With Tony Gilroy's hit Star Wars series returning with a massive 3-episode premiere for its second season, Greg & John give their Andor Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, & Spoiler Review!! Covering Episode 1 "One Year Later," Episode 2 "Sagrona Teema," & Episode 3 "Harvest," Andor Season 2 picks up 1 Year after the events of the first season with Cassion now deep inside the heart of the rebellion; as he attempts to bring back a stolen TIE Fighter, Andor is stranded, setting off a chain reaction that leads to even greater tensions as Bix, Brasso, & the other allies are subject, first hand, to imperial tyranny.. Elsewhere in the galaxy, Mon Mothma struggles with her crumbling alliances & mental state as her daughter's wedding day (to the son of a powerful & dubious man) fast approaches... Season 2 assembles a powerhouse cast as Cassian Andor (Diego Luna, known for Rogue One and Narcos) deepens his role in the Rebel Alliance. Standing by his side is Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona, celebrated for Triple Frontier and Good Omens) and the ever‑determined Syril Karn (Kyle Soller, from Poldark and Doll & Em). Denise Gough returns as the uncompromising Dedra Meero (Seven Seconds, How to Get Away with Murder), while Genevieve O'Reilly reprises Mon Mothma (Rogue One, Obi‑Wan Kenobi) with her trademark resolve. Guiding the clandestine network is Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård, acclaimed for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Chernobyl), and the irrepressible droid K‑2SO is back under the voice of Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One). Ben Mendelsohn makes a dramatic return as Director Krennic (Rogue One, Bloodline), and Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes) is also rumored to return as Kino Loy. Rounding out the ensemble are Vel Sartha (Faye Marsay, known for Game of Thrones and Black Mirror), Brasso (Joplin Sibtain, of Troy: Fall of the City and Spooks), and the quietly powerful Wilmon (Muhannad Bhaier, from Mariah: The Diva, the Demons, the Drama) as the rebellion's unsung heroes. It took some time for writer/director J C Chandor to break into the movie business. When he did, it was with the mini-budget Margin Call, a film that would snag him an Oscar nomination. Since then, he's brought to the screen All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year, Triple Frontier and now Kraven The Hunter, arguably his highest profile feature to date. In this special episode, he talks through his new film, and a whole lot more... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
I did not have esteemed auteur director, Richard Linklater, swerving into Rom-coms i my 2024 bingo. Other than being a tiny bit superficial and slight, this film is an utter blast. Very funny and with two of the most engaging leads of the year. Glen Powell excels as the titular fake hit man (based on a very real person) and for fans of Triple Frontier, finally Hollywood seems to be catching on to the gorgeous, electric presence of Adria Arjona. Think Grosse Point Blank more than Pretty Woman.
What we watched: Triple Frontier. Why we watched it: Oscar Isaac and Pedro Pascal. What we thought: This mess of a plot was not worth the Ben Affleck jump scare.Patreon • Tumblr • Instagram

Kathleen from Plenty of Sunshine Travel met with Cindy from Norwegian Cruise Line for this week's cruise chat. . We discussed Cindy's experience cruising on Norwegian Spirit to The French Polynesian Islands and Hawaii. This itinerary is not frequently offered and is part of NCL's Extraordinary Journeys. This special cruise goes to Papeete, Tahiti Moorea, French Polynesia Raiatea, French Polynesia Hilo, Hawaii Kahului, Maui Nāwiliwili, Kaua`i Honolulu, Oahu. . It also goes the other direction starting in Honolulu, Oahu and ending in Papeete, Tahiti. It also goes the other direction starting in Honolulu, Oahu and ending in Papeete, Tahiti. The dates for this cruise that starts in Tahiti are September 27 - October 9, 2023. November 14 - November 26, 2023. June 5, 2024 - June 17, 2024. . If you want to start in Hawaii, the available dates are September 15 - September 27, 2023. November 2, 2023- November 14, 2023. November 26- December 8, 2023. While in Tahiti & Hawaii, you should extend your stay! Oahu is steeped with history, beaches, and beautiful mountains you can climb. In fact, Cindy climbed one of those gorgeous mountains. What an accomplishment! The view from up top is fantastic, as is the knowledge that you succeeded in climbing it! . Bring a good pair of