Hey everyone, it's time for a reset. We are middle of the year, and I don't have to tell you what's happening in the economy. I do need to put your mind at ease and let you know the absolute importance of the loan officer and real estate agent relationship. This is where success happens.
Growing Your Business with Video Featuring Alec Hanson by Todd Duncan
And I'm not asking that because I want to make you feel bad or wrong or ashamed. I'm asking you because I got asked that question and it was such a moment for me when I was a new loan originator to have a mentor of mine say, “How come you don't have a coach yet?” And he was mentoring me, but it wasn't a coaching relationship. It was kind of an idea relationship, and his skillset was not being a coach. I obviously was trying to learn as much as I could from him, but he said, I think you're at a point in your career that you really need a coach.
IS YOUR SUCCESS ACCIDENTAL? So I think there's a problem for most mortgage professionals, specifically guys and gals that help originate loans. And also with their real estate agent partners relative to this simple question, “Is your success accidental?” For a lot of years, a lot of people have said “My business rises and falls based on other factors and not what I actually am planning to have happen in my business.”

Questions are the difference between an incredible business and a not-so-good one. Even if you're asking questions: Are you asking the questions that will truly build an emotional connection and therefore a better business relationship? In this blog post and video, I take you through the three types of questions you should be asking at every meeting. Are you earning what you're worth? I think most sales professionals are suffering at a level they're not even really aware of. And it's because they haven't challenged how they try to connect and create influence. During this video and blog post, I'm going to talk to you about three things that you can do to immediately begin to create deeper levels of connection and faster percentages of conversion. And I'm going to tell you how this particular idea can absolutely eliminate your competition. Stay to the very end, because I have something at the very end that I want to make sure you absolutely get as we roll through this. Are you earning what you're worth? Are you earning what you're worth? SCHEDULE A FREE COACHING CONSULTATION toddduncan.com/free-coaching-consultation/ I was thinking today that it might be time for a sales meeting. I know a lot of managers have forgotten the lost art of the sales meeting. And I think that in this quick video, I want to tell you why I felt that, not only as a new loan originator but why I feel as a thought leader today that the art of the sales meeting needs to be rebirthed.
So I'm gonna say something right now, and I don't want you to take it the wrong way, but you're terrible at following up. I just gotta let that sink in. And the only reason I say that is not because I want to say it, but because of what I'm seeing. In a recent survey we conducted of several thousand mortgage and real estate professionals, all said that they wish they had done a better job following up during their career. And what's interesting to me is right behind that was another survey. We have the 30th anniversary of Sales Mastery coming up and we're asked what people would like to hear from us this year. And one of the top rated responses was how to build great partnerships. Are you earning what you're worth? SCHEDULE A FREE COACHING CONSULTATION toddduncan.com/free-coaching-consultation/
I want to talk to you today about the question, why mortgage coaching? And the reason why I want to talk to you about this concept is because I see a lot of people that are not optimizing the opportunity at hand. And I would say it's north of 90% of the people that are professionally doing mortgages are not doing it the right way. Are you earning what you're worth? How to spend more time with family - podcast by Todd Duncan
It's pretty fascinating how many times I have been asked the question: Why is it when a real estate agent tells me that they're going to refer their next borrower to me, it doesn't happen? I think it's a very interesting question to ask and to contemplate because I, I really truly believe that they don't ever have the intention of giving you their next borrower. I think it's interesting when we start and think about what happens in the marketplace when we're in the lending business and we're working with real estate agents and builders and we have a decent conversation and then however we might ask for business. And then we think that that is a successful sale when in fact, it's not. And I think you all have, I know I did early on get these false hopes that you were going to get a deal from a real estate agent. For more amazing resources go to www.ToddDuncan.com

