In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Melissa Robinson-Winemiller, an international bestselling author, TEDx speaker, EQ and empathy coach, and leading voice on emotional intelligence. After a 30-year career as a professional musician working with legendary talent like Ray Charles, David Ogden Stiers, and Mannheim Steamroller, toxic leadership eventually robbed her of her career. However, that incident inspired Dr. Melissa to transform leadership as we know it by redefining the one element that most leaders miss: empathy. Together, we explore how she transitioned from music to interdisciplinary leadership, why empathy is a strategic skill for better productivity and profit, and how self-empathy lays the foundation for all human-centric action In this episode, we discuss: How a 30-year career in music playing alongside icons like Ray Charles shifted into leadership consulting after experiencing toxic workplace leadership Debunking the myth that empathy is "just about feelings" by exploring its 43 different definitions The three core types of empathy for leaders: emotional, cognitive, and self-empathy The 4-step framework for self-empathy: self-observation, self-reflection, self-awareness, and self-compassion Why self-observation requires approaching your actions like a computer—critical, not caring, and without judgment Why empathy itself has no action, and how jumping straight into fixing things causes misplaced compassion The crucial difference between being "nice" as a social lubricant and being truly "kind" How sympathy (looking through your own eyes) differs from true empathy (looking through another person's perspective) Why empathy must come first in your toolkit before applying emotional intelligence skills How leaders can build an empathetic workplace culture by modeling behavior from the top down Dr. Melissa's TEDx talk, her handbook The Empathic Leader, and her vision to launch a center for leadership and empathy innovation About Dr. Melissa: As a professional musician, Dr. Melissa Robinson-Winemiller worked with major talent such as Ray Charles, David Ogden Stiers, and Mannheim Steamroller. But cold and toxic leadership eventually robbed her of a career that was 30+ years in the making. However, that incident inspired Dr. Melissa to transform leadership as we know it by redefining the one element that most leaders miss: empathy. Today, she's an international bestselling author, Editor's Pick TEDx speaker, EQ and empathy coach, and leading voice on emotional intelligence and empathy. She's known for blending lived experience, academic depth, and a sharp, data-driven approach that not only makes sense but demystifies how empathy translates to better productivity, innovation, and profit. Her mission is to invite everyone to approach empathy as a strategic skill for every human-centric action, not only for others but also for ourselves, and to step up in the way the future of leadership demands. Through compelling life stories, thought-provoking questions, Scripture, reflection, prayer, declarations, and practical action, this book invites readers to see the nations through the eyes of God. The journey explores migration, family separation, Indigenous dignity, racial reconciliation, leadership, justice, poverty, healthcare, education, natural-resource stewardship, disaster resilience, environmental responsibility, sport, media, culture, missions, Church unity, and national transformation. Each day moves beyond awareness into informed intercession and practical Kingdom engagement. Whether you are an intercessor, pastor, missionary, disciple-maker, ministry leader, businessperson, educator, public servant, small-group facilitator, student, or believer seeking a deeper burden for the nations, this book will challenge you to think differently, pray intentionally, and participate more fully in God's redemptive purposes for the Americas. Because nations matter. Because communities matter. Because families matter. Because every soul matters. And because God is still looking for men and women willing to stand in the gap. From pole to pole, Thy Kingdom come. Cory Proctor joins Fred and CA to discuss the Cowboys leading up to training camp, his testimony and book coming out soon!
You’ve heard the phrase ‘horse sense’ which generally means the ability to make good judgments or decisions. In other words, common sense, about which we have often been told isn’t all that common. Our guest today, Patrick Dorinson, has a lot of what I described earlier, and he lays it all out in his new book, “The Common Sense Cowboy’s Guide to Life: Stories from the Old Guy at the End of the Bar.” The book is a spirited read full of life lessons, based on his years working on ranch crews, winning buckles in cow work competitions and as a campfire teller of tales both tall and small alike. In the book, he and his contributor Mathew Klickstein, lay out the common sense cowboy’s 12 rules for life. Number one on the list is “the secret to a long life is getting up every day with a purpose. Young or old, working or retired, everyone needs a purpose so find yours.” There so much more to benefit from in this podcast. He’s also got a great voice and graces the book cover with his elegant handlebar mustache. He’s the real deal.

