Overall a decent flick. It was refreshing to see Chris Evans in something other than the MCU, and reminded us that even without the shield he's a great actor. The film was a good blend of drama, comedy, and suspense, though at times it felt as though they pushed harder on drama than necessary resulting in some heavy eye rolls. Based on incredible true events, the film has some power but definitely doesn't do the story justice in the way it was told. The cast was good and the characters are lovable, but we could have used a bit more building in the first act for sure. If Steven Spielberg had been behind it, we're positive this thing would have received an A+. * “Israel's Mossad agents attempt to rescue Ethiopian Jewish refugees in Sudan in 1979...” * Written and Directed By: Gideon Raff Starring: Chris Evans, Haley Bennett, Ben Kingsley * TV-MA | 2h 9min | Drama, History, Thriller | 31 July 2019 (USA) * #Netflix #NetflixOriginal #ChrisEvans #Flixin6 #MovieReviews * Follow us on insta! Horror movies are tough to judge sometimes, but this one very clearly has issues. The story is unique, the gore scenes were decent, hell even some of the acting wasn't all bad. Overall though, this one is NOT a recommend from us. Too much of the story was spent focused on uninteresting things, the movie as a whole somehow drags on despite the modest 90 minute runtime, and when the credits roll an overwhelming feeling of "what the hell was that?" “During an outbreak of a deadly plague, a mystical woman must save her tight-knit Jewish community from foreign invaders, but the entity she conjures to protect them is a far greater evil...” * Written and Directed By: Doron Paz, Yoav Paz Starring: Hani Furstenberg, Ishai Golan, Kirill Cernyakov * 1h 35min | Drama, Horror | 5 February 2019 (USA) * #thegolem #netflix #horrormovies #Flixin6 #MovieReviews * Follow us on insta! Ironically The Waldo Moment serves a stepping stone between episodes, much like the supporting character to her political opponents. Waldo is a great lesson on giving television characters too much power, and how our gullibility frequently gets us into trouble politically. We end up riffing on favorite Nickelodeon shows as this episode of Black Mirror doesn't offer up much to talk about. Long story short, Summer Sanders, we miss you. * “A failed comedian who voices a popular cartoon bear named Waldo finds himself mixing in politics when TV executives want Waldo to run for office.......”*Starring Daniel Rigby, Chloe Pirrie, Jason Flemyng*TV-MA | 43min | Drama, Sci-Fi, Thriller | Episode aired 25 February 2013*#BlackMirror #Netflix #moviereviews #Flixin6 #BBC*Follow us on insta!JermMikeCass
Quentin Tarantino's 9th film is FINALLY HERE! We had some mixed opinions on the show about Tarantino's latest film, but overall had a blast talking about it. Despite varying letter grades, we all marveled at the film's uniqueness, the INCREDIBLE performances, and overall Tarantino vibe. Jeremy came out hot with an A+, Max with a B, Cass with a B+ and Michael with a flat C. * “A faded television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles..” * Written and Directed By: Quentin Tarantino Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie * R | 2h 41min | Comedy, Drama | 26 July 2019 (USA) * #QuentinTarantino #Onceuponatimeinhollywood #tarantino #Flixin6 #MovieReviews * Follow us on insta! Season 2 rolls on with this morbid tale exploring the age old question...does the punishment fit the crime? It ranked pretty highly with us especially having not seen it for a while. We try to stay in the present moment, but the truth is every episode we do means we're getting closer to White Christmas which is going to be A BLOW OUT! * “Victoria wakes up and cannot remember anything about her life. We're finally cracking into season 2 of Black Mirror with this doozy, Be Right Back! Charlie Brooker comes out swinging on this BBC/Netflix series that keeps us all on our toes with our fancy iPhones. The real reason this episode is easily one of the best of the entire series is the acting. We make history here at Flix in 6 on this episode. For the first time we had some seriously heated debates as to whether or not this series was trash, fire, or something in the middle. The big takeaway here is that we all enjoyed the season, despite some beef, and above all else....at the end of the day it's a new season of Stranger Things and that had us fired the f up.. * “Summer brings new jobs and budding romance. The concluding ep of season 1 was fierce as ever and really makes you wish you'd never wanted more memory in your favorite devices. Charlie Brooker pulled out all the stops in this heart wrenching tale of jealousy, insecurity, and good ole fashion adultery. * “In the near future, everyone has access to a memory implant that records everything they do, see and hear - a sort of Sky Plus (Digital Video Recorder) for the brain. Reality tv. American Idol. Endless pedaling. Green Apples. That's right folks you'll get all of that and MORE in Black Mirror's second episode. The whole cast brought some heat and we loved this ep even more the second time through. What a fun ride! Far From Home was the happy go lucky scoop of sorbet we desperately needed after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Wow, what a shit show. The latest Netflix Original starring Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler fails in just about every way possible. The third and final installment of Black Mirror Season 5, Rachel Jack and Ashley Too, was easily the most disappointing episode thus far. The first and second act instilled some hope that we'd finally get "black mirrored" at the