It took them a while, but both Andrew Mercado and James Manning have finally watched Amazon Prime's Golden Globe and Emmy-winning The Marvellous Mrs Maisel and they love it. Also on the menu a smorgasbord of great dramas to get stuck into – Pose, Deuce, Apple Tree Yard and Jack Ryan. The Mediaweek podcasters were less-impressed by Maniac and Andrew wasn't too keen on Mr Inbetween. Also up for discussion this week: Real life ABC drama, TEN's commissioning binge, Mad As Hell, Neighbours, Line of Duty and Working Class Boy.
We are featuring the best bits from this year today but do not fear Nathan, Nat and Shaun are back tomorrow! We dished out a few red cards this morning after Producer Claire ate her quiche with a spoon and she left the shell of the pastry, red carded! The one and only Jimmy Barnes, aka Barnsy, joined us to talk about his documentary Working Class Boy. We catch a snippet of what his childhood was really like!Do you know someone that looks like something? You will get a belly-laugh from the stories we get.And Lynne McGranger, better known as Irene from Home and Away popped into the studio ahead of Legally Blonde the Musical kicking off! We find out how Lynne got the role of Irene and her thoughts on some of the actors she has worked with including Chris Hemsworth. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Karl tags along as Jimmy Barnes revisits his childhood in Glasgow and Elizabeth in Working Class Boy, the doco based on the stage show based on the book based on the actual crappy and utterly impoverished upbringing of the Cold Chisel frontman. Andrew heads in the other direction, checking out Billionaire Boys Club before heading to the Home Show in search of ... well, what exactly? And that leaves just enough time for a quick wrestle with the 70-odd-foot of gruntingly good fun that is the giant shark movie The Meg. Enjoy. Karl Quinn is on Twitter, Facebook and writes a lot for Fairfax Media. The Clappers is produced by Nearly, a podcast network. Music by Stage Engine from Fugue. Find a new podcast! Jimmy Barnes has lived many lives — from Glaswegian migrant kid to out of control front man, from solo superstar to proud father of his own musical clan. In the hugely anticipated second volume of his memoirs, Jimmy picks up the story of his life as he leaves Adelaide in the back of an old truck with a then unknown band called Cold Chisel. Working Class Man is the book Australia has been waiting for. The promise of Working Class Boy was that to understand the man you needed to meet the boy, and now in Working Class Man that promise is fulfilled. Jimmy Barnes lays his life bare. Jimmy joined Sarah and Paddy this morning, and reflected on the good, and the 'not so good' times throughout his career.

Jimmy Barnes is the heart and soul of Australian rock & roll. After spending over 40 years on stage, he has sold more records in Australia than any other domestic rock & roll artist. He shared the story of his childhood in his book, "Working Class Boy" revealing how little money they had, how little his father was around and how little chance he had of success, let alone survival. Jimmy's learned many lessons from his parents and now as a parent himself about fatherhood was kind enough to share those with me.