I get asked the question all the time, and I thought maybe I should just address it on video. The question is, “How do I continue to operate at level 10 without burning out?” So if we just stop for a moment and we really listen to that question, we can ascertain pretty quickly that the two ideas are mutually exclusive, because you can't be at level 10 and be burned out. I mean, if we identify level 10 as being your best, theoretically, the better you get, the more balance you will have and the less burnout you will have to endure. I think it's about systems. I also think it's about belief. I'm going to address systems on a different and video, but right now I want to talk about belief. For more amazing resources visit www.ToddDuncan.com
Do the changes in the industry have you worried? Watch my latest episode of Todd Duncan TV and learn how to replace fear with faith to gain confidence. --- On the other side of fear is faith. Faith is a conviction and confidence that what you want to happen will happen. The difference between being fearful and faithful is not taking and letting fear mount versus taking action and chopping fear down. --- The strategy for eliminating fear is preparedness and value. When you're prepared and adding value you shouldn't be afraid. --- When facing change you either have to change ahead of the mandate of change or you will get left behind. --- "It's never the market that dictates your success. It's how you execute in the market you're in." "When everybody thinks things are negative, if you adopt a positive approach, you have little if any competition." You have to choose to be positive. --- Regardless of the market, we exist to be prepared and add value to the borrower. If we're prepared and add value, the market will cooperate with us. If we're not prepared and don't add value then the market distances itself from us. --- Where are you not prepared? If you're feeling like your falling behind, then you need to sharpen your skills. How are you sharpening your skills? When your skills increase, your confidence increases, your faith increases, and your fear dissipates. --- In a down market you can either add value or cut price. If all you focus on is value creation, you are dissipating the need for price. When you're adding value then you can charge what you're worth. The key to value is based upon the dialogue you have with your customer. The more you can uncover about what's important to them allows you to create more value for them. --- When we commit ourselves to being prepared and adding value then we should not have fear for our future. --- Learn more about Todd Duncan: http://toddduncan.com Learn more about the High Trust Company: http://hightrust.com --- Download Todd's FREE High Trust Business Builder Kit: http://bit.ly/2DuoqKJ Sign up for High Trust Coaching: http://hightrustcoaching.com/ Attend Todd Duncan Events: http://hightrust.com/about-us/live-events/ Sign up for Todd's Newsletter: http://toddduncan.com/subscribe --- Connect with Todd on Social Media: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/ToddDuncanOfficial/ Twitter - http://twitter.com/toddstweets Instagram - http://instagram.com/toddduncanofficial Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/toddduncanoffical
Earn More Doing What You Love by Todd Duncan
One change can change everything. Watch my latest episode of Todd Duncan TV and learn how to approach change in a way that will allow you to remain relevant and future-proof your business. --- Nothing changes until something changes. Change often happens because you have to change or you want to change. We need to be proactive with change. The less open you are to change the more change will become a mandate for you in your business and your life. --- Are you proactively thinking about change or are you wondering what changes are going to be thrown at you? Do you view change positively or negatively? We don't like change because we get comfortable. --- One change can change everything. What is your one change that could change everything in your life? We need to view change in a positive and necessary way. When we become resistant to change we get left behind. --- The Sigmoid Curve is a representation of time and activity. It begins with a growth curve, plateaus, and ultimately declines. When we are not open to change we begin to fall behind. We need to change to be relevant, to add value, and disrupt. --- There is a fear of change when things are going well. We have to initiate a new growth curve while things are good to prevent from being forced to change when things are bad. --- Lag is the time between change occurring and a new idea taking flight. When decide to change on our own terms it allows us to prepare for times of lag. The most powerful thing about changing before you have to is that you can create a new growth curve before you begin to decline. If you do not create a new growth curve in your business and your life, you will ultimately die. --- If you are not an early adopter, and a late follower, it may be too late. The reason why you do not want to change late is because the lag time when your declining is 5 to 10 times longer than it would be if you had changed earlier. When we wait too long we lose opportunities, clients, and potentially our companies. --- In the world that we're in right now, everything is changing, it's easy to fall behind. Business is always changing and we can't be ignorant in the shifts of how it's being done. We must be constantly embracing change to remain relevant and future-proof our business. --- Learn more about Todd Duncan: http://toddduncan.com Learn more about the High Trust Company: http://hightrust.com --- Download Todd's FREE High Trust Business Builder Kit: http://bit.ly/2DuoqKJ Sign up for High Trust Coaching: http://hightrustcoaching.com/ Attend Todd Duncan Events: http://hightrust.com/about-us/live-events/ Sign up for Todd's Newsletter: http://toddduncan.com/subscribe --- Connect with Todd on Social Media: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/ToddDuncanOfficial/ Twitter - http://twitter.com/toddstweets Instagram - http://instagram.com/toddduncanofficial Linkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/toddduncanoffical

Christina took an unconventional path to becoming a mortgage guru. She graduated from NC State in Mechanical Engineering, spent many years in commercial construction, and then decided she needed a change. She moved into financial planning and, though she loved coaching clients in creative ways, she wanted to serve more families at all stages of life. Now in the mortgage world, Christina uses her financial planning background to help her mortgage clients think holistically about their financial picture. Christina's role is more akin to that of a coach, sharing foundational advise that sticks with her clients long after the mortgage process is complete. She encourages her clients to see a mortgage as a wealth-builder — cheap debt that can be leveraged — and challenges them to think differently about home buying. Debt is to be viewed as a tool. Hers is a holistic, comprehensive approach in which a mortgage is to be viewed in relationship to the other elements in a client's financial portfolio. Restructuring and consolidating debt is key. Christina sees herself in a long-term relationship with her clients. She has real conversation with her clients – talks that touch on life choices and the thinking behind those choices. As opposed to cold and clinical data-driven transactions, Christina thinks the mortgage process can be warm and fun. “I truly care and don't think the process needs to be at all stressful. I want my clients to know that it's about so much more than the mortgage.” She has built a team in which each member is able to focus on their strengths, one in which delegation is crucial.
