July 1st, 2020, Charleston County Deputy Mike Costanzo was outside of his cruiser on top of the Don Holt Bridge assisting a motorist and his disabled vehicle. In a split second, everything changed. A truck rammed into the back of Costanzo's cruiser hitting Costanzo who suffered traumatic injuries. The incident also claimed the life of tow truck driver Will Ellis who was also on the scene to help.
