You will be able to set goals for yourself, long term goals and learn how to do that, because nothing is immediate with fitness." - Stew Smith"I look at failure as if it's not a failure. In fact, I say get that word out of your vocabulary and call it a learning experience, because you're going to be smarter after this process." - Stew Smith"If we will be intentional of holding that bar high, holding that standard high for our young people, they will rise to meet that.” - Matt BeaudreauActionable Takeaways:The 30-Day Consistency Challenge   - Choose one physical fitness routine you've been avoiding   - Commit to doing it consistently for 30 days, no matter what   - Track your progress and reflect on how consistency changes your mindset and performance      Goal: Prove to yourself that the "best workout is the one you do consistently"Reframe Your Failure Mindset   - For the next 7 days, replace the word "failure" with "learning experience" in your internal dialogue   - After each setback or challenge, write down 3 specific things you learned   - Approach obstacles as experiments, not final verdicts on your capabilities Mental Bandwidth Audit   - List all your current projects, commitments, and side pursuits   - Evaluate which activities truly align with your core goals   - Eliminate or delegate 2-3 low-value activities that drain your mental energy   - Focus on creating congruence between your primary work and side pursuits   - Aim to optimize your mental bandwidth for maximum effectivenessThe Team Support Experiment   - In your next group activity or team project, shift focus from personal performance to team support   - Ask yourself: "How can I ensure my teammates are hydrated, fueled, and taking care of themselves?"   - Practice active listening and providing constructive support   - Observe how this mindset changes team dynamics and individual performanceConclusion: Stew Smith's journey reveals a powerful truth: extraordinary achievement comes from a relentless commitment to growth, resilience, and continuous improvement. Your potential isn't defined by your current abilities, but by your willingness to push beyond perceived limitations. The principles are universal - embrace challenges, reframe failures, stay consistent, and never quit.

Dr. Christopher Smith is a Board-Certified practicing physician who completed his residency and fellowship at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Smith currently lives in Pennsylvania and is a partner with Quantum Imaging and Therapeutic Associates. He dedicates time and resources to raising awareness of homeless children and finding solutions to help them overcome their situation. “Around the age of four, there was a big turning point in my life. My father lost his job at the steel mill. After that my parents struggled financially for the rest of my teenage years. We really had difficulty maintaining housing and lived for months at a time without basic utilities like heat or electricity. “By the time I was 16, my family and I had moved at least a couple dozen times. That year my family got evicted one more time and we had nowhere to go. It was my senior year of high school. My parents and 6 of my siblings stayed in a small motel room. I slept in the truck the entire year, and this was in Utah. It was so cold in winter that sometimes my hair would actually freeze at night. “But I had decided that there was no shortcut in life. I had to work through it and through all these difficult circumstances. I was willing to take risks. I made mistakes. I failed. But that was okay. I kept trying. That's part of the experience, the process and the idea of not quitting when you fail. "A lot of years of my life were very difficult, but I always tried to maintain a positive outlook on my life.  I still always try to see potential, the good in the world now. “The statistical odds of me going from sleeping in a truck as a teenager to completing my medical degree at Johns Hopkins Hospital are so astronomically high that I personally think there was some intervention in my life, somebody looking out for me with the purpose of helping me view my past in a different light and of being able to share that with other people, inspiring them to learn from my past. That was my ultimate reason for writing the book Homeless to Hopkins and a children's version because children in poverty are often the most invisible homeless people of all.”

