presence was requested. Upon exiting the wagon, they discovered their home had been surrounded by a contingent of Redguard soldiers. Tanaka introduced the Chief Advisor of the Shogun, Okazaki, and then slipped into the Redguard ranks. The Chief Advisor demanded that the Shogun's amulet be given to him or else. The Tempests chose "else". A very one-sided battle ensued that ended with them kidnapping Tanaka and escaping in their wagon home. After a very thorough scolding from Tanaka, they let him go free. The Chief Advisor of Bangladesh's interim government Muhammad Yunus has said that his country will seek the extradition of ousted leader Sheikh Hasina. The former Bangladesh prime minister fled to India on August 5th, and has been living Delhi in a safe house ever since. But now Yunus has said in an interview with The Hindu, that she has been continuing her political activities from India, which is a “problem”. A special tribunal set up in Bangladesh for ‘crimes against humanity' has also asked Interpol to issue a red notice for the arrest of Hasina. But Bangladesh is yet to directly initiate the process with India for Hasina's extraction. What does the extradition treaty between India and Bangladesh say? Why hasn't Bangladesh initiated extradition proceedings yet, but has already approached Interpol? Will India accede to the extradition request or will it invoke the exemption clauses for political offences? Guest: Kallol Bhattacharjee from The Hindu's New Delhi Bureau. Host: G. Sampath, Social Affairs Editor, The Hindu. Edited by Jude Francis Weston

Today we hear a conversation between CHESS President Yates Lennon and community health expert Randy Jordan, who is the current Chief Advisor of Impact for Health at Next Stage Consulting. We listen as they discuss Managed Medicaid, funding the health safety net for the uninsured, and how different types of healthcare organizations can work together in a sustainable way.Alright, Randy Jordan, welcome to the Chess Move to Value podcast. We're thrilled to have you here today. Look forward to our conversation.Well, thank you, Yates. It's really good to be with you and with your audience today.Awesome. So why don't you just start by telling us a little bit about yourself, what you do today, and then your journey through the healthcare maze to get to where we are today.Be glad to starting with today's probably the easiest part because the rest is kind of a winding path. But today I'm working as a healthcare consultant with consulting practice out of Charlotte by the name of Next Stage. It's an interesting place to work. They have a great vision and mission for helping local communities and underserved populations and that's why I'm there. But prior to this current role, I had started out as a young man as a pharmacist practice pharmacy in the state of Florida come from a long line of pharmacists. So healthcare runs as a deep strain in my family history. After running a pharmacy, community pharmacy for a while, I ended up going to law school and decided to become a healthcare lawyer and that was a really interesting time in my life. I learned a lot from that experience and then moved on to become involved in nonprofit work and spent nearly 20 years working for an international faith-based charity out of Philadelphia by the name Hope Worldwide. And the last seven years I was that organization CEO. And then most recently, having moved to North Carolina eight years ago, I accepted the role as CEO of North Carolina's Free and Charitable Clinics Association. And that gave me a real great sense of the local flavor of North Carolina safety net. So that's how I got here today through that windy path. Always, always focused on healthcare, Always, as I look back, always focused on trying to help others.OK, that's an interesting story. I know you spent a little bit of time in Cambodia. Can you tell us a little bit about what you did there and then we'll come back to that I think more a little bit later in our conversation, but really curious about what that was about and what you learned there.Yeah, I, I actually never lived in Cambodia, but had a a strong period of work there. It started at the beginning of my time at the international charity, where I started as the general counsel, and the first assignment there was to put together a joint venture between Japanese Shinto priest, a journalist from Time magazine, and the CEO of our charity. And so that was an eclectic mix right there. But the purpose of that mix was to open up a free care hospital in Phnom Penh. Cambodia was named after the king and its purpose was to help people that didn't have access to healthcare. At the time, Cambodia was one of the poorest nations in Southeast Asia. They were spending about $2.50 per year on those that live there. They had undergone a horrible genocide through Pol Pot, and it was a very unique chance to get involved in that country. We brought up that first hospital in Phnom Penh. In the course of that work, there developed three free clinics in order to help support that hospital because some of the patients were able to pay a small amount and then finally open another hospital in the South of Cambodia in a little in a town by the name of Kempat. But all very formative experiences for our conversation today.Wow, really interesting. So in your role as the CEO of the North Carolina Association of Free and Charitable...