The Fork In Your Ear Ep#215 Eternia of Games! - Podcast Show Notes Summary 6-13-26 Gaming News – Oops All Games Edition! Tim and Nate kick off with an "oops all games" episode packed wall-to-wall with fresh showcases. They open with the Xbox Games Showcase (June 7). Tim watched with Jessica while making breakfast; Nate and Cara ran it live in the Discord. Key highlights: Gears of War: E-Day (Oct 6, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Game Pass day one, Unreal Engine 5 built from the ground up by The Coalition). The prequel Emergence Day story stars Marcus and Dom. The Coalition's deep Unreal expertise and "from-scratch" approach have everyone hyped for performance and visuals. Tim and Nate debate third-person cover shooters (Nate's not a fan of the mechanic; Tim loves the destroyed world, underground critters, and chainsaw guns). Fable – New cinematic trailer confirms Haley Atwell (Agent Carter) as the long-teased villain Isabel. Jack of Blades gets a surprise tease, hinting at multiple villains. A 30-minute full gameplay video dropped days later showing a talking pig quest, romance options, UI, and systems in action. Delayed to February 23, 2027 (Xbox, PC, Game Pass, and still coming to PS5) to polish and avoid GTA 6. Tim is very excited; Nate is cautiously optimistic but holding judgment on open-world RPG scope. Halo: Campaign Evolved (July 28, Xbox, PC, PS5, Game Pass) – UE5 remake of Halo 1 with core Blam engine (physics/game logic pulled from Halo: Reach) for that authentic "spongy" feel. New Sergeant Johnson voice actor, prequel missions (Assault on the Control Room & Silent Cartographer) locked behind the main campaign, vehicle jacking, new weapons (energy sword, fuel rod, brute spiker), sprint, clambering, 40+ skulls, and a "Remix Mode" for wild enemy swaps/randomization. 4-player co-op (local split-screen + online). Previews are extremely positive; limited collector's editions sold out fast. Tim is all-in on the respectful-yet-improved remake treatment and wants to share it with new players. Other Xbox news: Persona 6 trailer reactions (mixed/underwhelmed), new Spyro game from Toys for Bob (Tom Kenny returning as Spyro, Dragonflight mechanics), Clockwork Revolution (InXile steampunk RPG, Xbox ecosystem exclusive vibes), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-era title getting Unreal Engine help from The Coalition + Grounded-style cross-world system, new dark Metro game from the Ukrainian team (still developing in wartime conditions), Resonance (Plague Tale legacy?), Minecraft Dungeons 2, new Senua Hellblade-universe action game (Nate loved the first, mixed on the second; Tim was never a fan but this one looks more classic Ninja Theory), Crazy Taxi World Tour (2027, pure arcade nostalgia), and Castlevania: Belmont's Curse (Oct 15 – Tim is already hooked into his veins; Switch 2 version delayed, which upsets him).

