**A Greek and English swear warning in this episode***If you've watched or listened to Australian prime-time news any time in the last 30 years, it's likely you'll recognise the face and voice of our guest in this episode of Three Food Memories. And if you've watched social media at any time in your life, it's likely you'll have heard her swearing in Greek too.Chris Bath has been in the media since 1988, but it was working as a waitress in a Surry Hills restaurant (that later turned into a leather bar) that brought her to our screens. Direct from her Bird-Nerd Farm in the lower Hunter Valley, hear how growing up with Maltese mates fuelled a desire to see (and eat) the world, how mutual love of a spicy condiment made her fall in love with her husband Jim, the truth behind the infamous Greek swearing that went viral…and how the phrase became useful later on! Bathie's social cause is Birdlife Australia - you can find out more here: birdlife.org.auA risotto with farm greens is on it's way to our next guest (coming soon in Season 6)We'll be back October 1 - put it in your diaries! In this episode of Three Food Memories we're graced with a voice that is nothing short of sublime - it is as beautiful as it is haunting, and resonant with the echoes of a thousand ancestral stories.Deborah Cheetham Fraillon AO, is a luminous star in the constellation of classical music — an opera singer, composer, artistic director, and professor. Music runs in the family, she's the niece of music legend Jimmy Little and her grandfather was a talented gum leaf player, who performed at the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.Hear Deborah's musings on the restorative benefits of chicken soup, how seeing Dame Joan Sutherland perform in The Merry Widow as a school kid completely changed her life, what it was like to connect with her Aboriginal heritage and the joy of finding her biological family, competitive Christmas trifle making, and how Bar Italia in Leichardt may receive an operetta in it's name one day soon. Deborah's social cause is truth telling - she believes it's the foundation of any society that's going to remain cohesive. She says “the truth makes us stronger, even if it causes us pain in the moment of knowing”.She pays forward a steak with red wine jus, asparagus and creamy mash to our next guest Chris Bath. Chris Bath has been a much loved and respected journalist since the late 80's and many of us, including myself, grew up watching her on our TV screens. She's interviewed Presidents, Prime Ministers and popstars, and pushed herself way outside her comfort zone when she carved up the dance floor on Dancing with the Stars! Chris met her husband Jim Wilson at work. The news anchor fell in love with the sports anchor, it's like something out of a movie, and very funny! In 2015, Chris resigned from Channel 7 where she'd worked for 20 years, and before she knew it, she'd fallen head over heels for another industry... farming. She's got one grown up son, and now lives full time on a farm in the Lower Hunter in NSW...she's an accidental beekeeper with an incredible love for the land. How she ended up here is quite the tale, and you're going to love her! This is her story. How do you feel about birds? Those feathered friends that screech at daybreak, poop on your back deck, and swoop you in springtime. OK - so maybe that’s a harsh assessment, but I think it’s how many of us think about birds. And yet - there are 10,000 different species of bird around the world ranging from tiny hummingbirds to massive ostriches. They are pretty astounding creatures. So how can we can better appreciate them?I’ve brought in the biggest bird enthusiast I know - journalist and broadcaster Chris Bath. As she explains, she has been a keen birdwatcher for some time thanks to her son, and her passion for birds has taken her around the world to some very unusual places. You can find Chris on Twitter @chrisbathtv, and see her many bird adventures on Instagram @chrisbath. The one where Gareth Reynolds regales us his story of suckling at the teet of MTV while delivering a show without one core ingredient. The very funny co-host of The Dollop podcast Gareth joins me live from his couch in LA while I sat in an office chair in Brisbane, Australia. Thanks technology. There's discussion of Trump as a legitimate US Presidential Candidate, the leaving of Chris Bath and Gareth shows his skill in Pick A Box Of Pot Luck with his special topic being Mr Show. Women in Media NSW is pleased to announce that the third Women in Media networking event on July 30, featuring a panel of successful and thought-provoking journalists speaking on The Confidence Trick, was a huge success. The Eric Bath Band was formed in the summer of '95 after the independent release of my first solo album. I had been writing songs and playing the guitar since the age of 13 but my high school band "The Pact" broke up soon after graduation. Although I continued to write songs and play the guitar the pieces never seemed to fall in place to start a new band. About six months after my wife Brenda & I were married, she encouraged me to go for my dream. So I recorded a solo album at Firebird Recording Studio here in Milwaukee. After the album was recorded opportunities to play became more frequent and it was easier to get a band together with the material in place and a game plan in hand. The band has seen more than its share of personnel changes over the past 10 years, but we are very excited about the most current lineup which includes the addition of Rick Wegner as a second guitarist as well as veterans Steve Campbell on bass guitar and my brother Chris Bath on drums. I round if off playing guitar and carrying the lead vocals and song writing duties. Over the years we have had the opportunity to serve up our own unique brand of original faith based rock-n-roll with flavors of blues, funk, and jazz mixed in for good measure. Overall one of our greatest strengths is in our lyrics which use a lot of humor, wit, and even a little bit of sarcasm to bring forth truths about life, love, & family from a believers perspective. We have been featured on local radio and television as well as at several county fairs "The Mexican Fiesta" (on Milwaukee's famed Summerfest grounds),GODSTOCK(where we cobilled with SKILLET) and other various coffee houses, bookstores, clubs and festivals across the state and in Illinois. Some may call us a Christian Rock Band but I prefer to just be known as a Rock-n-Roll band and let the music speak for itself. Every song is not about Jesus, but every song is written from the perspective of someone who can't live a millisecond without Him. When the Lord is that important to you it can't help but come out in everything you do, especially your music Eric Bath
