On September 23, 1998, 19-year-old Amber Wilde (will-de), a college student who was four and a half months pregnant, called her father after getting into a minor car accident near the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay.  Later that evening, she spoke to him one last time from her apartment landline, but the next day she never showed up for class or a doctor's appointment. A week later, her car was found abandoned near Lambeau Field, with her keys inside and her purse locked in the trunk. But Amber was nowhere to be found. More than twenty-seven years later, Amber's disappearance remains unsolved. Detectives believe she was murdered, but without her body, they've never been able to prove it. Her family is still searching, waiting for the answers that will finally bring Amber home. Scotty Smalls moves to the San Fernando Valley with his mom and stepdad, Bill. He doesn't have any friends, so he asks Bill to teach him how to play baseball. Bill puts his prized possession on the mantel—a signed Babe Ruth baseball.The next day, Scotty runs to the nearby baseball field to see if he can make some friends. A fly ball comes right to him, and it doesn't go well. As he fumbles for the ball, he's terrified by this… Beast… on the other side of the fence. The kids give him a hard time for not knowing how to throw or catch. Scotty goes home, asks Bill to teach him again, and ends up with a black eye.The next day, despite the other kids not wanting him to play, the team's best player, Benny, says they should give him a shot because they need a full team. Benny teaches him to throw and catch, and soon Scotty starts to fit in.One day, Ham smacks a home run into the Beast's yard. When Smalls asks about the Beast, the boys hold a sleepover and share the legend of the terrifying dog who lives beyond the fence.The boys become best friends and do best friend stuff—like hanging out at the pool and celebrating the Fourth of July. But at the end of the day, it all comes back to baseball.One afternoon, Benny absolutely crushes their only ball. With Bill out of town, Smalls thinks he's got the solution: he'll grab the one from the mantel. What Smalls doesn't realize is that the ball is signed by Babe Ruth. When he hits his first home run with it, he proudly tells the guys it was signed by “some girl named Ruth.” They freak out once they realize what he's done.The boys quickly forge Babe Ruth's signature on a new ball as a temporary replacement while they try to get the real one back. But the Beast doesn't make it easy.After a dream where Babe Ruth himself tells Benny about being a legend, Benny decides to take matters into his own hands. He hops the fence. The dog—who turns out to just be a big, playful pup—chases Benny all around town. Eventually, Benny makes it back, but the Beast crashes through the fence and gets stuck. Scotty and Benny free him, and the dog gratefully licks Smalls' face before leading them to his stash of baseballs.The boys meet Mr. Mertle, the Beast's owner, and are shocked to learn that he knew Babe Ruth personally. Mr. Mertle gives Smalls a ball signed by the entire 1927 Yankees in exchange for weekly baseball chats.The gang eventually grows up and goes their separate ways. Smalls? He's revealed to be the sports commentator from the beginning, still best friends with Benny, who goes on to play for the Dodgers. On the morning of October 12, 2013, 23-year-old Army veteran Christian Griggs went to his in-laws' property in Angier, North Carolina to pick up his young daughter, Jaden. At 10:54 a.m., he called his father Tony to say that his father-in-law, Reverend Pat Chisenhall, was yelling at him while his estranged wife Katie hid inside the house. Six minutes later, at 11:00 a.m., Tony arrived at the Chisenhall home to find his son lying face-down, bleeding and unresponsive. Pat had shot him six times with a .22 rifle. Once in the abdomen, once on the top of his left shoulder, and four times in the back. Christian was rushed to the hospital, where he was soon pronounced dead. As his family struggled to process the sudden loss, detectives began piecing together what had happened that fateful morning. On October 2, 1993, 37-year-old Dana MacKay and 49-year-old Mary Huffman were found murdered inside their Las Vegas home. The couple had been shot at close range, likely just after returning home from grocery shopping. The only thing missing from the house was a manila folder filled with important documents.  The Vegas community was shocked by the double homicide. The couple was well-known around town: Dana was America's first Elvis impersonator, and Mary had once been crowned Mrs. Nevada. It was hard to believe they'd been murdered in their home, known as Mini Graceland. But despite the initial attention their case received, it quickly went cold. More than thirty years later, their murders are still unsolved and the question remains: who killed Dana and Mary? 37-year-old Dana MacKay and 49-year-old Mary Huffman were found murdered inside their Las Vegas home, known as Mini Graceland, on October 2, 1993.
