Want a quick estimate of how much your business is worth? With our free valuation calculator, answer a few questions about your business, and you'll get an immediate estimate of the value of your business. You might be surprised by how much you can get for it: https://flippa.com/exit -- In this episode of The Exit, Ingrid Vanderveldt, serial entrepreneur, investor, and founder of EBW Worldwide, shares how mentorship and a bold vision shaped her journey from the dotcom boom to building a platform to empower one billion women. Inspired by Michael Dell's rise, Ingrid built one of the first personalization algorithms for the web, exited multiple ventures, and became Dell's first Entrepreneur-in-Residence, where she helped create a $250M fund and drove nearly $1B in new business. Ingrid opens up about the confidence gap holding many women back from accessing capital, recounting how she launched a $100M fund for women and initially received no applicants — a turning point that fueled her mission to close systemic gaps. Her advice for founders preparing for an exit: define your ideal outcome early, build a “ride-or-die” support team (lawyers, accountants, mentors), and keep your paperwork tight to avoid last-minute deal risks. Today, Ingrid is focused on EBW-1, a patented tech platform using AI to deliver personalized education, access to capital, and community for entrepreneurs worldwide — helping them scale, negotiate, and exit with confidence. -- Ingrid Vanderveldt is a self-made tech entrepreneur, investor, and media personality who serves as Founder and CEO of Vanderveldt Global Investments, EBW (Empowering a Billion Women), EBW Cares Distributors, and Ingrid Vanderveldt LLC. A former Dell Entrepreneur-in-Residence who built a $250M business segment and launched the Dell Innovators Credit Fund, she now focuses on advancing women globally through access to mobile tools, mentoring, and capital. Have you ever thought about how a simple device, something as modest as a “dumb phone,” could bring transformative change to billions? In today's episode, we're diving into this fascinating intersection of technology, accessibility, and social impact with Anu Bhardwaj, the visionary founder of SHEQONOMI.  As the world's first and only women-led podcast platform aimed at the "bottom five billion," SHEQONOMI is making digital content and economic empowerment accessible to underserved women across the globe. From low-cost phones to inclusive content in over 50 languages, Anu's mission is to bridge the gender gap and bring education, health, and financial knowledge to women who traditionally lack access. SHEQONOMI isn't your typical podcast platform. It's specifically designed to work on low-cost mobile applications such as Jio, Cloud Phone, KaiOS, Android, and iOS. Anu's pioneering approach allows the platform to reach communities often left out of the digital revolution. Imagine being able to connect and educate through over 5,000 women-centric podcasts in diverse languages—empowering voices that span topics from health to entrepreneurship, all while rewarding users for content creation and listening. Anu also brings a profound personal story of resilience and commitment. Inspired by her daughter's questions about educational inequalities, she built this platform from scratch, even securing a prestigious $150,000 grant from the Islamic Development Bank during the pandemic. Her achievements don't stop there: from co-chairing the Blockchain for Impact Summit at the United Nations to being named one of Inc Magazine's Global Top 100 Female Founders, Anu has made it her mission to use technology to uplift women and drive positive change. So, what's next for SHEQONOMI? Anu is setting her sights on developing a "super app" for marginalized populations, integrating generative AI, and expanding partnerships to bring more voices into the conversation. Could this pioneering platform redefine digital inclusion for billions around the world? And as Anu continues to break new ground, who would she love to have a conversation with from the worlds of tech, venture capital, or social impact? Tune in to discover how SHEQONOMI is reshaping the digital landscape for underserved communities, one podcast at a time. Would you agree that technology's real power lies in its ability to unite and uplift? Let us know your thoughts!

"Empowerment is the ability to make choices... and... having economic tools, economic resources is a way of providing the means for those choices." The world has come a long way since 1974 when women in America could not have their own bank account or checking account without their husband's signature. The 1st United Nations World Conference on Women in 1975 and the subsequent creation of Women's World Banking in 1979, have played a massive part in enabling women today to achieve financial independence and be economically empowered. Mary Ellen Iskenderian has been at the helm of Women's World Banking for 18 years. She joins us today to talk about how far we have come with respect to women's financial inclusion, her organisation's work in this area, particularly in low-income settings, and how far we have yet still to go. We talk about her book, ‘There's Nothing Micro About a Billion Women' - a reference to the nearly one billion women, who until a couple of years ago, were outside of formal financial systems - and how women's financial inclusion is not just good for women and their families, but also, good for business, good for the resilience of the global economy, and essential to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Recorded May 2024.