hiking shoes. Your feet will thank you. . Hawaii has it all, from the colonial architecture to the powdered sand beaches and the trees reminiscent of many shows like Lost Hawaii Five-0 and Jurassic Park. From downtown Oahu, a mere 45-minute drive, you can visit a horse ranch surrounded by majestic mountains you will visit the set of Jurassic Park, Godzilla, 50 first dates, Soul Surfer, Snatched, Triple Frontier, and so many more. Cindy was there over the American Thanksgiving, so she had the opportunity to see parades and had a chance to feast on traditional Thanksgiving food. Cindy then went to the Cruise port after three fabulous days in Hawaii and had the opportunity to explore Norwegian Spirit. Norwegian Spirit has a Guest Capacity of 2032 passengers when completely filled. She was built in 1998 but was refurbished in 2022. So, she looks brand new and modern. Norwegian Spirit is 268 meters long (880 feet). She can get into the authentic ports in Tahiti that the larger ships can't. The adults-only section on NCL Spirit has a pool at the aft of the ship that you could sit in for sail away and enjoy the warm water as you depart from each port.Cindy and her mom were very excited that when they embarked on the ship in Honolulu, they were each given a Hawaiian lei necklace to wear with beautiful fresh flowers that were fragrant with the fresh Hawaiian scent. . Cindy found exploring Maui to be very easy. The locals suggested a few other sites to see by yourself, you can do a tour through the cruise line, or I could arrange a tour with my personal contacts. In Tahiti, Cindy and her mother visited a vanilla farm. This vanilla had a different flavour than what you will typically find in the stores or the vanilla from Madagascar. This vanilla is perfect for baking, has a hint of sweetness and is a full-bodied fragrant vanille. You will need to visit this farm when you cruise Tahiti. . Enjoy!
This week on The First Run, Matt and Chris discuss the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the introduction of potentially its most powerful hero, ‘Captain Marvel'. Can Marvel's first female driven super-hero film breakout of the franchise's well performing and well known formula, or is it hampered by it? And what's up with that darn cat? Next up is the Netflix original, ‘Triple Frontier', starring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaacs, and a whole bunch more. Exactly what does ensue when a group of retired Special Ops guys decide to pull off the heist of the century? We can confirm it's not wackiness. There's the always stunningly exciting rundown of the big releases on Blu-Ray & DVD, featuring the Straight to DVD and Streaming Picks of the Week. Finally, it's bracket time as Chris and Matt decide which film has the best chance of being their favorite this summer! You can fill out your own bracket here: 2019 Summer Movie Bracket00:00-13:31: Intro/Captain Marvel13:32-20:17: Blu-Ray & DVD Picks20:18-26:48: Triple Frontier26:49-45:32: 2019 Summer Movie Bracket45:33-47:30: Wrap UpTheme music provided by Jamal Malachi Ford-Bey
It's a sampler platter of movies this week on Breakfast All Day, from indies to foreign films, great stuff to middling stuff. A very stuffy Alonso overcomes his allergies to join Christy in reviews of the all-star Netflix action thriller "Triple Frontier," the subtly powerful Chinese drama "Ash Is Purest White" (with a tour de force performance from Zhao Tao, above), the dull and safe post-World War II romance "The Aftermath" and the French film "Sorry Angel," about two men who fall in love in the midst of the AIDS epidemic. We also have a bit of movie news: the fallout from the college admissions scandal and how it's hurt Lori Loughlin's career (because any excuse to discuss Hallmark Channel movies is good for Alonso) and the announcement that James Gunn will once again direct the third "Guardians of the Galaxy."
When five friends, all retired from active duty in the US military, decide to pull a heist on a cartel boss in Brazil their lives go in a direction that they were desperately trying to avoid. A story of greed and brutal circumstances that comes off more like a result of self-sabotage than the results of external enemies stars Oscar Isaac, Pedro Pascal, Charlie Hunnam, Ben Affleck, Garrett Hedlund, and Adria Arjona. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5939723/advertisement
Julia and Donny checked out Ben Affleck's "Triple Frontier" on Netflix. Both give it a B. Karly Kloss and Christian Siriano in Andy's Clubhouse. Guest is Chris Hewitt Star-Tribune movie critic.
