A well-placed threat to Edmure Tully reveals the truth. The Blackfish swam away in the night. All search parties have come up empty to this point. He meets with Sybell and Jeyne Westerling. Jeyne is still in mourning over the death of her husband King Robb and isn't afraid to let Jaime see it. On the other hand, Sybell speaks of her role in Robb's death and preventing Jeyne from getting pregnant. She wants good marriages for her children in return, as promised by Tywin. Jaime agrees, but also tells her to stay out of his way until she leaves for the west.He crosses the Tumblestone and meets with Edwyn Frey and Walder Rivers. They inform him that Edwyn's father Ryman was hanged on his way back to the Twins. Edwyn thinks his brother Black Walder is responsible. Jaime isn't broken up about it and notices Edwyn's eyes are dry too.One night he dreams of his mother. She says Tywin wanted him to be a great knight and Cersei a queen. Jaime says they both met those goals, but his mother only sheds a tear. Jaime wakes to snow falling on Riverrun. With it, the hope for one more harvest is gone. 2016's Gods of Egypt was meant to be a significant franchise starter for Lionsgate, mixing Egyptian mythology and fantasy in a way that should have been explosive but landed with a thud. Director Alex Proyas, who directed a few seminal classics, including The Crow and Dark City, did his best to deliver an exciting fantasy film. Still, critics were savage, and audiences stayed away. In the end, it lost an estimated $90 million, despite the presence of Gerard Butler and Game of Thrones' favorite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Is it as bad as people remember? Slovenski naslov filma Okus strasti povsem nazorno predstavi njegovo vsebino. Zgodba namreč spremlja kuharico Eugénie, ki živi in dela pri gastronomu Dodinu Bouffantu, večina dogajanja pa je osredotočenega na njuno skupaj strastno pripravljanje slastnih jedi. Obenem sta tudi par in tako dobimo vpogled še v njuno romantično strast. Ta je sicer nekoliko bolj umirjena, saj je dogajanje postavljeno na francosko podeželje v začetek 20. stoletja, zaradi česar je nujno izkazovanje romantike podvrženo določeni meri zadržanosti in družbenih protokolov, ki so nam danes morda tuji. Vseeno niti za trenutek ne podvomimo v iskrenost njune ljubezni ali v njuno enakopravnost v odnosu. Režiser Tran Anh Hung se je s svojim drugim francoskim filmom lotil predelave literarne klasike, ki je sicer nimamo v slovenskem prevodu, njen avtor Marcel Rouff pa sodi med pionirje pisanja o gastronomskih užitkih. Hungov film te užitke mojstrsko prelije v žive podobe, k temu pa izdatno pripomoreta tudi Juliette Binoche in Benoît Magimel v glavnih vlogah. Ne le, da izkažeta izjemno mero žara in strasti drug do drugega, prav fascinantno je opazovati, kako vešča sta v pripravi hrane in s kako predanostjo se lotevata kuhe. Žanrsko je Okus strasti romanca in to odlična, prehranski vidik pa ga uvršča tudi v vse bolj priljubljen podžanr gurmanskih filmov. Za te je značilno, da pripravo hrane predstavljajo s skoraj erotičnim žarom, pri čemer je hrana včasih metafora za druge pomembne življenjske stvari, denimo ljubezen ali kreativnost. Posamezni gurmanski vložki so sicer že desetletja stalnica kriminalk in filmov borilnih veščin iz Hong Konga in Japonske, kjer pogosto služijo kot lahkoten premor za umirjanje tempa in napetosti, ko denimo med obleganjem gangster pripravi pojedino za svojo ekipo ali talce. Obenem je vloga chefa tudi izziv za igralce, da izpilijo lastne spretnosti, tako smo lahko pod prste gledali hollywoodskim zvezdnikom, kot so Jon Favreu, Bradley Cooper in Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, pri nas pa tudi Juriju Zrnecu in Klemnu Janežiču. V zadnjih letih je gurmanski film napredoval do te mere, da smo začeli dobivati že revizionistične poskuse žanra. Tako je denimo predlanska danska drama Okus lakote prikaz propada v katerega obsesija s hrano žene uspešnega chefa in njegovo družino, medtem ko lanski srhljivi triler Mení prikaže chefa kot vodjo kulta, ki gastronomijo uporabi kot orožje za množično uničenje. No, Okus strasti je nasprotje tega – film poln topline, romantike, ljubezni in drugih slastnih dobrot.

Ridley Scott's terrific depiction of the events of the Battle of Mogadishu kicks off Operations week as we watch 2001's BLACK HAWK DOWN. I thought I was being so clever picking this, with the disastrous events of Operation Gothic Serpent in which US troops extracted General Mohamed Farrah Aidid from the Somali capital at a terrible human cost providing the backdrop to a memorable scene of impromptu battlefield femoral artery surgery. If I'd patted myself on the back any harder at the idea of picking a movie that featured a memorable operation within a memorable operation I'd have broken my own spine so naturally when a listener offers up an example of an operation within an operation within an operation for us to discuss in this week's main episode it crushed my fragile ego to oblivion. Bravo listener! Also bravo to Ridley Scott, who delivers up a still spectacular looking by today's standards action masterpiece with an incredible cast of, well, too many to mention really but Tom Sizemore, Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor, Orlando Bloom, William Fichtner, Jason Isaacs, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Jeremy Piven, Ioan Gruffudd, Sam Shepard, Ewen Bremner, Ashton Kutcher and Tom Hardy debuting here as 'Thomas'. You can see the influence this had on video game franchises, with everything from its saturated colour palette to its pro-military but anti-war themes copied comprehensively in first person shooters. "Against The Ice" is a survival film based on a true story with deep ties to Danish history. Emmy-nominated "Game Of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau co-wrote the screenplay about Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen's (who he also plays in the film) expedition in Greenland, which left him and his volunteer mate Iver Iversen (played by Joe Cole) stranded for over two years in an unforgivingly cold and harsh environment.