Send us a textIn this episode Tony channels how Spirit sees Perseverance. The ability to keep going despite all clear physical evidences to quit and give up. There is great power to letting people struggle and persist. It does more than build character. It also builds discipline to those that are watching. A parent that is patient when witnessing their kids tie their shoes for the first time is frustrating to some degree for those watching because they can do it in seconds. Letting the people we care about to go through the process of persisting again and again is vital.   Spirit shows us several examples on taking shortcuts that is convenient for us yet disables others to do even the simplest tasks.  For us as humans to be fully sustainable needs the element of hardship and perseverance.  If you are looking for more answers on this topic listen in and discover more in this podcast. This Meditation only podcast channel with Tony and his Tuning Forks:https://raisingyourspiritsmeditation.buzzsprout.comIn the meditation portion of this podcast we used the Lotus Flower Meditation: Lotus Flower Meditation - ResilienceSupport the showHere is a link to Tony's many classes coming up: https://lovehigherself.com/eventsSubscribe to our YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/susanneandtony17 for Tony's Tuning Fork meditations.Podcast Library: https://raisingyourspirits.buzzsprout.comNew Meditation only Podcast Library: Raising Your Spirits Meditation Podcast (buzzsprout.com)Tony Gyenis conducts free weekly on-line Tuning Fork meditation on Fridays called Tune In with Tony which is a private Facebook group. “You have to have a never quit, never say die attitude. Because even if you're working hard, even if you're coachable and teachable, you are going to have moments in business, many moments in business, where you want to quit. And you're going to have every good reason in the world to quit.”Sales is the lifeblood of any business, and success in it isn't about having a specific personality—it's about discipline, adaptability, and grit. The key to winning in sales is a mix of relentless work ethic, coachability, and an unshakable refusal to quit. If you can embrace rejection, learn from every interaction, and refine your approach, you'll master the game. And beyond making the sale, the real art is in customer retention—reminding clients why they chose you in the first place. People forget the value they receive unless you make it clear, and that's a fundamental business principle.Adam Allred shares his journey from door-to-door sales to multi-million dollar business exits, emphasizing that selling is about energy transfer and authenticity. His insights dismantle the myth that only extroverts thrive in sales—anyone can win if they master the right mindset. He also highlights how market adaptation is crucial, recounting his experiences adjusting sales techniques based on regional differences.Adam Allred is a serial entrepreneur with a background in door-to-door sales, having built and sold multiple businesses, including a garbage company and a pest control empire. What's up everyone, great to be back after another hiatus... (I address this more in the show) I've decided that I am going to do things a little differently for now. I will now be dropping 2 shorter episodes PER week so that I can deliver some more content to you guys more often. I will keep this at 1 topic or 1 story per video. This also gives us a better chance of really growing this podcast into what I believe it can become. In this episode I detail an important reversion that is taking place right now with my childhood best friend, and WHY it is important for all of us to pray, suffer and fast for the conversion and reversion of souls. In the industry of self-improvement and personal and professional development, we are all familiar with the concept of not quitting. Staying committed. But in my experience, personally and in working with so many other aspiring people, we very often confuse the meaning of staying committed and not quitting. Here is a quick analogy: the Superbowl is coming up soon. Each team is committed to getting to the end zone and scoring. That is what they stay committed to. They don't quit striving for it. But to get there they run plays. Imagine if they ran a play and it didn't work. But somebody was yelling, “Hey, don't quit! Stay committed to the plan and run that same play again!” So they do, and it doesn't work again. But, don't quit! So they run it again. Hold on. The plan is not the play. The plan is getting to the endzone. If that play doesn't work, try a different play. So in your life, what is the end goal, result, or destination? The plan is to get there. Stay committed. Don't quit. But you may need to try a lot of methods to get there. Let's break it down a bit more. And this wraps up my series with world record mountain climber Jenn Drummond as my muse. You can find her on the Seek Your Next Summit podcast and her new book is, Break Proof: 7 Strategies To Build Resilience and Achieve Your Life Goals. Jeff Browning is one of the greatest ultrarunners of our generation. Winning over two dozen 100-mile races, being on the podium of some of the hardest ultras, and most recently, securing an FKT on the Colorado Trail, Jeff has immense experience in the sport of ultrarunning. Some of the biggest keys to his success comes from his mindset and how he mentally approaches ultras. And his approach isn't woo-woo; it's backed by neuroscience and psychology, which speaks to why Jeff is able to keep performing at a high level throughout his career. On top of that, logistics play a huge role in ultrarunning. When it comes to pacers, crew, and time at aid stations, optimizing those things also can be a difference between a longer finish time and a PR. And Jeff has fine-tuned his logistical strategy to be top-notch over the years. In this episode, Jeff shares practical tips on how to deploy proven and powerful mental strategies in an ultra, how to rewire your brain to not DNF in an ultra (even if you have before), and how to save tons of time in your ultras by mastering the logistics. Huge thank you to Jeff for coming on the show! What did Ray Kroc, Maya Angelou, Margaret Thatcher, and Malcolm X all have in common? (Don't worry - this isn't a dirty joke!) They were all opsimaths, i.e. a person who blooms late in life. In his new book SECOND ACT: What Late Bloomers Can Tell You About Success and Reinventing Your Life, author Henry Oliver shares the stories of well-known people whose greatest accomplishments happened in or past middle age. In other words, there's still hope for you! Maybe you're 45 and haven't written the great American Novel yet. There's still time! You're 55 and haven't made your first million or billion? There's still time! You're 65 and havne't gotten elected to political office? Well, let's not push it, but you never know. If you are indeed an opsimath, you'll keep working toward your goal for the sake of the thing and not in hope of any extrinsic rewards. In this informative and sometimes humorous conversation, Henry and I—two urbane gentleman that we are—discuss the following: Fluid intelligence v. concrete intelligence Why motivation is the closest thing we have to magic.  How and why to stay in the game as you get older The commonalities among late bloomers include hard work, intrinsic motivation and a willingness to keep trying and learning. The similarities between Ray Kroc's relationship with the McDonald brothers and Mark Zuckerberg's relationship with the Winklevoss twins. How Katharine Graham's family's suffocating wealth both helped and hindered her development Pre-order Henry's book here.
