“If I am the cause of my problem, I am also the solution.” After seeing him speak at a sober living facility, I knew That God had brought Adam Sud into my life for a higher purpose. Adam is a holistic lifestyle coach for recovering addicts where he teaches nutrition and wellness as methods of relapse prevention and today he will share with us his journey of recovery and his path to holistic health and healing. When Adam checked in to a recovery facility, he was a three-hundred pound, amphetamine addicted Type-2 diabetic. Although he had a happy childhood in Houston, Texas, he felt pressure from his family to live a healthy lifestyle. But sometimes, as children, when we hear that Oreos are bad for us what we really internalize is that we are bad for wanting that food in the first place. Adam developed self-image issues resulting in a junk food and drug dependency.“The best medicine is always what’s on your fork.” Adam SudCLICK TO TWEETWithin just six months of checking in to a recovery facility, Adam reversed his diabetes, got down to one hundred and seventy pounds, and is now celebrating two and half years sober. As Adam changed his lifestyle, he began to recognize his self-worth and has now started to shine his light of awareness and wellness onto others.I really identify with Adam’s story as I’ve seen with my own eyes the way that recovering drug addicts can transfer from one addiction to another. Food is an addiction. Feed your body what is clean, pure, and real and that will translate to your mind, body, and spirit. At the end of the day, your lifestyle habits do not reflect or define who you are as a person. With the right positive changes, you can allow your true self to shine through.“Movement matters.”LISTEN TO THE PODCAST  WATCH THE PODCAST   RESOURCESadasud@gmail.com512 731 0245

Today, I have the pleasure of speaking with a very special guest, international spokesperson for personal transformation and weight loss, Frank Ferrante. Featured in two major documentaries including May I Be Frank? and Hungry For Change, Frank’s resume is extensive. From an illegal narcotics distributor, a cab driver, and a general contractor to an actor, recovered alcoholic junkie, and a vegan raw foodist, Frank has had quite the journey to get where he is now and today he shares some of the lessons he learned on his journey to physical and spiritual healing. After thirty years involved with drugs and alcohol, Frank finally reached a point where he could no longer live the way he was living, but he couldn’t see a way out. He surrendered himself to God and started a 12-step program. But even when he quit drugs and alcohol, he found problems with sex and overeating. Frank found that, even when he was sober, the underlying pain that caused him to seek drugs in the first place still remained. At 300 pounds, Frank had isolated himself from those he cared about because he didn’t care about himself. After stumbling in to Café Gratitude, a raw-food restaurant, he embarked on a life-changing journey of weight loss and transformation over 42 days. Again, Frank surrendered to God and signed a contract with the owners of the restaurant that he would commit to a raw food diet, daily affirmations, and weekly colonics. After just a week and a half, Frank felt a shift in himself. He turned his personal pain into personal power by stumbling into grace. What once seemed insurmountable was within his grasp because he had help. With help from others, he recognized that he was not alone and that it was not food or drugs that were the problem, but instead his relationship to himself and to food ad drugs that needed to change.Today, Frank works to help others realize their potential for change and works to cultivate humility within himself daily. He now helps others to realize that they are not incomplete and that they need only to nurture themselves to blossom into who they were meant to be. Achieving balance in all things is key to a more present life.If you would like to reach out to Frank, you can get in touch with him at info@mayIspeakFrankly.comLISTEN TO THE PODCAST  WATCH THE PODCAST   RESOURCESFood MattersMay I Be Frank?Hungry For ChangeKris Carr

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with a good friend and fellow colleague, Lisa. After meeting at a modeling job and getting to know each other on the job,  Lisa and I both realized that we share a similar struggle: living with a parent who is an addict. Many people with parents who are addicts feel ashamed about their struggle. Our hope is that sharing our paths with an audience will encourage people to start talking more openly about addiction and the impact it has on people. After a recent move to the East Coast and surrounding herself with positive people, Lisa is the happiest she has ever been. But growing up in southern California she didn't have such a charmed life. Lisa’s father has struggled with a heroin addiction dating back to his high school years. My own father has been struggling for the last ten years with a crack addiction so I can relate to the frustration and helplessness that comes from having a parent with an addiction.Even at her darkest time as she ran with her sister to the church across the street to pray as her father held a knife to her mother, Lisa found strength and peace through her faith and spirituality. At the end of the day, addiction is a disease and as much as we can try to fix the person, we can't make them change. It's something they have to realize for themselves. After years of draining herself of energy and happiness, Lisa has realized that while she loves her father very much that she has to first and foremost invest in her own happiness. By feeding her mind, body, and soul with a healthy lifestyle and surrounding herself with positive people, Lisa is finally detaching herself from the codependency that comes with loving an addict and is on a path to healing. My hope is that anyone listening to Lisa’s story who either battles an addiction or lives with an addict can find solace and comfort in knowing that they are not alone.  It's never too late to change and its never to late to seek help.
