Nick shines a light on Shia LaBeouf's two turns as Saturday Night Live host—both surprisingly strong, both likely his last. Packed with standout sketches and offbeat moments, the episodes featured Shia as a bizarrely delightful version of magician Doug Henning on a twisted Match Game, and as one half of a duo of underage knuckleheads scheming to score beer with Andy Samberg. There's also a nod to Indiana Jones and a solid lineup of SNL regulars including Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Kenan Thompson, Maya Rudolph, and Fred Armisen. Nick shares behind-the-scenes stories from the tapings and wraps things up with Shia's wild retelling of his late-night Walgreens arrest on The Late Show with David Letterman. A look back at a talented, unpredictable host who nailed it—and probably won't be back. [EP 124]

Few contemporary actors better represent the bravado and edginess of New York City natives than Natasha Lyonne. Over a four-decade career that began with a role on Pee-wee’s Playhouse, Lyonne has become known for portraying characters that are gruff but likable, hard-nosed but sympathetic. She’s exhibited these traits in films ranging from Everyone Says I Love You to American Pie; but her brashness truly hit the mainstream in 2013, upon the release of Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black. That show kicked off a run on television that has found her as the creator and star of recent hits such as Russian Doll and Poker Face, the latter of which just released its much-anticipated second season. On this week’s episode of Table for Two, the actress joins host Bruce Bozzi to discuss New Yorkers’ street smarts, why she loves Richard Pryor’s Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling, and the genius of Maya Rudolph.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We've said it before, but the 90s were the peak time for "chick"-fronted alternative rock bands. There were so many good ones and among them was that dog. fronted by this week's guest, Anna Waronker. They only managed three albums, but they made a great impression. Anna put out a couple solo albums, but she also pivoted to making music for TV which she's done successfully for a while. She currently does the music for Yellowjackets with musical partner Craig Wedren of fellow 90s survivors Shudder to Think. We discuss her whole career, her legendary dad Lenny (who was just accepted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame), her famous friends like Maya Rudolph and Jack Black, her husband Steve McDonald of the band Redd Kross (she did the music for the recent documentary on the band which is now available to rent at the link below), and a ton more. That Show Hasn't Been Funny In Years: an SNL podcast on Radio Misfits

Nick takes a deep dive into one of the best seasons of Saturday Night Live ever: Season 26, which aired from October 2000 to May 2001. Fueled by a memorable election and a powerhouse cast, this season delivered sharp comedy and some of the most iconic sketches in SNL history. Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon took over the Weekend Update desk, while veteran cast members like Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan, Molly Shannon, Darrell Hammond, and newcomers like Maya Rudolph and Rachel Dratch kept the laughs coming. You'll hear some of the most unforgettable sketches from this standout season, including the legendary debate sketch featuring "strategery" and "lockbox," and the Jeffrey's Clothing Store sketch with the world's smallest cell phone. Nick also shares behind-the-scenes stories—including the shocking moment when someone actually broke their neck during an episode—and revisits the work of some fantastic hosts, including Christopher Walken, Calista Flockhart, Tom Green, Julia Stiles, and Sean Hayes. Season 26 was a high point for SNL, and this episode brings back all the best moments! [Ep 115]

Les, Kurt, and Jason were ready to rub the lamp, throw a coin in a fountain, or blow out a candle to conjure up SOMETHING from this week's movie, Hallmark's The Wish Swap, but so far they haven't had any traction. Blac Chyna is getting traction for an appearance on Piers Morgan's show, and Maya Rudolph is getting an apology from Kurt if Les and Jason have any say! Then it's time to wish that something happens in The Wish Swap, but the movie can't even produce simple details like a town where the movie is set, the last name of the host of a wildly popular television show, or an explanation as to why this show had no live audience. This would have benefitted tremendously from a good dose of Aunt Gert, but instead there's a lassoing at a farm montage that even Les couldn't get on board with. Somebody should have wished for another pass at the script.    Bluesky: lifetimeofhallmark Facebook : lifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Threads: lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast TikTok: lifetimeofhallmarkpod Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

The funny thing is,  people see it more as an ever-evolving transition from a comedy film to a sad documentary. We find that funny too. So join us as we go back to 2006 and see just how much the movie is getting right with society today.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.public.newsIn mid-September, NBC Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels told the Hollywood Reporter that neither Kamala Harris nor Donald Trump would be on the show because doing so would be illegal. “You can't bring the actual people who are running on because of election laws and the equal time provisions,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “You can't have the main candidates without having all the candidates, and there are lots of minor candidates that are only on the ballot in, like, three states and that becomes really complicated.”But last night, Michaels broke his promise and put Harris on air in a cameo with actress Maya Rudolph. “This is a clear and blatant effort to evade the FCC's Equal Time rule,” said Federal Communications Commissioner Brenand Carr, “The purpose of the rule is to avoid exactly this type of biased and partisan conduct - a licensed broadcaster using the public airwaves to exert its influence for one candidate on the eve of an election.”In a podcast interview with me this morning on X, (listen above) Carr added, “There's no question that NBC, SNL both know this law and know exactly what they did.”

When Saturday Night Live asked Dana Carvey to play Joe Biden for this season, few anticipated that the president would drop out of the race over concerns about age. SNL itself turns 50 this year, ancient by TV standards, and doesn't appear to be close to dropping out. The water cooler buzz over Carvey's Biden and Maya Rudolph's spot-on Kamala Harris impression suggests that the show still has legs. But can it maintain its relevance amid declining ratings and politics that sometimes seem beyond parody? We mark the show's anniversary by looking back at its cultural influence and some of the most iconic sketches, from Weekend Update to Wayne's World. Guests: Eric Deggans, tv critic, National Public Radio (NPR) Joanna Robinson, senior staff writer, The Ringer; author, MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios Stephen Tropiano, professor of screen studies, Ithaca College Los Angeles Program; author, The newly revised and updated book "The SNL Companion: An Unofficial Guide to the Seasons, Sketches, and Stars of Saturday Night Live"

If there was such a thing as the American ambassador to 60s French Pop it would have to be Elinor Blake, better known as April March. Elinor began her professional career in the world of animation back in the early 80s before she took on the April March rock and roll alter-ego. You've probably heard her music over the last few decades classic cartoons like The Ren and Stimpy Show and I Am Weasel and cult favorite films including But I'm A Cheerleader and Death Proof. She's rubbed shoulders with all kinds of heavy figures in the entertainment world, including Ronnie Spector, Pee Wee Herman, Frank Zappa, Maya Rudolph, and numerous figues in classic and contemporary Franch pop. In this episode of No Dumb Questions, we dive deep into the world of TV writing and what it truly takes to make it in Hollywood. As someone who's always been captivated by the entertainment industry, today's topic is particularly exciting for me. And to make it even better, we have an extraordinary guest who's worked on incredible shows like Loot and Superstore—plus, she's collaborated with comedy royalty like Maya Rudolph! Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to Vicky Luu —an incredibly talented writer and producer in her own right. This episode feels especially personal because Vicky is not only a powerhouse in Hollywood, but she's also my partner Ray's older sister ;) We're going to explore Vicky's journey from her early days as a Production Assistant on shows like Family Guy and the 90210 reboot, to her rise as Co-Executive Producer of hit series like Superstore and Loot. Over the past two years, I've come to see just how humble and down-to-earth Vicky is, despite her quiet success. She's truly one of the most genuine people I've met in this industry. So, let's give a warm welcome to Vicky Luu!
