On this episode we discuss Striking Vipers episode from the Netflix show Black Mirror. Striking Vipers deals with a virtual reality game played between two friends and the decisions that were made. Black Mirror is an anthology series with 5 seasons and 22 episodes that explores technology and what it can cause. I had tried to watch the pilot episode and ended up not finishing it, but a friend chose this specific episode to talk about because for her love of video games and also how it really makes you think. Black Mirror Cocktail (wine dharma.com): 3 cl of Grappa 1 cl of nocino 2 cl of sweet vermouth 1 cl of saba 1 anise 3 drops of orange bitter sugar Pour the saba and the nocino in a glass and infuse the anise for 10 minutes. Recover the anise. Put the grappa, nocino, saba, vermouth and the orange bitter in a shaker full of ice, shake for 10 seconds and then pour into a well-frozen cup. Take the anise with the tongs, set it on fire with a torch and, while holding it over the glass, let the icing sugar fall on top. Be careful no to burn your eyebrows, or really anything. Just like video games, some VR apps/experiences have multi-player social interaction which opens the child up to cursing, harassment and other bad actor behavior. Approach this the same way you do with video games to protect the child. We suggest you also use this as an opportunity to help prepare them and coach them about/ through bullying as you need to do with uncontrollable social interactions at school or elsewhere. Share your feedback and feature requests with the XR companies through their websites or on social media in order to amplify the need for more integrated and reliable parental controls.

Mit drei neuen Installationen geht "Black Mirror" in die fünfte Staffel. In den in sich geschlossenen Folgen mahnen die Showrunner Charlie Broker (Drehbuch) und Annabel Jones (Produktion) vor den Gefahren der Technik. Wir nehmen die drei Episoden unter die Lupe und zeigen auf was das Thema der Folge ist, worin der Bezug zu unserer Gegenwart liegt und welche Verbindungen zu anderen "Black Mirror"-Episoden versteckt sind. Zudem küren wir unsere Lieblings-Szenen und -Zitate und verraten welche technische Entwicklung aus der Folge wir uns auch in der Realität vorstellen könnten. Zum Auftakt "Striking Vipers" begeben wir uns in die Abgründe von Videospielen und Pornographie und diskutieren was die Episode interessant macht und wo sie Potenzial verschenkt. Charlie Brooker kicks of his fifth season of Netflix’s show, Black Mirror with Striking Vipers! **Damn it feels good to be home. Though it didn’t pack the same punch as Entire History of You or National Anthem, it had a point and made it well. Anthony Mackie did a great job as did the entire cast, and overall the show had a great feel to it.  A wonderful perspective on the addictive tendencies we have towards social media and the digital landscape as a whole.  What does it say about relationships in the future?
