In preparation for Lightyear, Arun and Patricia decide to bring PixMinis back where they look back on a Pixar short every day until July 12. In this episode, they discuss about the 2016 Pixar short Piper which paired up with Finding Dory. A baby sandpiper is learning how to get food from the seashore, but when a wave crashed on her, she fears the water and refuses to leave her nest. But when she hungers for food and her mother isn't willing to get her food, Piper builds on her courage and tries again. The short was critically acclaimed by critics and viewers with its story and realistically, detailed animation. In fact, Piper had won the Annie and Academy Awards for Best Animated Short, the first time since For The Birds won in 2001. Did Piper deserve the praise? Sanjay is watching his favorite superhero show while his dad wants him to kneel and pray to the Hindu gods Vishnu, Durga, and Hanuman. When he accidentally fans the flames away from the candle, he imagines the smoke as the demon Ravana and the gods as superheroes. The short, while being nominated for an Annie and an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, has since been overlooked compared to other Pixar shorts. It hasn't helped that it was paired up with The Good Dinosaur, the lowest grossing Pixar film ever and one of the most disliked films of the lineup. The Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity is well underway, as the crowds along the Croisette clearly indicate. But a lot of the action, and heady conversations, are also taking place in the suites and conference rooms of the big hotels that dot the main boulevard of Cannes -- not to mention in the yachts parked in the Vielle Port alongside the Palais where Cannes content and awards are taking place. I was fortunate to have one of those conversations with Arun Kumar, chief data & marketing technology officer for IPG, who's also CEO of IPG's marketing intelligence engine Kinesso, who was my guest on the latest installment of the Digiday Podcast. He's essentially the principal data architect for the entire holding company. Kumar is an outspoken defender of marketers' right to gather data on consumers in ethical ways, and is a big believer that now is the moment for marketers, agencies and ad-tech companies to speak up before further privacy legislation is crafted that could limit or hamper the ability to understand consumer patterns. His concern is that, without input from the industry, legislators will craft rules promoted mostly by privacy advocates. "As an industry we've let ourselves down by not being present at the table," said Kumar, who thinks there should be national standards for privacy rules. "What the marketing industry has done is stood up, and basically put its head over the parapet, got itself shot at, and not done anything to disabuse anyone of those notions [of abuse of data] ... We've now conflated cookies with privacy." If only the marketing world had devised some sort of Hippocratic oath at the outset of the digital era, the industry wouldn't have come under the degree of scrutiny it is getting from legislators. He looked to the medical world as an example to be emulated, where all doctors are held to the fundamental ethical base of do no harm, which influences all their actions. "One of the places we should look forward to is medicine," said Kumar. "No matter where you go in medicine, no matter what you discover, there are certain ethics surrounding it, which come from the principles [the Hippocratic oath]. We as an industry ... have not aligned on what those principles are, we're asking ill-prepared legislators and bureaucrats to solve the problem, and the reality is when you step into the metaverse or other places ... there is going to be more data exhaust that comes out of that."

In today's PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 77 of Owner Stories with Mick from Hampshire in the UK. Mick has fond memories of attending Brands Hatch Circuit in the UK with his dad and brother. One time in the ‘80s, the Porsche 917K lemans cars were brought to the Circuit. This is where Mick fell in love with the Steve McQueen long tail 917K. A memory he will never forget, seeing and hearing the Porsche 917 on track. After getting his license Mick said a lot cars along the way were ‘shit boxes'. Although, there were a couple of memorable cars, these included a MK2 VW Golf – ‘not the best example but a fun car to drive'. Another was the black with gold wheels ‘02 Subaru WRX STI Impreza, a car his dad previously owned. During lockdown in the UK the WRX was sold and couple of electric cars followed. These included a VW ID3 and his current electric the Hyundai Ioniq 5. So, when did Mick buy his first Porsche? Well, that was in 2015, when he purchased a 997.2 Carrera S in manual. Mick was introduced to a car and community that he really enjoyed, he loved his 997 and thought it was a keeper. That was until early 2020 when he found out that Porsche East London had two cancelled GT4 orders, The one Mick was interested in was a very well optioned black GT4 manual with ceramic brakes, buckets, and the very cool Arun gold wheels. Reminiscent of his dads WRX (and a colour combination he loved) the decision was easily made. Mick's 997 is now gone and the GT4 sits in his garage, he couldn't be happier. In this episode of In Search of the Crystal Skull, Patricia and Arun conclude Fantasy Month with the 2005 live action film adapation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis produced by Walt Disney Studios and Walden Media. There are four children named Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy who were sent to live with a professor after their home was threatened by bomb attacks during World War II. When playing hide and seek, Lucy discovers a wardrobe that took her to a magical land named Narnia where she meets a faun named Tumnus. Lucy tries explaining to her siblings what she discovered, but they don't believe her. Eventually, they enter into Narnia after trying to hide from the housekeeper for breaking a window to the house. Edmund meets The White Witch and promises to bring his siblings to her in exchange to being king and Peter, Susan, and Lucy tries to rescue Edmund after learning that The White Witch is evil and trying to prevent fulfilling a prophecy that she would be defeated by the lion Aslan and four humans who were destined to be kings and queens of Narnia. When the film premiered in theaters, it made over $745 million dollars on a $180 million dollar budget. It was praised for being an faithful adaptation of the book while being epic, adventurous, featuring a stellar cast, and visually stunning with his cinematography, settings, and special effects. However, it has since been lost in the shuffle since it came out during the peak of fantasy film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter films. It currently has a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. Did Patricia and Arun conclude Fantasy Month finding treasure or a major disappointment? Listen and find out. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/old-school-lane/support