Netflix Audience Numbers Netflix audience numbers have been a mystery for some time now. World wide Netflix has 130 million subscribers but what and how much they are watching have never been disclosed by the streaming service. In a letter to shareholders Netflix has revealed some of its audience numbers and plans for 2019. We present and discuss this letter on today's show. In its first 4 weeks on Netflix, we estimate that Bird Box from director Susanne Bier will be enjoyed by over 80 million member households, and we are seeing high repeat viewing. In combination with our other movie hits such as: Dumplin' from director Anne Fletcher, Chris Columbus-produced The Christmas Chronicles, Alfonso Cuarón's critically acclaimed ROMA, Paul Greengrass' 22 July, Tamara Jenkins' Private Life and the Coen brothers' The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, we are beginning to have our original movie offering mirror the success of our series offering for consumer enjoyment. The global reach of our audience and the quality of the experience producing for Netflix continues to attract the world's top directors. We are expanding the film market: while our films drew bigger and bigger audiences in Q4, the North American box office also set records. Today, five weeks after its Netflix debut, ROMA is still being exhibited in theaters and has played on over 900 unique screens around the world, including some special 70mm format presentations. People love films...at home and in theaters. Around the world, our titles are not only pleasing consumers, but they are transforming the careers of our talent. Elite, our Spanish original, has been a huge success with over 20 million member households around the world enjoying the series in its first four weeks on service. In addition to being highly watched, social engagement has been phenomenal and the cast's popularity on social media skyrocketed, continuing to demonstrate our ability to be a launching pad for talent. We were very pleased with our launch of ”You” three weeks ago; we estimate it will be watched by over 40 million member households in its first 4 weeks on Netflix. This binge-worthy show started as a Lifetime linear series in the US, but is now a full Netflix global original. A week ago, we launched Sex Education from the UK and it is also tracking to be a huge hit (estimated over 40 million households watching the title within the first 4 weeks). Netflix films and TV shows picked up five 2019 Golden Globe wins, including Best Comedy Series for The Kominsky Method and Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Michael Douglas and Best Actor in a Drama Series for Richard Madden from Bodyguard. Alfonso Cuarón won the Golden Globe for Best Feature Director and Best Foreign Language Feature for ROMA. As a result of our success with original content, we're becoming less focused on 2nd run programming. For example, we launched our originals strategy for the unscripted genre only two years ago. Today, Netflix originals, like Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, account for a majority of total unscripted view share on Netflix, while viewing of all unscripted programming has increased meaningfully during that time. We are ready to pay top-of-market prices for second run content when the studios, networks and producers are willing to sell, but we are also prepared to keep our members ecstatic with our incredible original content if others choose to retain their content for their own services. Looking forward in 2019, we will be launching many new highly-anticipated titles including The Umbrella Academy (February 15th); Triple Frontier from J.C. Chandor (March); The Irishman from Martin Scorsese; 6 Underground from Michael Bay; and The Politician from Ryan Murphy; as well as returning seasons of The Crown led by a new cast including Olivia Colman, Ben Daniels, and Helena Bonham Carter; 13 Reasons Why, La Casa de Papel, Elite, and, of course, Season 3 of the epic Stranger Things, coming to members all around the world on July 4th. In the US, we earn around 10% of television screen time2 and less than that of mobile screen time. In other countries, we earn a lower percentage of screen time due to lower penetration of our service. We earn consumer screen time, both mobile and television, away from a very broad set of competitors. We compete with (and lose to) Fortnite more than HBO. When YouTube went down globally for a few minutes in October, our viewing and signups spiked for that time. Hulu is small compared to YouTube for viewing time, and they are successful in the US, but non-existent in Canada, which creates a comparison point: our penetration in the two countries is pretty similar. There are thousands of competitors in this highly-fragmented market vying to entertain consumers and low barriers to entry for those with great experiences. Our growth is based on how good our experience is, compared to all the other screen time experiences from which consumers choose. Our focus is not on Disney+, Amazon or others, but on how we can improve our experience for our members.
For Episode 121, myself, Will Mavity, Michael Schwartz, Ryan C. Showers, Josh Parham, Cody Derricks & Tom O'Brien give our reactions to the SAG and Critics Choice Nominations. We also go over our predictions for tomorrow's reveal of the Academy's shortlists for Best Makeup & Hairstyling, Best Visual Effects, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Documentary, Best Original Score and Best Original Song. We talk about the polls and the trailer for J.C. Chandor's newest film "Triple Frontier." Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on...