episode's conclusion, but despite the promising build the third act still flopped. Hard. Myley Cyrus isn't where we're targeting our upset...she did a fine job with what she was given. There were scenes in which we thought she brought some serious heat...but there were scenes that were flat out embarrassing to watch. The call back to "White Christmas" via Cookie technology was as awesome as it was wasted, making the conclusion of the episode that much more painful. We COULD have had such a wicked fun time, but instead we were slapped in the face with social commentary we've been consistently berated by for the last decade. Well they can't all be winners. This was definitely a major disappointment. What started as a great concept certain to end in darkness fell extremely flat and had 0 payoff. Nothing happened. Charlie Brooker kicks of his fifth season of Netflix’s show, Black Mirror with Striking Vipers! **Damn it feels good to be home. Though it didn’t pack the same punch as Entire History of You or National Anthem, it had a point and made it well. Anthony Mackie did a great job as did the entire cast, and overall the show had a great feel to it. A wonderful perspective on the addictive tendencies we have towards social media and the digital landscape as a whole. What does it say about relationships in the future? In 2019? This is the quintessential pulpy action flick. It's jam-packed with constant gun-fu shenanigans and the plot requires little to no attention to wrap your head around. I have no idea what the official body count is, but damn it's got to be up there. It wasn't without flaws, obviously, but overall we had a blast. “Super-assassin John Wick is on the run after killing a member of the international assassin's guild, and with a $14 million price tag on his head - he is the target of hit men and women everywhere..” Starring Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, Halle Berry, and Laurence Fishburne Rated R | 2 hr 11 min | thriller, action, crime | Video:https://youtu.be/7xN4iVy1J6Q #JohnWick #Johnwick3 #moviereviews #Flixin6 Follow us on insta!Jerm: https://www.instagram.com/jermz1138/Jason: https://www.instagram.com/jgrizay/Max: https://www.instagram.com/thecrapturel/
Well gang here it is, the final conclusion episode on Black Mirror before Season 5 drops! Season 4 was tough to rate. Hang the DJ ranked supreme for us all, and stands out as one of the all-time best of the series. USS Callister had an awkward sensibility and ultimate shock value in the end, but clunked around in between. Overall, season 4 neither blew us away nor disappointed, and generally serves as a comfortable placeholder between season 3 and Bandersnatch. #blackmirror #flixin6 #netflix Follow us: Jeremy: @jermz1138 Michael: @naturezvalley Cass: @cassidy_ryyan
We finally made it to season 3! This was easily our favorite season and hands down the strongest of the saga. As per tradition in our recap videos we ranked the episodes (fave to least fave) and here's what we had to chose from: Nosedive, Playtest, Shut up and Dance, San Junipero, Men Against Fire, and Hated in the Nation. Boy is it tough to rank these, but it was incredibly easy for us to all unanimously rank San Junipero as numero uno. What a powerful and emotionally driving episode. Season 2 of Black Mirror takes the show to a whole new level. Here are the episodes in question: White Christmas, Waldo Moment, White Bear, and Be Right Back. Each episode is 100% f'd up in it's own way, and each of which leaves a nasty taste in your mouth. We loved season 2, but season 3 is definitely where the show heats up. Season 1 of Black Mirror was one hell of an introduction to a series. The BBC born dystopian sci-fi opens with a bang (no pun intended) in The National Anthem. 15 Million Merits isn't any happier, and the season concludes with The Entire History of You. Every episode is uniquely terrifying and disturbing, with no real relief until Season 3. We dig into our faves and rank the season, talk about hottest in the season, and even our favorite unsung hero from season 1. Enjoy!
"It's a rip off of A Quiet Place!"...."The plot doesn't even work!"...."how can the monsters take over the world when they're that easy to kill!?!" and so on and so on *facepalm* Listen, when you sign up for a flick like The Silence, you have to suspend disbelief, loosen your seatbelt, turn off your brain and just enjoy the ride. This new sub-genre of sensory deprived thrillers is an awesome shift despite being unbelievably predictable and cheesy. Yes, we've seen this before, but that doesn't mean it can't still be fun. We all recommend this movie, mostly because of the great Stanley Tucci, but generally because it's an easy hour and a half of entertainment. If you're craving some thriller/horror action on Netflix, and you've been browsing for 20 minutes, just commit to this one. It's good enough to get your fix, we promise. We could have very easily purchased one-way tickets to hateville, but honestly we were just feelin this one. Starring Stanley Tucci, Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, John Corbett, and Kate Trotter. Well folks this week it's just Michael and Jeremy in the studio and we brought two picks that couldn't be further apart. Michael brought the Sci-fi channel's The Magicians and broke down why this show holds up and maintains its binge-worthy status. Jeremy watched the documentary Period. End of Sentence, a film that explores menstruation and its stigma in India. Despite its brief runtime of only about 30 minutes, it packs an emotional punch and concludes with a sense of victory and empowerment. Enjoy the episode and have a great weekend!
