@Banyen Books & Sound joins Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo for a special discussion of her book: The Heroic Heart. JETSUNMA TENZIN PALMO was raised in London and became a Buddhist while still in her teens. At the age of twenty she traveled to India, becoming one of the first Westerners to be ordained as a Buddhist nun. The international bestseller Cave in the Snow chronicles her twelve years of seclusion in a remote cave. Deeply concerned with the plight of Buddhist nuns, she established Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery in India. In 2008 His Holiness the Twelfth Gyalwang Drukpa, head of the Drukpa Kagyu lineage, gave her the rare title of Jetsunma (Venerable Master).
I talk about how I have found more clarity in my life. I talk about how I am bouncing back from accomplishing the biggest goals I've ever set for myself.
Evenings Kingdom: the Conversations. Wide-ranging conversations with artists and thinkers on their work, their life; their adventures, processes and routines. Kind of an ‘Inside the Actor's Studio' meets ‘The Tim Ferriss Show,' these Conversations will, no doubt, wend their ways into my writing. In stories from me in years to come, you may well recognize characters and ideas first discussed here. Accordingly, today's episode features my dear friend Pat Gault. He is an artist and waymaker, and a military veteran. In this conversation, we consider the many different kinds of possible cognizance - that of trees, rivers, mountains, even rocks - how this informs the worldviews of many traditional cultures like the Alaskan Dena'ina, who recognize these multiple dimensions of consciousness, all of which thoughts and the wind could traverse… Pat became a Pararescueman (a PJ) at 18. He is also a writer, exploring alternative treatment methods for PTSD and depression, such as meditation and psychedelics. But it is his growing relationship with the Alaskan backcountry which has truly transformed his life. Accordingly, he founded the Alaska Institute of Curiosity and Exploration or ALICE to help redefine our understanding of nature as the original entheogen. You can visit him at AliceQuest.com to learn more about the Alaskan quests he guides - and I do recommend it to your attention! :) Recently Pat was connected with the Heroic Hearts Project, which offers veterans psychedelic treatment options to heal their PTSD. The Heroic Heart's program guides veterans to help them get the most out of their time on retreats, while also setting them up for success when they return home. This is Pat's story. Please share and please enjoy! Love, Paula

What I discuss with Jesse Gould Jesse Gould joins me in this episode of the Passion Struck podcast to discuss his mission to help military veterans struggling with mental trauma and spread awareness of the benefits of psychedelic therapies as an alternative treatment to pharmaceuticals. For centuries, indigenous healers and Native Americans have used psychedelic plants for therapy and medical treatment. Ayahuasca, for instance, has been used over 5000 years to facilitate personal and collective healing. During ceremonies, healers would often help provide recovery and reconcile the trauma people had experienced. Over the past century, psychedelics were labeled as illicit drugs and prohibited. Jesse's goal is to change that and legalize their use for mental health ailments. 0:00 Teaser and announcements 2:37 Introduction of Jesse Gould 4:28 Participating in the 4x4x48 to support veteran non-profits 7:50 Why he founded the Heroic Hearts Project. 12:17 The benefits of treatments from psilocybin, ayahuasca, and MDMA 17:44 The path to legalizing psychedelic drugs for clinical use 22:43 MDMA intervention is having almost a 66 to 67% success rate 25:36 Why is Big Pharma doing everything it can to block its adoption? 28:36 The protocol in terms of the dosage of MDMA 30:55 How psilocybin is administered 32:22 How is Ketamine used for PTSD 41:58 The nature of side effects and how often they occur 47:40 Why your traumas is what develops you and makes you who you are 51:24 How to obtain services from Heroic Hearts 54:33 Episode wrap-up Where you can find Jesse Gould * Website: https://www.heroicheartsproject.org/ * LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jesse-gould/ * Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/weheroichearts/ * Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heroicheartsproject/ -- Welcome to Passion Struck podcast, a show where you get to join me in exploring the mindset and philosophy of the world's most inspiring everyday heroes to learn their lessons to living intentionally. Heroic Hearts Project is a non profit that connects military veterans struggling with mental trauma to ayahuasca therapy retreats. These veterans typically have tried all the available resources offered by the Department of Veteran Affairs with limited success leaving them with very few options. We open the door to other viable options. HHP also provides support and professional counseling to these veterans throughout the process.