A princess named Irene has learned that there evil creatures lurking about when she got lost in the woods one evening and was rescued by a young boy named Curdie. He informs her that there are goblins living underground and how to defeat them. One day, she discovers a path to the attic where she meets up with the spirit of her great-great grandmother Irene who gives her a magic thread that will lead her to safety from harm. Meanwhile, the prince of the goblins comes up with the idea to kidnap Princess Irene and force her to marry him so they can take over the surface. Curdie hears this news and rushes to the castle to warn Irene and the king. When the film premiered, it only made $2 million dollars out of its $10 million dollar budget. Total Non-Violence - Arun Gandhi

Born in 1934 in Durban, South Africa, Arun Gandhi is the fifth grandson of India's late spiritual leader, Mohandas Karamchand 11Mahatma" Gandhi. Growing up under South Africa's apartheid was difficult, humiliating and often dangerous. Enduring bigoted attacks from European-African youths for not being "white," and from Native Africans for not being "black," increased the anger that Arun Gandhi bore as a young man. Hoping that time with his grandfather would help the twelve year old Arun control his rage and deal with prejudice through nonviolent means, his parents took him to India to live with "The Mahatma" (great soul) in 1946. Arun's stay with his grandfather coincided with the most tumultuous period in India's struggle to free itself from British rule. His grandfather showed Arun firsthand the effects of a national campaign for liberation carried out through both violent and nonviolent means. For eighteen months, while Gandhi imparted lessons to his grandson, the young man was also witnessing world history unfold before his eyes. This combination set Arun on a course for life. Arun's father, Manilal, Gandhi's second son, spent over sixteen years in prison as he was repeatedly jailed for his efforts to change South African apartheid nonviolently. Arun's mother, Sushila, spent fifty-four years at Gandhi's ashram "Phoenix" outside Durban. After the deaths of Gandhiji and Manilal, Sushila was the ashram's driving force until its destruction in 1985. The community had been in existence for over eighty years. At twenty-three, Arun returned to India and worked as a journalist and reporter for "The Times of India." He, his wife, Sunanda, and several colleagues started the successful economic initiative, India's Center for Social Unity, whose mission is to alleviate poverty and caste discrimination. The Center's success has now spread to over 300 villages, improving the lives of more than 500 thousand rural Indians. Having written four books and hundreds of articles, Dr. Gandhi is an accomplished author and journalist. He and Sunanda published the "Suburban Echo" in Bombay from 1985 - 1987. Arun and Sunanda moved to Oxford, Mississippi in the United States in 1987. At the University of Mississippi, they collected material to compare race issues in the American south, color discrimination in South Africa, and the caste system in India. In October 1991, the Gandhis founded the "M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence." Its mission is to examine, promote, and apply the principles of nonviolent thought and action through research, workshops, seminars and community service.Presentation from the 2012 Ozark Mountain Transformation Conference.FOLLOW US ON:Facebook: https://goo.gl/rwvBfwInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/ozarkmtpubTwitter: https://goo.gl/LunK5DWebsite: https://goo.gl/2d5cX4ASSOCIATED LINKS:Ozark Mountain Publishing, Inc.: https://goo.gl/xhgoAPQuantum Healing Hypnosis Academy: https://goo.gl/64G7RD
