This week I was joined by Stephen Marchant who is the President for Growth and Strategy at Chameleon Communications International. On this episode we talked about nurturing talent in healthcare comms and why it's so important for the scale and mentality of a healthcare comms agency. For me, this topic was really interesting as I'm in recruitment myself and know this topic/agenda doesn't get taken seriously in some agencies. It's a huge factor in the wellbeing of a business from growth plans all the way up to the wellbeing of each employee. It's amazing to hear from someone who is championing this process throughout their agency. Alongside this, Stephen has been in the world of healthcare comms since the mid 90's, and he was Chameleons 44th employee they hired (which was almost 16 years ago). He has a wealth of experience/knowledge and has held various senior roles within one of the leading healthcare comms agencies across the UK. On a personal note, I really enjoyed speaking with Stephen he came across very down to earth, smart, intelligent and it seemed to me like he wasn't afraid to tackle important issues that most people wouldn't like to touch. One thing that really struck me though, was how passionate he is about the role he's currently doing, and just in general being hugely passionate about improving the people around him, he loves it. On this week's podcast, I was joined by Co-Founder of NexGen Healthcare Communications, Elif Fincanci-Smith. It was great getting someone like her on the podcast, she has so much experience in this industry. She's worked at some of the biggest agencies within healthcare communications. Fast forward to 2020, and she's the co-founder of NexGen, alongside co-founding directors Simon Harris and Richard Evans. They've been going strong for the last 6 years opening offices in Oxford and London, with a headcount of around 35 people. For me, getting Elif to talk about her past, but more importantly her journey with NexGen was really interesting. They started off working from their kitchen tables around 6 years ago. It's been going from strength-to-strength each year. Speaking with Elif for the last couple of hours was a really nice experience and finding out more about how each co-founder of the business has a huge benefit to their business model in a unique way was extremely refreshing. They've got a great story about how they came up with the business name, priceless! I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I have. This was also the first ever podcast the healthcare comms recorded; I think it was the same on Elif's side also. Newbies to podcasting! Watch out for Elifs quick-fire mini-series on Wednesday.

I could go on...). I hope you enjoy listening, and look out for more podcast episodes next week.
This week I was joined by Brett O'Connor, the Co-Founder and Executive Creative Director of VCCP Health for me, getting someone like Brett O'Connor on the podcast was an absolute must. We talked about his creative addiction and obsession from the very first job in the advertising world (you'll find out how he got his first job in advertising, what a story that was), all the way up until now in healthcare communications it was clear his passion for art and creative work is 2nd to none and something a lot of leaders and people should look up to we talked about how the role @ VCCP Health came around, which was amazingly insightful, from plush office's in McCann to make-shift desks in the VCCP building Brett talked about how the industry has changed over the last 2 decades, which for me was interesting as a lot of stuff that happened back then would definitely not happen in today's world I'd love to hear your feedback on this, so any comments are welcome I may have mis-introduced him @ one-point, if you can spot it, I'll buy you a coffee enjoy listening and watch out for Brett's quick-fire mini-series podcast over the next few days