Ryan Wrecker brought on author and former political strategist Patrick Dorinson during this segment to discuss his latest book, The Common Sense Cowboy's Guide to Life: Stories from the Trail, the Barstool, and Everywhere In Between. The Cowboy Way vs. Modern ChaosThe interview centered on applying timeless, rugged principles to navigate today's tumultuous political and cultural landscape:The Core Philosophy: Dorinson, known online as @thecowboylibertarian, explained that his book serves as a "Will Rogers meets Mark Twain" guide. He emphasized one of his core rules: "A fancy education might gain you some knowledge, but only hard life experiences will gain you wisdom. A PhD won't help you fix a flat tire."Personal Accountability: The segment focused heavily on the breakdown of accountability in current American culture. Dorinson walked through his rules for doing the right thing when nobody is watching, the finality of breaking trust, and why people need to stop wasting time on the "couldas, shouldas, and wouldas" and get busy with the "doin'."Skeptical View of Politics: Drawing from his political background, Dorinson shared a humorous but cynical piece of cowboy wisdom regarding modern leaders: "If you shake hands with a politician, be sure to count your fingers when you let go to make sure you still have all five

Her experience navigating high-performance, male-dominated environments sharpened her strategic mindset, discipline, and leadership style, while reinforcing her passion for empowering women to move boldly, claim their space, confidence, and define success on their own terms. Wine became a natural extension of that philosophy. Through moments of reflection and celebration shared over thoughtfully curated tastings with friends and family, Kora recognized wine as more than a beverage — it is a symbol of mindset, milestones, and the perseverance behind every achievement. This realization became the foundation of Aesthetic Wines — a brand created for those who live intentionally, rise resiliently, and understand that true luxury begins within. Under Kora's leadership, Aesthetic Wines continues to inspire a community that values confidence, connection, and empowerment — honoring not just where they are, but everything it took to get there. https://aestheticwines.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/korafranco/https://www.linkedin.com/company/aesthetic-wines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aestheticwines TikTok: Aesthetic_Wines ----- Connect with Candice Snyder! In this episode, Candice sits down with John Mitchell, an entrepreneur, author, and creator of a powerful methodology designed to help people unlock higher levels of success. After decades of searching for answers, John discovered what he calls the “missing secret” behind lasting transformation and now teaches it to students and professionals looking to take control of their lives. In this episode, they discuss: Why up to 95% of your daily actions are driven by unconscious patterns How your autopilot mindset may be limiting your success The difference between living an average life and an exceptional one Why most people only prefer success rather than truly pursuing it The power of a simple daily practice to rewire your thinking How consistency, not intensity, creates lasting transformation What it really takes to gain control of your actions and outcomes This episode is a powerful reminder that when you learn to think differently, you begin to live differently, and that the life you want starts with the thoughts you choose every single day! About John: John Mitchell has a fascinating journey. After spending more than 20 years as an entrepreneur, John reached age 50 realizing he wasn't as successful as he believed he should be. Determined to change that, he set out to study the top book on success, Think and Grow Rich, and apply it —word for word—to his life. In the process, John uncovered what he believes is the full secret the book alludes to and developed a simple 12-minute-a-day technique grounded in science. When he implemented this daily practice, his income increased dramatically-by 25 times! Today, John teaches this methodology at the University of Texas' McCombs School of Business and serves as a mental coach for UT's head athletic coaches, helping high performers focus on what truly moves the needle. In this episode, Candice sits down with Garrett Wood, a clinical hypnotherapist and executive functioning specialist who helps high performers achieve sustainable success without sacrificing their health or relationships. Garrett shares his personal journey through burnout and how those experiences led him to develop a framework that helps others break free from the cycle of overwork and overwhelm. In this episode, they discuss: How burnout evolves and why it can become part of your identity The hidden dangers of tying your self-worth to your career or title Why the belief that success requires sacrifice is flawed The five stages of burnout and how to recognize them early How to reconnect with your true identity beyond your work The role of wellbeing in creating sustainable high performance Practical ways to shift from burnout to alignment in your daily life This episode is a powerful reminder that true success is not about losing yourself in the process, but about building a life where your well-being and purpose work together. About Garrett: Garrett Wood, NBC-HWC, is a clinical hypnotherapist, executive functioning specialist, and founder of Gnosis Therapy. He works with executives, founders, and entrepreneurs who want sustainable high performance without trading health or relationships. Over 18 years, he developed the A³ Framework—Assess, Accommodate, Align—which maps capacity across seven drivers of performance: sensory intelligence, bio-budgets, emotional regulation, core beliefs, attachment patterns, values, and executive functioning strengths. He applies outcome-based coaching, somatic regulation, and clinical hypnotherapy to end the boom-and-bust cycle of burnout, because sustainable success is built through your well-being, not at its expense. https://www.gnosistherapy.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/gnosistherapy/ https://www.facebook.com/wood.garrett/?_rdr https://www.instagram.com/gnosistherapy ----- Connect with Candice Snyder!