In today's episode I'm chatting with Mary Gagen, a Professor of Geography at Swansea University, and the Chief Advisor on Forests at WWF UK.Forests are our strongest allies in the fight against climate change, and yet we are failing them. They absorb a third of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, are home to 80% of the world's land-based animal and plant species, and provide livelihoods for 1.6 billion people. Yet forests all around the world keep being destroyed despite all the global pledges and declarations to protect them. So last month, WWF UK released a report called ‘Forest Pathways', highlighting the solutions that exist to protect and restore our forests.Mary and I spoke about the report, what it means and how she hopes it will be used. The U.S. immigration policy space has seen a high degree of dynamism—and disorder—over the past year. A raft of new humanitarian and legal immigration policies has been advanced amid record unauthorized arrivals at the U.S.-Mexico border, a growing recognition that migration is increasingly hemispheric in nature, the end of a pandemic-era expulsions policy that the government had come to rely upon, and continued congressional inaction on immigration. The courts have been active players, in some cases blocking prominent executive-branch policies. And some states, led by Texas and Florida, have noisily entered the arena. Where is this turbulent period headed? How is the Biden administration executing on its vision for a new post-pandemic strategy at the border and beyond? Is long-standing executive branch pre-eminence on immigration eroding as the courts and states assume greater roles? And where is immigration likely to stand as an issue in upcoming national elections? MPI Senior Fellow Doris Meissner leads a panel of experts in tackling these and other issues. We are EXTREMELY honored to chop't up on the final EPISODE of the year with Ingrid Lewis Martin. We often don't recognize the difficult task government officials dealt with to keep the City running. Many of these civil servants enter into this work to make a DIFFERENCE. NEW YORK—Mayor Eric Adams announced Chaplain Ingrid Lewis-Martin as Chief Advisor to the mayor, a role which will have her working in partnership with the first deputy mayor, chief of staff, and all direct reports to the Mayor to support operations at City Hall and advance the administration's strategic policies and priorities. However, Chaplain Lewis-Martin's political career started in 1983, first volunteering on the re-election campaign for the late Representative Major R. Owens and later serving as deputy campaign manager. She's a champion within the political community, a fierce Christian, and an Advocate for living life on her OWN TERMS redefining life, leadership, and legacy! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/karmisha-superville/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/karmisha-superville/support

10.10.2022 #RolandMartinUnfiltered: GA Voter Suppression, Racist LA City County Pres. Resigns, Fox News & Kanye, Winter Workouts An old audio clip of Georgia's Governor Brian Kemp talking about minority voters resurfaces.  We'll look at what's happening in Georgia as one county just dismissed 22,000 voter registration challenges.  Nse Ofot, CEO of the New Georgia Project Action Fund, will help us examine what's happening in the state.  In California, the president of the Los Angeles City Council resigns after a leaked audio recording revealed racist and disparaging remarks she made about the Black child of a white council member and the city's Indigenous immigrants. Fox News dedicated more than two and a half hours of coverage to Kanye West days before he made antisemitic remarks.  I'm breaking all of that down tonight.  Netflix's Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is one of the streaming service's highest-viewed shows, but it's getting a lot of negative backlash.  Including why Christopher Scarver killed him.  Dr. Cleo Manago, the Chief Advisor of Black Men's Xchange, will explain why the series is white-washed.  And in our Fit, Live, Win segment, fitness trainer Asia Johnson will be here in the studio to give us some tips on how to stay fit as the temperatures drop.  Support RolandMartinUnfiltered and #BlackStarNetwork via the Cash App ☛ https://cash.app/$rmunfiltered PayPal ☛ https://www.paypal.me/rmartinunfiltered Venmo ☛https://venmo.com/rmunfiltered Zelle ☛ roland@rolandsmartin.com Annual or monthly recurring #BringTheFunk Fan Club membership via paypal ☛ https://rolandsmartin.com/rmu-paypal/ Download the #BlackStarNetwork app on iOS, AppleTV, Android, Android TV, Roku, FireTV, SamsungTV and XBox

In the middle of our chat with Carson Chan, Chief Advisor to the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, he makes a bold claim — that no other type of object has changed from the category of ‘need' to the category of ‘want' as profoundly as the wristwatch. Since recording the call, Andy and Felix have been wracking their brains for a better answer – but still haven't come up with one. This insight is one of Carson's many pearls of wisdom. We also speak about his role at the FHH, the state of collecting, the future of the industry and how to improve the GPHG. On top of that, Carson effortlessly schools Felix and Andy with one of his fiendish Instagram quizzes. Suffice it to say a good time was had by all. Looking for less loops? Dr. Marci Nielsen, Vice President for Policy and Advocacy at Resolve to Save Lives, joins J. Stephen Morrison for episode 144. For an 18 month period beginning in the fall of 2020, Dr. Nielsen served as Chief Advisor for COVID-19 Coordination for Kansas Governor, Laura Kelly, where she led outreach efforts across the state to advance dialogue, access to data, and transparency. Regular public fora on schools – when to close or open, promotion of tests, vaccinations, masks – were a key tool to counter rising political tensions and disinformation. Over her career, the public health sector has “never been political” to this extent, fostering a significant “lack of understanding.” “Great hope” lies in strengthening communications, the determined commitment of public health and elected officials, and youth.
